    volume on Zs

Thanks for the suggestion Garret. I have a factory amp that I wasn't thinking of which may still be connected. I'll have to speak with my installer.
  2. Am I the only one getting fed up with XM since the merger? I now have to listen to another market's traffic instead of getting just Philly or Baltimore when I'm in that area (I'm surprised they bothered to leave NYC on it's own channel), they're raising the price on the second radio subscription even though the merger was supposed to keep prices the same and we're not even sure how long they're going to be around with all the debt coming due this year. Don't even get me started on the mangling of the channel line up, the addition of DJs that talk talk talk on what were previously auto-pilo
  3. Gotta agree with emt3000gt. I'm not really disappointed in the platform as much as the original poster is, it's made significant advances since the original versions of the N on which I based my buying decision, but the platform has so much more potential for the interface in general. The speed of the interface especially needs work when scrolling through lists of HDD or ipod items. I think you can sort library albums but I haven't dug for the option yet.

    volume on Zs

Let's start off with the fact I have an N2 and a Z3. On my N, I have to crank the volume to 30-40 to even hear it on some roads. On the Z, the jump in volume between 5 and 7 is so great I can hardly listen to it on 7 while sitting still with the windows up. Is there any way to make the volume more granular on the Z series or would that be a programming request? Note that I'm making these observations using the FM tuner so no attenuation or gain is available. My digital channels are only adjusted by +/- 1 or 2 to level things out a bit anyway. I know that there will be differences between v
  5. Yes, the PAC wired remote has significant lag compared to my factory system. It's really irritating. Sometimes I think I can hold the button for an extra moment to allow for the lag and I'll get 2 hits on the control. At least I got a 1 button mute out of it, that was a big loss going from the N to the Z. I have a remote from my N that partially works for the Z but the voice command button doesn't and that's the one I really want. Looks like I'll just be getting the wireless for the Z. After $2000+ for the unit, accessories and install, what's an extra $30 for something Pioneer should
  6. I know this has been hashed out before but I haven't seen any references in 2008 or with the Z3. Has Pioneer finally modified the software to allow a wired remote to initiate a voice command? I have a SWI-PS interface and my installer said only the 9 listed functions in the module can be programmed. The Z is installed in a Honda Element.
  7. I'm beginning to think the bypass is a good idea. I didn't want to do it while the unit was under warranty and haven't pulled it from my dash since. I just got a voice command unit that I need to install so I have to anyway. Thanks for the feedback.
  8. Is it just me or does anyone else think this is worthless? Having an unhacked unit, I can't even display the list of traffic incidents while moving so if I see an icon on the road I'm traveling, I can't determine the exact location or direction that is affected unless I stop. So this leads to the question: are the newer models smarter? I understand that traffic flow data relies on the local infrastructure to provide data and may never happen even on major highways, no fault to Navtraffic. But my local travel area (mostly in and between Phila and NYC) has almost complete incident coverage o
  9. I've noticed that traffic incidents, such as accidents and lane closures, show up on my routes from time to time but the N2 does not route around them or even notify of them unless they are in a section of highway that includes traffic flow information. Is this the correct behavior for this unit?
  10. Is there anywhere I can report map data errors? I just upgraded to the 2007 map discs and there are still some significant omissions where roads have been changed/in place for 4-5 years.
  11. I'm about to upgrade my N2 from the 2005 software to the 2007. I assume this is possible (without the 2006 step) and that I will not lose settings. My second question is if the interface has been improved at all. The XM and CD interfaces are like an afterthought in the 2005 version. It looks like no thought went into functionality and how to exploit all the screen real estate that's available. Inexcusable for a $2200 product in my opinion.
