  1. Dave, I did end up solving the problem, however not in the fashion that will help you. I ripped the system out, sold it on eBay, and replaced it with the Kenwood 7100. Between the heat freeze, the sound cutting out, the lockdown while moving, and Kenwood has a much better GPS interface (Garmin, my #1 feature), I just got rid of it. The Kenwood has run crash free for 6 months. However, before getting rid of the system, I never found out what was causing the sound to cut out. As noted earlier in the thread, flicking the headlights on and back off seemed to work. It's like something is
  2. Has anybody heard if the USB on the DNX 7100 has successfully been infiltrated? If anyone has the ability, I would love to sponsor efforts to connect my Windows Mobile cell phone with the headunit as a monitor/touchscreen. Just dreaming... SGalway 2007 Wrangler Unlimited
  3. I just sent mine to Ohio yesterday. I took out full insurance on the package, hopefully FedEx will lose it and I will get my money back so I can go buy something else... I know Pioneer won't give me anything!
  4. There was only one out that would work when I installed it, the Metra CHTO-03. Thanks for the help.

  6. Has anyone else had a problem with the sound cutting out? I accidentally fixed the problem by flicking the headlights on for a second. The sound came back. This has happened three times now at seemingly random times. This, of course, is in addition to the "heat freeze"... What a piece of crap. If Pioneer hadn't spent so much time and effort locking the unit down while you are driving maybe they would have had a little left over to make sure the unit actually functions properly.
  7. OK. Add one more person to the list of freezes. I am also certain that heat is the culprit. I am south of Houston and just got frozen all the way home from the office. Resets wouldn't fix it nor would turning car off turning back on. I talked to Pioneer on the way and they gave me the "14 gauge wire" fix. So I stopped at the store to pick up some wire and when I got back in the car - guess what -- unit is working now! It has been going on for a few weeks and is progressively getting worse. Has anyone had luck with the thick wire? Just curious before I go ripping up my dash again.
