  1. ok I figured it out..... it appears the headunit will NOT let you have MUSIC and VIDEO files on same USB to switch between.... once you add music files, video files get inaccessible....

That's not true. There's a button on the music timer on the left. A folder icon and you will see three options. MUSIC>VIDEO>PHOTOS. The HU automatically defaults to music the first time you put the SD card in.

  2. seems the harness is interfacing with the car. I have a chrysler with the alpine system. and I used the PAC AUDIO brand. There was someone here that used a maestro harness and it didnt work. Also do you have aftermarket amps installed on your??

  3. VSS stands for VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR. Also known a a speed pulse. If your vehicle has a bad wire. You should connected to it for a more accurate reading. It's part of the pioneer harness. In most cars it's part of the OEM harness. In my vehicle it was part of just connect the wires to aftermarket harness to the radio.

  4. Carplay is a huge selling point for the 8000. If you don't like the NAV then iPhone users can use iOS Maps for NAV.

My only real beef with the unit right now is the cluttered interface. It just looks like Pioneer wanted to go for flashy instead of practical. Big Fonts, big album art at the expense of information on the screen. An example is showing half a song title or artist name because there are preset buttons and album art on the sides. Again, Carplay will get around that if I use the Apple interface for Music and Spotify apps. Pandora looks pretty good on the 8000 as well.

I will most likely move from Kenwood to an 8000 in the next few months so I am going to miss Garmin, but Carplay is the bigger advantage.

You know you can turn on forever scroll for the information. Thats what I did. Now the text just scrolls on by.

  5. I think the speed shown by any gps navigation is calculated by measuring gps location traveled within a fixed time period, and is usually very accurate (with good gps fix) and can be more reliable than a vehicle speedometer when non-stock tire/wheel combo produces a different overall diameter.

I forgot about this too. IF you have oversized wheels lets say 20" on a factory 16" that was replaces your gps speedometer will be off. Then you have to go to the dealer to get it calibrated through the computer if your car is over 2006-and up. if its an older car you will have to get a calibrator chip to set the speedometer

  6. I have pretty much the same setup you have. My iphone is connected to usb1. Pioneer provides 1 USB extension cable. I also have the hdmi adapter connected. And I just added a second USB extension for usb2. I have my wires hidden in coin tray. It holds my phone and wallet in there. And it closes. So you can't see the wires.
