  1. I removed a 12-volt socket in my car and replaced it with a slick USB/ 3.5mm jack that looks close to factory.  I plugged the iPod cord into the USB jack and completed the install.

When I plug a USB stick into the jack, playback and lookup on the head unit work just fine.  But when I plug in an iphone 4 using a factory 30-pin to USB cord, I can control everything on the phone like normal, but there is no volume.  I tried this with two different iPhone 4 handsets and two different Apple brand cords. Same result. I turned the head unit volume up to 35, I made sure the iPhone volume was around 50%, but got no sound at all.

    Any ideas?

This particular module you will require the special CD-IU201N cable, since the USB only charges and interfaces between the unit, the audio and video go thru the special port in which the CD-IU201N uses...

  2. Hmm very weird becuase when I had the AVIC-Z110BT I had the same NO AUDIO issues with my HIDs everytime I turn them on, but then when I upgraded to the AVIC-Z120BT it never did it again.

And then I had the AVIC-Z130BT and now the AVIC-Z140BH, and no issues so far, only had issues with my AVIC-Z110BT at the time. Thought maybe they fixed it by adding some shielding and mor filters in the newer models since the 120 and on were fine with my HIDs!

  3. Get the z130. The 140 does not have voice commands. I have an Android and I was going to get the 140 and contacted Pioneer. Yes, its Android friendly but you will lose the voice commands. So, I got the z130

The 140 does have voice, pretty much has everything the 130 has and more. Pretty much a 130 revamped with updated software. I know because I had the 130 before and just go the 140 last week. Superb deck especially the advanced app mode!

*The rep probably told you that so you would go out and buy the 130 to help dealers get rid of old stock so they can order new 140 stock! :P

Yes, you can in the future upgrade the 130 into the 140, but you would have to pay extra, but choosing between the 2 better off with the 140 then u already have it! But I guess you already got the 130... :(

The maps and POIs are way better, especially because of the transition from TeleAtlas to NavTeq, and I always like the newest tech anyways, I had them all since the very first AVIC-N1 and Z1!

  4. You'll just have to "reburn" your audio cds with CD-TEXT, most audio burner software like Nero can automatically retrieve the CDDB database and insert them into the CD-TEXT info, unless it was a custom track/playlists (not original artist cd), but most cases of you created it from mp3's usually the tag info from mp3s will transfer over to CD-TEXT, as long as the CD-TEXT is enabled on your burner software.

I know its a pain the arse to reburn your cds, but then I can keep my originals stored and just use burned discs so if I scratch or break them it doesnt matter I can reburn it again... then again I haven't used a CD since I got my iTouch and iPhone! :-P

  5. Why don't you just move your processor to the front rcas to get the BT audio through your other speakers?

And then you can set the audio system to MUTE while a call comes in, navigation guidance or voice control [bT+ NAV + GUIDANCE MUTE] and you can set the level of mute, 10%, 20% or full mute.

  6. Thanks wabadie for confirming it with ios 5.0.1!

I always wanted a way to update music or videos to my truck without having to reburn a disc, or having to get the device out of the truck everytime I want to add a song or so. This now makes it soo much more convenient, especially at those times where you just heard something cool and want to listen to it when your in the vehicle, so I just add it to itunes and press sync and its there!

  7. Here is the video you all been waiting for!

I have my older 3GS (if 3GS works so should 4 and 4S, which I left at work - oops!) sitting here in standby, for about a few hours without being plugged in or touched or turned on (just standby), and then I go onto my laptop, start up iTunes, wait for my iphone to show (takes a few secs to a minute depending on your network), it then pops up, does its startup/pre-connection circle thingy until it connects and shows the Eject button, then I press the sync button, it'll search for my iPhone, connect and start syncing, all from within my iTunes on my laptop...

Also check your virus programs, firewalls, and network connections from blocking any incoming/outgoing connections to your iPhone/iTouch!

5 other friends of mine do the same thing, this all works for them too! 2 have the AVIC-930BT and a iTouch 4G, so they love this leaving in the vehicle, the other 3 just have it hooked up as an AUX input to there deck, but don't have to bring them in anymore!

I hope you guys that are having problems can solve the issues you are having, maybe firewall, network/router settings? I can access my phone or touch at ANY time, there is no timed-out or anything, unless your router's wifi settings or some other setting is causing it to disconnect (maybe some type of idle mode/no activity autodisconnect option).

Because when it works, its so great and convenient! It was always a PAIN to remember to bring in the iTouch or forget the iPhone in the car all the time! I usually leave my iphone in my truck connected for netflix and never really use my phone in the house often anyways, just take it out during the day while im out and about and when I'm away from the truck, but leave it in the truck overnight, except tonight I left my 4S at work! So my old 3GS is shown here doing what I mentioned! I'll post a video of my deck retaining power which is not necessary or required anyways for alot of ppl since you can SYNC regardless!

If still no go, try this,

Open the windows firewall settings, and look if "SyncServer.exe" is allowed. I'm gonna guess it isn't even listed silly.gif

Instructions (Windows 7 x64 - Vista is probably similar):

    Open "Control Panel"

    Select "Windows Firewall"

Click "Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall"

Look for "SyncServer" in the list. It won't be there.

Click "Add program" or "Change Settings" then "Allow another program"

    Click "Browse..."

    Find "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\SyncServer.exe"

Restart iTunes and your iPod/Phone/Pad should appear in iTunes even when disconnected. If not, try rebooting to make sure everything is reloaded properly.

Also you can try to reboot your device too, don't just put it to sleep, actually power it off fully and power it back on... that seems to solve alot of issues such as 3G connection, WIFI connection, etc.

  8. Obviously the link you sent me, you DIDN"t READ all of it. It merely says the AUTOSYNC will not work without it being plugged in, but you can sync manually without power. I have confirm with 5 friends with iphones and they all can do it!

Taken from the link you sent:

"That’s it, now as long as iTunes is open on your PC, as soon as you plug your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad into the power outlet, it should appear in iTunes and sync over Wi-Fi.

(Yes — It has to be plugged in to the power for this to work, so you are really just cutting the cord to the PC not to the wall!)

If you want to initiate a sync manually, you can do this from your iOS device and you don’t need to be plugged into a power outlet."

And I can sync from both my phone or by iTunes, at anytime, I did it at 2am in the morning, not connected to power on the coffee table, and still showed in my itunes.

Also Read the comment quote #4

I'll upload a video of it as soon as I get a chance to show you.

While your at it why don't you check this link:

    and this one

  9. Then obviously you guys have something set up wrong because I can do it as well as many of my friends can without having power/plugged in. Also its on those LINKS I've provided plus even google it, it DOES work, otherwise there is a setting your missing or your WIFI setup is not working properly.

    Keyword here is "Automatically"

You can manually inituate the SYNC if your iDevice is not connected to power, otherwise it'll do it for you "automatically" when plugged in.

My phone shows up all the time and only disappears when I'm either too far away from the WIFI or I Eject it manually, otherwise its always showing on my itunes, all of my devices too, my iPhone4S, wife's 3GS and both of our iTouches 3G and 4G...

  10. I understand your intensions and certainly appreciate them. I just wanted to make it clear that this may not be a feature that everyone can take advantage of if its only unique to a certain vehicle or install. Also, per the iOS5 wording for the settings for WiFi Sync, it only works if powered and plugged in. Again, if power is not retained for most people this wont work.

Actually the wording is MISUNDERSTOOD! The wording is for "AUTOMATICALLY SYNCing" when connected to a Power Source, but you can SYNC at ANYTIME!!! Why don't you try it or check this out...

Works on my Wife's 3GS, my 4GS, iTouch 3G and 4G... I know for a fact because I have tried it! My iPhone is next to me right now, not connected at all, and its syncing right now as we speak thru wifi, not plugged in! 3 of my friends confirm it as well with theirs...

Just wondering if anyone on here even has an iDevice that has IOS5.0 on it, or am I the only one using an iDevice (with IOS5.0.1) on my Pioneer!

  11. Well as soon as I can get a video up I'll post it, besides, even if you don't have power, you can STILL sync to your iPhone/iTouch Device regardless of being plugged in, as long as WIFI Sync is Enabled and is within range! Maybe my deck has a defect (a good one for me) or whatever but mine does still show power connected, but besides the point, mine and my friends iPhones they can sync anytime as long as they are within WIFI! So still if you wish leave your iTouch 3G or 4G or newer with IOS 5.0 or newer with WIFI sync on, and still get the same results!

My main point was to let eveyone know you can leave your idevice (That supports IOS 5.0+ and WIFI SYNC) in the car and update it wirelessly without having to remove it!

  12. The GEX-P920XM is an ALL-IN-ONE self contained unit that gives your XM Radio, as opposed to have to have two seperate interfaces, a pioneer to sirius interface CD-SB10, and a sirius universal tuner SCC1 (or a SCV-DOC1 and a Sirius dockable tuner - Sportsters gives you replay)

Reception in my area, especially WINNIPEG, has XM repeaters everywhere! I can even get perfect signal in underground parking lots! Tall buildings don't affect it since these repeaters can overlap and give more signal strength! I like the interface much better, the logos and all, and even the sound in the higher frequencies sound better!

Other than that, I also have Sirius as well, but I am using the CD-SB10 and the Direct Connect SCV-DOC1 which I can dock my SPORTSTER 6 into and get REPLAY and also the ability to take it to another vehicle, in the house or boombox!

For most music listening, I use XM, and use Sirius for talkshows like Howard Stern that isn't on XM and use the replay function! Using the SCV-DOC1 and Sportster 6 is the same onscreen and direct connect as the SCC1 tuner, but gives me the ability to take it out and adds the replay function from the Sportster 6!

  13. If you guys don't believe me, If you have the AVIC-Z130BT, and iPhone or iTouch running on IOS 5.0.1+, with WIFI Sync enabled... why don't you try it! Or atleast while your iTouch or iPhone is connected, shut off your vehicle, watch as your deck shuts off, and look at your iPhone/iTouch screen! (u may have to press home or power key to wake the screen up) You'll see the charger or plugged in symbol on the battery indicator!

I found this out by browsing my iTunes, and normally will see my devices that are plugged in in the usb charger, and one day I left my iTouch in the truck. As I was browsing iTunes, I noticed that my iTouch was connected and syncing, and was going WTF? My iTouch is in my truck! So I went on and created a new playlist, and synced it again, went to the truck, and the playlist was there! then I was wondering how is that possible, WIFI sync only works if its plugged in for power! So I checked it out, and to my surprise my iTouch shows being plugged it while my truck and deck is off! But as soon as I disconnect it, the USB power drops, and I try to reconnect, and now nolonger any power on usb unless I start up the truck again! I have checked everything out and confirmed it that it all works, I have being doing this for over a week now, and I know for a fact my deck is OFF, I even confirmed the ACC power going in, deck is off, screen is off, amps are off, truck is off!

I just posted this to let you guys know, if you doubt me, I don't care, all I know is that THIS WORKS FOR toME! If it doesn't for you, TOO BAD FOR YOU THEN!!!

  14. Cool, I didn't even realize theat my iTouch could sync over WiFi. Since I only ever remove it from the car to sync w/iTunes, I can now hide it more securely in a hidden spot under the dash.

But are you sure the USB is still powered? How did you verify this? I'm not sure if I like that it is still drawing power. My make of car already has lots of power-drawing features that make it difficult to leave it un-attended from more than a few weeks (without a trickle charger). Oh, and here's a great "feature". The battery is in the trunk, but the trunk release is electric. OK, there is a manual way, but you need to remove a wheel and fender liner to get to it. And guess where the jack and wheel lock key are stored?

Anyway, my point is that I'm not crazy about the idea of the iPod charger being energized with the ignition off. I also wonder about overcharging and the affect of constant charging would have on the iPod's battery life.

The iPhone/iTouch has its own built-in charging system, you cannot overcharge it! As soon as the battery is full, it'll stop charging and just stay on standby... which uses soo little amount of power, you won't notice it! Heck I see alot of ppl with their satellite radios plugged in power all the time and left on, even after leaving the vehicle, which draws 10 times the amount of an IPOD charging and especially standby!

And obviously if you're gonna leave it and un-attended for a few weeks than more likely you should disconnect it! This is great for the daily commute and I even parked it over the weekends for 3 days and still have plenty of power to start my truck. If I'm going away then definetely be removing it, plus if I do go away for long periods, more likely I would be taking my iTouch anyways!

And I know theres power still after shuttinf off becuase on top of my iTouch and iPhone it shows the charger symbol, plus if it wasn't I wouldn't be able to SYNC it by WIFI! I'll post a video as soon as I can...

I have the AVIC-Z130BT, iPhone 4S, my wifes iPhone 3GS, my iTouch 4G and my wifes iTouch 3G, which ALL works on my deck, so I can confirm it works on this model, unless I got a special one!

  15. Nope, I have confirmed

That is likely very vehicle specific or your head unit is actually connected to the vehicle's power incorrectly.

Nope, I have confirmed it, when I shut off the truck, the deck shuts off, and I look at the iTouch and it shows that its connected to power. But once I disconnect it, and then try to connect again, there is no longer any power. Its similar to the XBOX360 USB charge port, as its still connected while shutdown, the USB is still powered after shutdown until the device is disconnected. My Truck shuts off, my pioneer deck shutsoff, the screen folds back in (from being angled out) and nothing is on except power to the itouch, which is in standby. I go into my house, check my iTunes, click on the iTouch, it'll then search for it, find it and sync to it. And it is NOT connected incorrectly! I am a Master Car Audio Installer and the Constant is tied to Yellow and the ACC is tide to red.... I'm not dumb! Epecially when I shut the truck off the deck and all amps shut off! Obviously its turned off! Just not the USB, as long as its still connected.
