D3in2000S4

Problem was the crappy Metra wiriing harness. I toook the sucker out and hardwired it. Problem fixed. Thanks guys.

I was driving around earlier today and the D3 was working swell. I got home, parked, washed the car, and now it's completely unresponsive. No lights, don't charge the iPod, no sound, nothing! It was working fine 20 minutes ago. Please help. I'm hoping to be leaving on an 8 hour drive in an hour. This is the last thing I needed

Since installing the D3 in my 2000 S4 I'm getting some solid high pitch chirping at a regular frequency coming from the speakers. The chirp's volume remains constant regardless of the D3's volume. I also get some hiss coming from all of the speakers. My car is a 2000 S4 with the Bose stereo and aside from the D3 head unit everything is stock. People have advised me that the stock Bose amp is crap and should be replaced. Is it possible that may fix the chirping? Thanks, Jacob

It's probably a terrible signal since my car is in my basement garage, but my RNS-E nav did pick up signal when in the same location. I guess I just need to get my car fixed so I can drive the thing! Thanks guys.

Wow, very thorough response. Thanks Batman. One more question: I installed my antenna just above my cluster but under the dash. This is where I stashed my antenna on my RNS-E set-up and it worked great. Do you think the D3 antenna will just as well or does it really need to be above the dash with line of sight to the satellite? Thanks, Jacob Dunno. What's a RNS-E? Best bet is to get the car outside and try it.

Hi, I just installed my Avic D3 into my 2000 S4 about 20 minutes ago. I booted her up just to mess around and it has my car in the middle of some park in Manhatten. I'm in Virginia, what gives? My car isn't driveable currently so I wasn't able to drive around to jog it. Is this normal? I also have a couple other questions/issues: 1. When I start the car and the unit goes through it's boot phase it takes a long time and always asks me if I'd like to start the Nav mode or go into Store Demo Mode. What gives? 2.My speakers chirp and hiss. Could this be because I'm ru
