after hours of searching, I am still a little confused. I cant use the D3 discs in my D1 unit right? and if i cant what do I use to update the info. If I use an updated disc will my bypass still work with the empty slot grounded? Thanks

I have an AVIC D1...i lost the original west coast disc and am driving tomorrow from NY to AZ. I just installed D3 into friends car. PIoneer says I can use his west coast disc but then said that i would not be able to use my original D1 east disc and he also said that my bypass would no longer work. Is he just saying that about my bypass or is this true. This is my first post...i have tried to search for an answer for almost an hour on this website...looked at so many posts that im asking BATMAN to not reply with...."search" lol...please help
