How do I change the time and date on the app radio 4 which uses the NEX 5000 based OS.
I can't see any options and touching the clock only brings up 24hr option and time zone -/+6hrs
Touch it.

Um yes it has been.. Who the hell upgrades a radio to lose their factory options. Unfortunately because there is a lot of misinfo on the product and Pioneer advertises all over the place about its a maestro compatible product but doesn't use a majority of the compatibility options like Kenwood or Alpine its a joke.
If you don't understand then you a: are not an audiophile and actually use your radio or just ignorant to the issues... WOW. I am sure there are many others who want to know the truth about the limited BETA functionality of these NEX units.
Well, that was meant to be a question, not an affirmative statement. I'm shocked you got so upset. That said, a google search reveals this "Pioneer: 2014 AVIC-NEX series receiver; the Pioneer AVIC-NEX series receivers will require a firmware update (coming soon) in order to retain Ford Sync, GM OnStar, and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep U-Connect (coming soon)."
Plenty of people upgrade their radios and lose factory options. Some people just don't read the information on what they are buying, and feel like they've been slighted.
The rest of your rant doesn't make sense.

Was that an advertised feature? If not, what's your point?

As an update, this issue seems to have resolved itself. I do not know if the issue was hardware or software based but very bizarre.

I detest liars.
Pioneer claimed there was "no problem able to be reproduced" with the resume not working for up to a full driving DAY with 1.06 on a large external USB device (e.g. SSD full of media.) Well, they obviously reproduced something and fixed it, because 1.08 takes about 5 minutes to read my 120GB SSD on the first boot, doesn't play anything until it has finished, but once it does finish it picks up exactly where it left off immediately and thereafter.
In other words, the "no problem found" was a lie -- they not only found the problem I reamed them on they fixed it.
I'm happy it's fixed.
I'm more than somewhat pissed that they didn't own up to breaking it in the first place.
PS: Sort order on tag lookup is still broken at the song (after drilling to an album) level, and is probably broken at the file level (if your disk directory itself is not sorted.)
I wouldn't go as far as calling them liars. They probably couldn't reproduce the supposed issue. Maybe they tweaked something else and it just happened to fix it? Anyway, I am glad that pioneer is actually updating the units still. I figured once the CarPlay update was pushed, we'd becer see another. Hope they continue to improve.

Today, when I put my screen on and started up, I was greeted with a white screen. As I messed with it, it was most certainly an issue with the contact between the screen and the HU. Anyone else have this happen? Solution?

Rdio app now works with carplay.
-
I've suddenly been having issues connecting to Pandora since the last update. It gives an unknown error. Pain in the ass.
-
Turn it down, Leo. LOL.
Honestly, I don't think you've given enough information to answer you, but your main issue is likely the OEM speakers.

All calls are handled over BT.
You need to edit this post to "No calls are handled over BT."
-
So what is USB call quality? Calls aren't handled over USB.
I actually think they are - if you try and connect to the NEX with carplay on, Bluetooth will not connect. Makes me think calls are over BT. I will confirm in the morning.
-
Now that I've used it more, I agree, it's terribly buggy. It's crazy that they had so much time to fine tune the software, yet, it's kind-of meh.

Hey everyone, I wanted to start a consolidated thread of all the common issues people are having with the Carplay update. My issues so far:
1: Loud POP through speakers when powering off car or removing faceplate
2: Audio quality of voice calls is terrible compared to Bluetooth
3: Head unit will randomly freeze & restart itself
4: Spotify app is mostly useless, unable to search or navigate "back" to previous menus
5: Other 3rd party apps such as iHeartradio & Stitcher not showing up at all
I feel like I'm missing a couple other smaller ones, will list them once I remember.
4000NEX & iPhone 5 on iOS 8.0.2
I had 3 (lockup, reset) happen to me on the way home today - it took about 15 seconds after the lockup before the unit reset. I have also been having issues with Siri hearing/responding to my requests.
-
Chill out with the hysteria all the time. Everyone complained for months on end about the delay. It ends. Complaints about everything else. Love you.
-
No, unzips to 5000nexIt should unzip to a folder named AVH4000NEX
-
What about usb?
-
That sucks. Time to call Pioneer.Pretty tried all this. It sits on this screen for about a minute then show a failed upgrade status.
-
On the way home yesterday, I used my phone with Waze and Pandora. Seemed like I had taken a step back, although I really have to thank Carplay for stopping me from jacking with the finicky AppRadio functions (since i had to turn it off). I really hope Waze makes it to Carplay.
-
You prob could change on iPhone.
-
I heard pop for the first time today also. jarred me a bit.
-
I only tried the voice recognition button, which worked the same as before - long press and Siri came up. I am subscribing to keep track of the info coming in.
-
Okay. My unit finally updated successfully, despite having to restart. This is good news for anyone else whose update fails during the process.
One note - if you are using the digital AV setting, you have to update to use USB or Carplay will not function (AppRadio seemingly would)
-
Just wanted to let you guys know...since it was taking so long, I had to turn off car and immediately upon turning the car back on, it started updating again. Now the car is in my work garage updating - hope it doesn't get stolen!
-
WOW!!! Mine took all of 5-10 minutes! No issues at all! What unit and what iPhone do you have? Was there anything else on the USB drive or SD card that you used? Did you copy ONLY the folder within the parent folder to the drive?
I can tell you mine will take at least an hour at the current pace. I have a 4000. My mistake is the hdd I used (slow, old) -- but it's all I have as I have my other storage at my office.
CarPlay !!! (Reviews, ...)

Has anyone resolved the crappy call audio issue? I resolved by unplugging my phone and using bluetooth for call audio instead of Carplay.
