RDS?

anybody know if the Z1 had RDS capabilities? it surprises me that some of the el cheapo single DIN units seem to have it but not the Z1 all the FM stations in my market (NY) transmit title/artist info on RDS, would be nice to have.
3.
Yeah, currently it doesn't rip in MP3, and there's no way to change the quality in which it DOES rip.
althought I'm not 100% sure if this is the case or not, my suspicion would be that pioneer didnt want to license an MP3 encoder, thats probably the only reason it is the way it is. that being said, if somebody is workin on getting it to play something else, they should be trying to get it to enc/dec AAC rather then MP3. Thats what itunes uses and the quality is much better then MP3.
4.
It's basically a mini plug like you would use on a set of ear phones. The manual then shows it going into a converter box that looks like it converts it to a Tos-link connection. Jay
me wonders if the mini plug is just actually a coaxial SPDIF signal that then just gets converted into an optical SPDIF signal with the converter box from pioneer....
5. UPDATE two phillips screws hold the bezel around the guage pod on and then 4 more philips screws hold the guage pod itself on. Once you pull them out its the white/blue wire. works great :D
6.
Dummy file not needed,.....Ducatiboy,, thanks for the circuit got it very fast installed and working ontime everytime. Thanks Jake
i second that, I placed my order LATE on thursday nite, got a shipping confirmation around midnite, and had it in my mailbox when i got home today. It goes in the truck first thing tomm :D
7. hard disks in cars really arent anything that bleeding edge. Many companies have had laptops (panasonic tuff books) with hard drives that have similar specs mounted in their fleet vehicles for years now. I wouldnt be too worried.
8. I cant speak for the Z1 because I just started installing mine today. however I had an AVIC 9 i think (the first generation pioneer navi systems) that was in my last truck and when the least was up transfered into my new car. When it was in my lease (2000 Dodge durango) the VSS wire was easy to tap into so I did, in the Infiniti I've yet to find the wire so it was never connected. Only differences I found were that WITH the vss connected it would give me about another second or so warning that an exit was coming up when on the highway doing 70 or so and the vehicle position indicator
9. anybody have this truck and know the easiest spot to tap into the speed pulse wire? The spec sheet I have says its a white/blue wire behind the instrument panel, but getting behind there is next to impossible without taking nearly all the dash apart. I'm hopeing somebody found a slightly more accessable spot where that wire passes through. thanks Bernie!
10. i was at the 6th ave in Jersey City today and the sales guy told me that pioneer recalled their entire stock the bluetooth modules to update the software in them due to some phone compatability issues. They were expecting to get the units with the fix in sometime in the next week or so.
