  1. just so everyone with a 6100 knows the spot to get the set on bypass is tight in the left lower corner. not 1/2 inch up and 1/2 inch right. and not 1" up and 1/2 inch right. you need to be right in the corner. i cant beleive noone noticed this!

Yes, because EVERYONE else is wrong, and you are correct.  Enjoy the trophy for just participating.

  2. I purchased these. Monoprice cables are high quality, and this particular one comes with a ferrite core on each.  So far so good, even with these high temps here in NYC.

I used these HDMI cables (I only needed one, but its a two pack for a low price), and hasn't failed me yet either:

As for the mini jack, haven't had an issue with the factory one (yet). I have my attached to where the Ford stock mini-jack used to be.

  3. I mean if AVICSYNC ever got off the ground in an app that might help aid the thing.... this is the first time i have seen a company go so full steam on having a feature loaded in the device menus but literally zero way of getting to it or using it as the half that turns all the stuff on isn't even out yet.... would of thought they would of enabled it with a firmware update and then released the app if they thought they were this behind...

Another let down is traffic... I dunno why but I thought i would see the traffic lines on the map like you do on googlemaps instead of just icons that pop up... pretty lame this way. :(

Have you plotted routes with Android Auto yet?  I plot my way home from work every night. I know my way home, but Android Auto keeps me updated with audio alerts the whole ride home.  Whole alerts, not just a phrase or two. She will say something like "There is a six minute slowdown in 8 miles. This is still the quickest way to your destination. You should arrive at 6:42".

Sounds like you never owned an AVIC before.  Get used to it :)

  5. I spent a day trying to get my Samsung Note 4 to connect to my 4100nex, either android auto or mirrorlink, no dice.  Problem was the cable.  i had gone on ebay and bought an "aftermarket' CD-MU200 cable, which is just a 3ft usb extension and a 3ft microusb cable.  well long story short after pulling my hair out I swapped the microusb with one I had laying around and guess what, worked right away.  so not sure what the difference is but bottom line is try a different cable if you are having problems, may need larger gauge wire, shielding, who knows.

The cable you purchased might have just been a charging cable, regardless of what they advertised in the eBay auction.   You need a data/charge USB cable, which is what the second cable you used is.     Complain to eBay and get your money back for item not as described.

  6. There has to be a setting in the Navi settings.  I live in NYC, and my buddy cntrylvr79 from these forums installed it for me in NJ.   It was a long ride home constantly being informed I was speeding. lol  as soon as I got back home, i found the setting somewhere in the menus. I just cant remember right now.  When I get back in my truck tomorrow for work, i will look,

Still trying to figure out how to silence that damn warning voice when you go even 2 mph over the speed limit.

  7. I don't think Pioneer really cares, because the same occurred in the original update for the 8100.  In fact, Pioneer mentioned in the install instructions that 8100 users will see a folder named 5000NEX

I let Pioneer know that the "AVIC-7000NEX_UC_FW-Update_v1.10_20150605.zip" updater I downloaded expands to "AVIC5000NEX"...who's watching the kids over there? :D

  8. what is more to expect from an iPhone Hater.  Fact is,, your problem has nothing to do with iPhone but more so in user error upgrading firmware.   I would offer help but i don't want to get blamed for your stupidly.  good luck!

Think before you reply to someone. Do you appreciate people calling you names?  Neither do they. Cut it out.

  9. It could be a few reasons for the better reception.  Was there a tint at the top of the old windshield thats not on the new? or is it smaller tint? (some tint is metallicized).  is the antenna lower on the new windshield than the old? Even the slightest movement can help getting a lock on more satellites

  10. I did something similar to your PAC usb extension replacing a cigarette lighter plug, but I got something that looks a little more OEM.  Its a Chevy product, but it looks good in my Ford.

and the best part is that the back of the plug is a simple Mini USB plug. I can use any brand cable and any length with it.

I also ran an HDMI extension cord from the AVIC into my center console, so i can change out the Chromecast with any other HDMI peripheral.  I have to take pics of my setup

  11. screen shots of digital tv tuner as requested :

last shot is of remote control receiver, since unit is hidden.

This is in 03 Land Rover Discovery 2. I had to modify the dash fascia to install it since it came with a single din or should i say 1.5 din opening.

Thanks for the info and the pics!  I am definitely looking into doing the same setup.

I already have a Chromecast plugged into the HDMI and I use my phone as a hotspot so I can watch Netflix and such while she goes in to shop lol

  12. The RCA input for the A/V input are red, white and yellow, bundled with the 4 speaker outputs on the right side of the rear. there are 7 RCA cords that come out, 4 (2 red, 2 white) are for hooking up to optional amplifier, then there is red, white and yellow that are for A/V input. They should be marked.

There are several options, I have digital TV tuner on mine. Anything that puts out audio and video and runs on 12 volts can be hooked up to this.

Can i ask which digital tv tuner?  can it be used for a passenger while in motion? I like to take weekend road trips and it would be nice if my GF could watch her shows while travelling.  I heard digital tuners were horrible at receiving signals while in motion, but that was years ago. I can hope technology has gotten better :)  Thanks!

  13. Thank you PaisanNYC, I too found this answer strange. I will call again and this time try to inquire more.

Check out this Youtube video How To - AVIC-8000NEX - Pandora, there the phone is plugged in to give full Pandora control via the 8100 display.

I just went to the car and followed the instructions in that video, went to Settings > Smartphone setup, it was set to connect via USB 1, I chose Bluetooth Wireless instead to see if Pandora would show up, but it didn't. But that setting did disable the USB2 connection to my iPod, so I reverted it back to the original setting of USB1. Now I can again access my iPod and everything else works as well, just not Pandora.

When you get a moment can you please take a look at your settings and see if anything is different on yours?

I found another YouTube video made by Pioneer, showing Pandora working with a Bluetooth-connected phone, a Nexus 4 (which is a two year old phone!).

I will try to remember and take pics of my settings display when i leave work tomorrow
