  1. My guess is that when you initially relocated the yellow/black wire it wasn't seated in the harness fully and eventually lost contact and the bypass stopped working. Which would explain why moving that wire back to it's original location did nothing.

You can do one of two things.

1 - Move that yellow/black wire back to the proper bypass position and make sure it is seated in the wiring harness properly

2 - Do the software bypass instead, which does not require relocation of that yellow/black wire. Here's the topic about that: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17715

  2. It's a CD drive. There would be no reason that Pioneer would spend the extra money to install DVD drives in the units just to pay the coders even more money to alter the software to make it read only CD's.

  3. Well you need to go to a torrent site, like Pirate bay, Torrentportal (I find this one very nice), Azureus, isohunt, etc. and type in what you are looking for. You will have multiple results, but it will show you which files are the most popular (most active seeders) as well as view user comments/flags about the content of the files if anyone has left them. And yes, with torrents most times if you are looking for an album it can be downloaded as a folder/zip file containing the whole album. Individual song files aren't commonly available through torrenting. And you can use whatever torrent program/client you want no matter what site you get the torrent from.

  4. I just got off the phone with Pioneer and they told me that when you click "Buy Now" you get connected to the online Pioneer store. When I placed my order I did it through the Parts Department, a separate entity. The online store got a shipment recently but the Parts Dept is still waiting on their shipment..... That just sucks!

So just cancel your order from the parts department and buy it from the store...

  5. That's what limewire does too right? only torrents are much more organized and are capable of seeding full albums and movies and such correct?

The difference between a Limewire type system and a torrent system is information and availability.

On limewire, you do a search, and a bunch of results come up, and you gamble on which one is the one you want or whether or not it is a good file or not.

With a torrent system, you have a much broader range of places to find available downloads. Also, on the sites that host the torrent links, users can leave comments about the contents of the files for future users to help them know what is in the download and if it's any good or not. It's easier, safer, and a lot of times faster.

  6. I realized that they are only updated maps, but is there enough of a difference from the old maps to buy them?

Depends on how many new roads/developments/etc. you have in your area. Have you run across any addresses or roads that your D3 cannot find with the original disks?

  7. I always thought a torrent was a really bad rain storm...

Well if you think of it as a metaphor, that's kind of how a torrent works. Bits and pieces of the file are downloaded from all the other users seeding the torrent on their computers and it combines them on your end... and just like when it rains, the water comes down in many small drops, but if you catch them all it will eventually form a pool of water.

  8. Anyone know how to verify you have the VSS connected and working properly? My speedo in nav setup looks to be accurate, and I've had no problems navigating, but hard to tell if its working without some kind of "Wire is connected properly" type message. 8)

you'd only notice in like, a tunnel. where you have no signal. so unless you have a tunnel nearby, you won't be able to tell.

Also if you are driving on a road that goes through a wooded area, you might lose signal.
