  1. I've owned Kenwood and Alpine units prior to trying this Pioneer unit. Both of those treated USB devices as mass storage controller devices. It provided directory listings and loaded tags on-demand. From a programming perspective, I can't see the benefit of loading gigs and gigs of tags into memory, when they may never be used. So it sits there eating up system resources that could be free if they loaded on-demand. The Kenwood DDX8901HD works how I would expect. Plug in the device, it provides a directory listing, or it can read the tags, but it does it quickly. It also addresses my San
  2. I just opened ticket #300604 with Pioneer concerning it not reading FLAC on anything other than a 2GB SD card. If I use SDHC or USB media, it does not load the files. Bonus: Installer has 4000NEX as well, generic 32GB USB stick with FLAC on it. Reads just fine.
  3. Yes. But I can't seem to find what it will and won't read. Some of the stuff I've ripped, it reads. Some of it, it doesn't. But it doesn't tell me which files it's choking on. Just sits and flashes "FORMAT READ" This is pretty pathetic. It's starting to look like I'm returning my second AVH-4000NEX and replacing it with a Kenwood something. Maybe that will actually work as advertised. *edit* I reformatted the USB drive I was using, put just MP3s on it, somewhere around 42GB worth. It loaded the files, but it took 15 minutes for it to read the entirety of the device. I don't u
  4. So it seems that my unit is failing to read some of the FLAC files that I've got on my USB Flash Drive. The lack of error or any kind of troubleshooting information is kind of troubling. So now I have to go through 249 folders to figure out which ones the unit isn't reading and not add them. Which doesn't make any sense, because my phone, my Sansa media players, my desktop, and my laptop all read and play the files no problem.
  5. According to this: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/UnAssigned-Content/Android+Compatibility You need this: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ET-H10FAUWESTA
  6. After having Abt replace my 4000, the SD card reader and USB drives work. I've got my Class 10, 32GB PNY card working. My installer was able to get his 64GB USB flash drive to work. I am unable to get the PNY Compact Attache 64GB drive to work, formatted to FAT32, or NTFS. So I'm wondering what brand and size USB drives others are using and having success with. I'm considering picking up one of the Sandisk 64 drives and trying that. But I'm curious what others are using.
  7. Dang. Just the 7000 models, or all NAV models?
  8. This is pretty much spot on. Sound quality is quite good. It sounds much warmer than my Kenwood X997 did, but requires a bit of EQ'ing yet at my BitTen D. The pre-outs are also running at 3.8V, compared to the 3.4 my Kenwood put out. I'm still not convinced that the head unit's sound processing is turned off completely. The UI is a bit confusing in that regard. It also doesn't look like there is a way to turn off the internal amplifier, which I don't like. It seems like they spent all their time on UI development, and everything else got rushed out the door. It's a great idea, mediocre
  9. The shop that does my install doesn't have this model yet, so I ordered it from ABT.com. Plus I'm in the States.
  10. It's not reading beyond 2GB on SDHC cards. It's also not reading most USB flash drives. They tested while I was on the phone and said their unit is not having that problem. I'm guessing the controller is defective. Now I get to play the waiting and shipping game. And listen to my installer bemoan having to repeat his work. Hopefully I don't have to pay for the install again.
  11. Shows in stock. http://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/pioneer-avic-7000nex.html?___store=default&___store=default&gclid=COmeq6LMq70CFSho7AodFXoArw
  12. I just got off the phone with Pioneer. They feel my unit is defective. Now I get to play the uninstall, ship back, and wait game.
  13. Good to know that it does indeed work. Maybe my unit is just defective.
  14. How big was the SD card that you got it to recognize and read? If you browse by folder and "play all" it plays it numerical order. Otherwise, you're right, it plays it in alphabetical order. What's the point of ID3 tagging if it's just going to ignore the track number? Have you contacted Pioneer yet?
  15. I picked up a 4000NEX for my car. Got it installed yesterday. The sound quality is noticeably better and warmer than my Kenwood KDC-X997. It plays CDs, streams media over Bluetooth, which connects faster than the Kenwood did. HDRadio works, and it plays 24bit/96KHz FLAC audio. The touchscreen is fast and responsive, and the UI is really great. What doesn't work though, is the USB functionality and SDHC functionality. The unit will not address SDHC media containing more than 2GB worth of files. I tried a 4GB, 16GB, and 32GB SDHC cards. It addresses SD cards just fine, but they are li
