  1. Can anyone help me

    I'm on IOS6.1

Yesterday I updated appradio from the AppStore to 2.6.1 and straight away as soon as I exit an unsupported app on the radio I get a black screen with audio still playing until I close app radio app on the phone and reopen it.

I've tried rolling back a version of extensions, uninstalling app radio/re-installing, rebooting. No joy :(

Would anyone be able to upload and post a link to the pioneerappradio.ipa to a version or two back like 2.6, 2.5, etc?

    I'm distraught

Read up a page or 2 and you should find the instructions to download old versions of App Extensions.

  2. Make sure the SD card is formatted in fat32 or fat16.  No other filesystem format.

Do you have a PC you can try to put the files on from?  Small chance but it might work.

try calling them, i sat on hold for 5 minutes the first time and 20 the second but they helped me both times.

  3. Are you extracting the files from the ZIP file or just putting the zip file on the SD Card?  It sounds like its not seeing the files.  Thats probably why you would get a ---.---- instead of a ucom number.

The 5.1 firmware needs the Navteq update T1000-20495.  Are you sure that is the Navteq you used to update before?  If it's not then maybe you need the 4.6 x940bt firmware.

You can also call pioneer customer support and they will probably help you.  They have helped me with my firmware and iphone 5 kit problems.

  4. Alright, I figured it out.  You have to set the stereo to vga mode from 30-pin to use the lightning cable.  Its in the firmware update instructions but not in the CD-IV202NAVI instructions. This is what I did.

    1. turn stereo on

    2. go to sources

    3. press off

    4. go to settings then AV Settings

    5. make sure the connection is set to iphone

    6. go back to AV Settings

    7. go to Ipod Settings and select VGA.

    Poof, works.

  5. Have not been able to find any info on this.

I have a x940bt and its been running with an iphone 4s for awhile, I bought the CD-IV202NAVI and the Apple Lightning to VGA adapter so I could use it with my iPhone 5 on ios 7.0.4JB.

I updated the firmware to 4.6 from pioneers website and installed the kit.  I set it up and it would not connect to the iphone through the Lightning to VGA adapter but if I removed it and just plugged the lighnitng to USB cable in, iPOD would show up but not with the lightning to VGA adapter.  Of course I didnt have video so I spent hours trying to figure what I was doing wrong....

I took the iPhone and Lightning to VGA adapter to my computer and plugged it in to see if iTunes would see it and guess what... It didnt.

I contacted apple, after going through 3 techs that thought I was trying to sync it trough the VGA connection.... they told me the Lightning to VGA adapter does not support sync'ing so this would explain why the x940bt wouldnt see it...

If this is the truth, how does it work for anybody else? Why would pioneer release it?  Obviosuly it's not true, at least it wasn't.  Is apple making new cables that don't work?  Did ios 7 break it?

Do you guys run ios7 with iphone 5 on your x940bt?  Thanks for the help.

  6. DisplayOut converts the iPhone screen into a video and displays it on an external device. The AppRadio uses an iOS feature that lets apps have multiple windows, where the second window happens to be displayed on the head unit. The identical screens you see in the AppRadio app are actually two different windows with the same content (programmatically, not just a mirrored image).

darn again... Do you have a write up somewhere about how you're doing the extension?

  7.

It's a bit more complicated than that (last I checked at least). DisplayOut works with the AppRadio by streaming the phone screen as a video to an external display. That's why you need the bypass for it to show on the head unit. When a video is displayed on the head unit, it takes control away from the running app and stops sending touch events to the device.

AppEx was based completely inside of the AppRadio app while it was kept running in the background. The mirrored app on the head unit was actually the AppRadio app displaying an image of the device screen. This made reading touch input much easier because it was using the actual Pioneer API and forwarding the events to the app on the device.

iOS 7 broke both the backgrounding and mirroring code, basically forcing us to start over.

    Darn....

Correct me if i'm wrong here, the compatible apps screen, inside the appradio app on the iphone, looks identical to the to the appradio app on the reciever itself(see photos).  Is it not doing the same thing as display out just adding touch?  Or did they just make it look the same?  If it is doing it the same way, is there a way to hijack it or duplicate it?

  8. Mike, if you're listening, I read on your twitter "@tweakrandom Not yet. I need to figure out a new way to mirror apps to the head unit.".  Are you having problems getting the mirrored image to display or the touch input to work? I was messing with ios 7 and AP Extensions, and DisplayOut.  AP Extensions, obviously doesn't work with ios 7 but, DisplayOut does work very well with ios 7.  If you're having problems with the image mirioring, perhaps you can look in to how DisplayOut does it or use DIsplay Out with your app and simply make the touch input on the AppRadio work to the ios screen?

  9. 1st post and I am looking for some hope.  I have a jailbroken iPhone 5 (iOS7), AVH-X7500BT with the CDIVAV202AV to get the full functionality.

I am very technically and mechanically oriented and am a big fan of pushing the envelope.  I can work with and be happy with things requiring some patience but this setup is really frustrating and dangerous.

I still have a window to return my items and have installed them and everything "works".  Like most, I suspect, the main reason I got this setup was for AppRadio to much more seamlessly use in-car bluetooth phone, Waze, Pandora, and iHeart Radio.  I used them all in my car via my iPhone, but wanted a safer, cooler, and more integrated setup.  For that matter, the head unit is very nice.

Long story short, Appradio is waaaay too buggy and clunky.  It is downright dangerous and I am heartbroken and planning on a removal and return.

I can't swipe scroll in Waze, (swipe scrolling is general is very laggy) playlists don't show in CarMediaPlayer or Stezza, Appradio mode drops out to blank screen or requires access acknowledge on the iPhone itself (which was the whole point of the setup).

What gives me hope is I did my research before I dove in and AppRadio apparently has worked rather well in the past but, being new to this, my experience has been bad.  I do not see a high level of "activity" or responsiveness on the web in regards to addressing these issues.  Further I see that Pioneer has regularly released updates and this and 2.6.1 is already a couple of weeks old- so what gives?  Where's the acknowledgment from Pioneer?  Is it just my problem?  iOS?

So what's the story?  Will this thing work?  Has it worked?  I have until early March to return everything and don't want to be stuck with a system that feels like a 0.9 beta and run into a tree or something worse.

Is there an FAQ that explains what this particular thread is about?  This (Appex) appears to be an alternate for AppRadio, and I am very interested in that.

    Thanks!

    Steven

Appradio extensions(this thread) is a way to make your Appradio deck work just like your iphone/ipod.  It will have the same screen and functions as your iphone.  It basicly just puts your ios screen on the deck screen instead of using only certain pioneer apps.  Its pretty cool and actualy makes the appradio worth while.  Check out the following video to give you an idea.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l1woaiMGmQ

30 seconds in is where you'll see the real functions of AppRadio Extensions

BTW, I will donate again if and when it works with ios 7!
