  1. Came from here to my email on record here (like when you subscribe to thread) That is probably why some didn't get it, because you weren't subscribed to that thread. When I clicked link, came here to my inbox with the same message as if the Admin PM'd me.

  2. Got this email (SPAM) in my in box, here at the board! Looks like there was a breach, JasonH.

    Important to read!

"Important to read" was a link to a Drug Site!

  3. I had ordered the screws, but didn't need them. I read the "2 million posts" here and Garret's excellent instructions (is that a movie?) on how tight the screws are and how to swap out. Can't beat Garret's honesty and integrity. I had pestered him for a month while my Z1 was at pioneer in for repair and then after that, had problem (thought I did) with Garret's boot screen. Nope...was under my nose. The grounding instructions worked like a charm! My F-150 s'crew never looked better!

Forget about buying that eBay crap. So you pay 10 bucks more or less here...try and get the support Garret offers! "Old school" customer service!

    Thanks Garret!

  4. 2 things: I am looking at the instructions to how to bypass by grounding 2 wires. I had grounded the parking brake (light green from unit) and the system works (bypassing) w/o grounding the last pin on connector 2. Anyone know why? Also I see the instructions that some peeps relocated the "cell phone mute" wire to the last pin on connector 2 and grounded that...only thing is, I CAN NOT find (and not shown in instructions) where the original location of the "cell phone mute" wire is, in order to use it. Anyone know the original location of the "cell phone mute" wire?

Oh, and I grounded the light green to my chasis.

  5. I have a Z2 and I am trying to update firmware 2.14. I have a firmware disc from Pioneer. I inserted up disc and nothing happens. I am trying to install my map upgrade disc (CNDV-800HD).

Any suggestions who be greatly appreciated

I assume you followed the required steps for the 800HD update ?

And that you actually got the HD800 update disk from Pioneer, as you can only use it for ONE Pioneer Z-series. The password is generated one-time, based on the serial number of the unit and DVD...

Instructions for the European version f.i. are here:

    http://www.service.pioneer-eur.com/peeservice/instrmanuals.nsf/0/4E357736FEC6AB98C125748000344960/$File/MAN-CNDV-800HD-EN.pdf

I assume that the US version works practically the same, i.e. you need to get a password from the Pioneer site.

In addition, for the second phase you need to be in the MAP menu with the current location (see instructions)

What is your problem with all your ASSumes? Either come straight out and say what you mean, or just help the guy/girl.

  6. I have an '05 F-150 FX4, 4 door and drilled the license plate. The hole landed right smack in the middle of the “O†in the numbers of my license plate. You really don't notice it unless you know it's there. I drilled it with a uni-bit (some call it a stepper bit). It landed dead center over the trailer hitch and also has a good rear view when changing lanes and backing up. Very handy! Backing up to the trailer is spot on and no more getting out to align the trailer.

  7. Sorry folks,

I forgot to add 'Bluetooth Fix' to the poll when I created it and unfortunately, I cannot ammend it. So for those of you who would prefer the bluetooth fix, please select another choice and I will also submit your discontent for the bluetooth to Pioneer when the poll is complete.

Yes, bluetooth on the Z1 has flaws and although the update did help with the echo, it still isn't perfect.

Thank you all for participating in the poll. It is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Kevin

    Anytime bud. :?

  8. Just one of those days, bud. Don't mean to sound like I am pissed off at the world, but I am. I apologize for venting. This Pioneer thing is just the icing, yet in the scheme of things, bull@#it. I am still fighting 6 ave for a defective unit they sent me, no unit, no refund/credit. Since May 2006! Was I to leave a hole in my dash? I bought elsewhere thinking 6ave electronics would do the RIGHT thing. All I wanted was a unit that works. They have my hard earned cash and no unit! Figure that one out. I want the guy on the phone (how cordial he was) at 6ave Electronics the day I was buying the unit from him...where did he go after he made the sale? What happened to how a Customer is treated? There I go...again, sorry bud.

  9. while i agree with the bluetooth issue, it is no where near as compatible as say the parrot, irregardless of obex or whatever verizon is doing to cripple the bluetooth stuff. But maybe you should try the update for the bluetooth, it has gotten great response, it has improved drastically compared to pre update software. just a thought for you is all

Improved? I paid for a working Bluetooth and I want working Bluetooth and I (we) am/are not tech support for Pioneer. Had I installed a Biometric System with a small issue, like not reading certain people's Iris, we would get sued. But hey, we are not Pioneer. I would be hard pressed to buy another Pioneer product again.

  10. I agree with you drober30, 100%. I am not a Beta Tester and do not wish to be a Beta Tester for Pioneer, especially when I have to pay $2000 clams. This is a feature (Blue tooth) that Pioneer advertises as one of the MAIN features of the unit and it DOES NOT PERFORM CORECTLY. I can see the little glitches like when you use voice dialing search to make a call, it goes back to the screen without doing that command. That is a minor issue, but the BLUETOOTH gets under my craw and unacceptable. When people see my system in my new Ford F-150 and say that's nice...I tell them JUNK. I do low voltage work, so most of the guys are geeks. Then I have to get into the explanation of the BLUETOOTH ISSUE. Instead of explaining it over and over, I just tell them to give me their phone, so I can call my BLUETOOTH ENABLED AVIC-Z1 and sit in the truck...that's all I need to do now. Once they hear the echo, they agree. Pioneer really dropped the ball on this one. Seems like they need new Engineers...clean house.

  11. There are over 12 pages of this issue, except for yours. :D

...and those are the topics that were easy to find.

By the way, I had a chat with an engineer and installer over at Pioneer the other day to ask them a question about my Premier DEH-P980BT headunit and just happened to mention that the BT in my Z1 sucked ass. They both told me that they have narrowed the problem down to the firmware and it will be corrected when the next update is released. Of course they wouldn't tell me when that was. They also mentioned that during their testing with the current firmware, they found better results when they tried a microphone with noise cancellation but some echo was still present. Hopefully this is was true and we will have a software fix soon. By the way, this was not an in-person conversation. I called to speak to an installer/product support, asked him my question about the DEH-P980BT, mentioned the echo on the Z1, and then he had the engineer join in on the call.

  12. I tried all that, nothing worked, but thanks. I am going with another brand. The BT is a must for me. It's like buying a computer with two memory slots, and then have them telling you there are issues with one slot and telling you to live with it. I have no need nor want for companies such as Pioneer. "It put a bad taste in my mouth and I will not eat at that restaurant any longer." I will never buy another Pioneer product again. I earn my money hard.
