  1. No. So one cable for controlling the iPod's audio and a separate cable for the Video out?
  2. I have another question on this topic, did a search and got conflicting results: Can an iPod Touch/iPhone be connected to the Avic-Z* via the Pioneer iPod interface cable to watch videos on the headunit's screen?
  3. Same problem. Same car. No relation tho, lol. When I say "Toronto" it will NEVER recognize the name. Not once did it work.
  4. That's a clean idea to have the mic there. However, you are blocking the side slots of the mic. Those are apparently there to help reduce echoes. Here is where I installed my mic (also an Acura RSX): Notice the side "holes" on the mic are not covered up.
  5. I don't think you can do either. DVD-Audio I have tried and could not be read. And MP3s wouldn't read off of a DVD-/+R either. Only CD-Rs. At least in my experience.
  6. While you are en route to a destination, and a turn is coming up at an intersection, half of the screen will show you an enlarged image of that intersection with arrows guiding you from your travel path to where you need to turn. This feature will only show you the picture of the intersection while a route is programmed. Plus, it would be kind of annoying to have it pop up at every intersection...

    Contact Picture Size?

I've read that from the manual. However, that is the maximum resolution. Regardless of the resolution, the picture will be RESIZED to a specific resolution (a small rectangle at the bottom right of the Z screen). Some resolutions do not resize correctly and appear distorted (stretched). If we can find out what the resolution the pics are AFTER the Z resizes them, that would be optimal.
  8. I've searched but can only find information on the resolution for the background pictures. Does anybody know the correct resolution for the contact pictures? The ones you can add in the Address Book. I've imported some before, but some of them seem to be resized out of proportion. Thanks for any help.
  9. Wire got pinched and cut. Repaired. Works now.
  10. I have recently upgraded to the Z3 build. Ever since then, I have no Voice-Command button. The mic is connected. Any ideas?
  11. Thanks for the step-by-step. I have upgraded my Z1 in the past to the Z2. However, I was not able to edit the parameters of the HDD and thus my HDD was relocked. This time it worked well with the upgrade to the Z3. I downloaded the CD image of the Magic Boot Disk 2.0 from the same website and that worked instantly. However, it took me a while to realize that I have to launch the utility FIRST before proceeding with the instructinos on how to disable the security. For those who get Bad Command or Filename at X:\MHDD> when trying to run the command "EID" make sure to laun
  12. My mistake. I thought that was what Pioneer referred to as "Detailed Maps". No worries, no harm done in getting the update. At least I was able to disable the security this time around Thanks for all your help!
  13. I might have been using the wrong term. I was trying to describe the level of detail I get in downtown Toronto when zoomed in pretty close. The streets change from being yellow lines to looking like streets. You see the shapes of buildings, grass, etc. even parking lots. When you zoom back out, it goes back to the regular yellow lines. This level of "detail" is only available in downtown Toronto for my city. Search for 1 Yonge St. Toronto and zoom in to see the "detail".
  14. I managed to bring my tools to work and complete the upgrade. However, the detailed maps did not change for my location. I am still seeing the regular maps and the detailed maps are still limited to downtown Toronto. My version # is 3.0. Any idea?
  15. Thanks garrettoomey. I may not find the time to do the upgrade myself again this time. If that is the case, I might as well purchase your drive.
  16. I think it is $110 including the HDD, Preloaded Image and Shipping. Very cheap. edit: My mistake. They are $130. Still well worth it imo.
  17. Yeah I was thinking about buying one off you. Cedarcroft was always on the map (Z1,Z2). I wanted to know before I decide on upgrading if that area now has the detailed maps, like downtown Toronto does.
  18. Hwy 9?? That's FAR. Way more coverage than the previous maps. Did you scroll to Hwy 9 all the way up Bathurst St? For a specific road, try a small street called "Cedarcroft Blvd." in Toronto. Sure, try 26 Robingrove Rd., Toronto, Ontario (Canada). Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it.
  19. dont cry ill check today after work...toronto is across Lake Ontario right? haha. Yeah Toronto is North of Lake Ontario. You can find a main road named "Bathurst St." (going North/South) (see link). Scroll up accross the city 'til a main road called "Steeles Ave." (which will intersect with Bathurst St.). I know there are detailed maps of downtown Toronto (starting from the lake) and it goes up 'til around St. Clair Ave. I wanted to know if the new maps have expanded detailed coverage. Maybe you can tell me at what street the detailed maps stop? (eg. Bathurst St. and X St.).
  20. Yes, that should work too. So this is the info I have gathered so far: 1. Tap into vehicle's reverse wire (or reverse light) with the Z's reverse wire. 2. Connect VCC+ wire to powersupply on the Z. 3. Ground the GND- wire to the Z's main ground wire. 4. Connect the composite cable. Am I incorrect on/missing something?
  21. OK, I can find my vehicle's reverse wire. Where do I tap this wire into on the Z2? Is there a dedicated wire to connect to for the reverse?
