  1. Um yes it has been.. Who the hell upgrades a radio to lose their factory options. Unfortunately because there is a lot of misinfo on the product and Pioneer advertises all over the place about its a maestro compatible product but doesn't use a majority of the compatibility options like Kenwood or Alpine its a joke.

If you don't understand then you a: are not an audiophile and actually use your radio or just ignorant to the issues...  WOW. I am sure there are many others who want to know the truth about the limited BETA functionality of these NEX units.

Well, that was meant to be a question, not an affirmative statement.  I'm shocked you got so upset.  That said, a google search reveals this "Pioneer: 2014 AVIC-NEX series receiver; the Pioneer AVIC-NEX series receivers will require a firmware update (coming soon) in order to retain Ford Sync, GM OnStar, and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep U-Connect (coming soon)."

Plenty of people upgrade their radios and lose factory options.  Some people just don't read the information on what they are buying, and feel like they've been slighted.

The rest of your rant doesn't make sense.

  2. I detest liars.

Pioneer claimed there was "no problem able to be reproduced" with the resume not working for up to a full driving DAY with 1.06 on a large external USB device (e.g. SSD full of media.) Well, they obviously reproduced something and fixed it, because 1.08 takes about 5 minutes to read my 120GB SSD on the first boot, doesn't play anything until it has finished, but once it does finish it picks up exactly where it left off immediately and thereafter.

In other words, the "no problem found" was a lie -- they not only found the problem I reamed them on they fixed it.

    I'm happy it's fixed.

I'm more than somewhat pissed that they didn't own up to breaking it in the first place.

PS: Sort order on tag lookup is still broken at the song (after drilling to an album) level, and is probably broken at the file level (if your disk directory itself is not sorted.)

I wouldn't go as far as calling them liars. They probably couldn't reproduce the supposed issue. Maybe they tweaked something else and it just happened to fix it? Anyway, I am glad that pioneer is actually updating the units still. I figured once the CarPlay update was pushed, we'd becer see another. Hope they continue to improve.

  3. Hey everyone, I wanted to start a consolidated thread of all the common issues people are having with the Carplay update.  My issues so far:

1: Loud POP through speakers when powering off car or removing faceplate

2: Audio quality of voice calls is terrible compared to Bluetooth

3: Head unit will randomly freeze & restart itself

4: Spotify app is mostly useless, unable to search or navigate "back" to previous menus

5: Other 3rd party apps such as iHeartradio & Stitcher not showing up at all

I feel like I'm missing a couple other smaller ones, will list them once I remember.

    4000NEX & iPhone 5 on iOS 8.0.2

I had 3 (lockup, reset) happen to me on the way home today - it took about 15 seconds after the lockup before the unit reset. I have also been having issues with Siri hearing/responding to my requests.

  4. Okay. My unit finally updated successfully, despite having to restart. This is good news for anyone else whose update fails during the process.

One note - if you are using the digital AV setting, you have to update to use USB or Carplay will not function (AppRadio seemingly would)

  5. WOW!!! Mine took all of 5-10 minutes! No issues at all! What unit and what iPhone do you have? Was there anything else on the USB drive or SD card that you used? Did you copy ONLY the folder within the parent folder to the drive?

I can tell you mine will take at least an hour at the current pace. I have a 4000. My mistake is the hdd I used (slow, old) -- but it's all I have as I have my other storage at my office.
