I'm going to try this. I can see the art work at night but not during the day. For day time where did you end up with brightness/contrast number wise. I was looking for a suggested starting point. Thank you!

Not to be redundant, but I installed 1.09 on my 4000 and upgraded Bluetooth yesterday. I had some issues with the unit recognizing the update (after looking for the update, it would say "NO DEVICE") from my flash drive but it eventually loaded fine after two resets. Seems a bit faster to load but that's probably a placebo effect from reading this thread.

All of sudden while driving and everything working flawlessly on Saturday during my drive I looked below just to find out my screen is white. Since then I've tried mounting/remounting multiple times but it still shows white screen from the initial start. Anyone know what may be causing this? I am able to connect my phone via usb and able to play music with a control of my phone.

I've had this happen when the screen connection wasn't making good contact. I usually unmount the screen and snap it back in to work - maybe rub the contacts gently.

You really think they ever will?

Hopefully a firmware update will resolve this in the future.

As someone who has both an Note 3 and iPhone 5S, would it be possible to have the NEX 8100 installed with both the Lightning Cable and the Android wire so I could alternate between using CarPlay and Android Auto or am I limited to one or the other?

I installed a virtual copy of Android in Parallels, downloaded the app, and it worked to reprogram. Just take laptop to car and plug in usb cable to box. I do note that I had to download Android from the web, the distro that installs from Parallels won't work since you can't access the Google App Store (maybe you can but I couldn't).

Apple Maps took me to a dead end across town from where it should have taken me this morning. I am not kidding.

Latest version should work with Carplay. I haven't been to my car to check, but this is a nice development.

That s*cks. My 4100nex will continue playing HD radio when connecting phone. Screen switches to CarPlay, but audio continues without interruption.

That's good news, meaning a software update will likely fix this.

Okay, I am super confused from reading this post.  Is it wireless, is it not?  Im downloading the IOS 8.3 software now. I just downloaded car play to my car.  If it works wirelessly, great.  But.....heres my issue if it doesn't.

 

My AVIC 5000 NEX only has the option for Bluetooth or a Micro SD card to be inserted.  I have NO usb port in my brand new 2014 Nissan Juke (little pissed about that).  So if I cant connect wirelessly, how the hell do I connect one of those lightning cables to my AVIC 5000 and use this damn app?!  Im stumped and so were the apple techs I was on the phone with.

No, these units do not currently have wireless CarPlay and 99.9% likely will not ever.  Go back to your installer and have them put in a USB plug for you.  It would be very easy to do yourself, but judging by your post, I think you should leave this to the pros.

Pandora is not added to the CarPlay interface as was rumored elsewhere. Pandora still must be started on phone before it will play thru the NEX (unless I'm missing a setting somewhere).

Not a rumor, Pandora has said they are going to release an update to the app. No timeline.

I have a 6100NEX installed in my BMW. Until recently the hands free button on my steering column was working with the unit to launch SIRI on my iPhone. But i had to connect an additional wire to the back of the unit and now that one button doesnt work. All other button on the steering column work fine (vol +, vol -, next track etc) Any ideas on why the hands free button no longer launches Siri? 

 

Any ideas would be great. Could it be a setting?

Couldn't agree more. I was very excited for the promise of CarPlay, and in the end the only feature that I actually use that wasn't in my factory radio is the HD Radio. I don't use CarPlay anymore in the least bit. It was a colossal disappointment. Never again, Pioneer.

CarPlay sucking isn't exactly Pioneer's fault.

Need a micro bypass for the 4000

I used the pioneer one, it's okay. I'd guess you could find a cheaper one with equal performance.
