Working Bypass for Avic NEX units! Ok first off I'm new to this forum, but I'm a 24 year veteran custom intallation specialist, and the technician at an authorized pioneer repair center. That being said I coulnd't find a better place on this forum to post this but I have a confirmed motion bypass. The double pulse doesn't work. I tried it just to see if there was something to it but no such luck which is probabley a good thing since the bypass method i know of is easier lol. I installed an Avic-7000NEX and did a semi custom molded dash in my newer Suzuki Grand Vitara to accommodate the motorized face. They still haven't figured a way to make the motorized face usable in most standard dash kits but anyway here is the bypass. I should first tell you that reguardless if you do the bypass, if you hook the brake wire to ground it will work for a little while until the nav auto calibtares and it gives you the imporoperly hooked up brake wire error. The bypass is however just that simple, plus 1 extra step. Ground the parking brake wire, then on the av screen select off to turn the unit off, and then push the screen in the left corner about a half inch up and a half inch to the right and hold it for aproximately 10 to 15 seconds. The unit will fash in small print "set on" in the middle of the screen and your bypass is complete. It took me a second to get it the first time finding the right spot and such, but I garantee it really will work .
Enjoy and I hope this wasn't already posted, but I couldn't find it if it was.

Thanks for the info. The bypass thread is the very first thread. Stays at the top. But kudos.

I had trouble with camera, all I got was a white screed and then and figured out it was a defective camera. He
OP mentioned that they used different cameras. I think the trigger wire wasnt hooked up to the unit. Reverse trigger wire from steering column or positive trigger wire from taillight needs to be hooked to back of unit. I had the same problem. I hooked mines up the way the camera instructions tell. Positive to positve trigger on light. Black to ground. and video cable to signal. It didnt work for me. Than I realized that I saw a wire for reverse trigger in the back of the unit. And when i hooked up the wire to the back of the unit. VIOLA!!! IMAGE popped up. Also make sure the polarity settings is turned to BATTERY.

OP never got back to us

I love the navigation. Well I live in NY so all the 3D stuff is there. Plus im coming from a factory nav unit which wasnt touch screen, took forever to input an address. just plained sucked. But this is 10x better than anything.

Yea you need app radio mode. But when the iphone is plugged into usb mode you can see two options. Music & Video. But video is always unhighlighted.
-
Try starting the apps first then plug it in

If you select USB in the smartphone setup and then just use the lightning to USB cable, it will work. Don't use the HDMI TO LIGHTNING cable.
That's how I use mine without a problem.
What he said. You cant have all the cake and eat it too. Its one or the other. not both.

APP RADIO SUCKS BALLS. I think the majority of us NEX users dont use it. I know I dont. But were all waiitng for CarPlay from apple. Well us Apple folks. I was excited about app radio and when i tried it i said to myself "what is this crap?"

why dont you just listen through the cable?? USB1 is designated for iphones and ipods. But you can connect the ipod in usb2.
-
The display off is to turn off the unit. I doubt they will ever create a screen saver mode for display off. I use this button when I get to my neighborhood. Not the best area. Lol
-
What connections are you using
-
the radio has one and most vehicles have them. get your vehicle wiring diagram. it should tell you
-
its the brown input for back up camera
-
I was going to drop the 1400. but it doesn't hurt to save a lil money
-
Connect the trigger wire to the head unit. Theres a wire that is specifically used for the reverse signal
-
I may end up going that route, but I was hoping to buy from an authorized dealer and have a warranty on the unit.
Get the Square trade warrenty from ebay, Its worth it in the long run
