  1. Since the latest update of Waze, I'm having a lot of trouble with screen orientation. Before, I would just plug in my phone and go. Now, if it is oriented any way but up, the screen will be upside down or sideways, etc. Never had this issue before. Also, sometimes when Siri comes up and then goes away, the orientation will mess up. Have to press the home button and then reopen Waze to fix.

  2. Here's something interesting I didn't realize before, the Ferrari uses an Alpine system - http://www.autoconnectedcar.com/2014/09/ferrari-wins-iphone-race-1st-carplay-connected-car-for-ios-7-8/.  Looks like Alpine has the upper hand - although most of us jumped on the Pioneer bandwagon simply for the early promise of Carplay compatibilty. The upshot of the Pioneer delay and Alpine saying it was coming to market in the fall is that Pioneer's false marketing worked, which probably ticks off Alpine as well as the users.

  3. Disappointed car play is late, very upset about AVICSync, but still enjoying my nex

Would rather wait for a nice polished product, than get the quirky, appradio

I agree with this. I'd rather have something that worked perfectly than half baked. I think the disingenuous advertising and lack of communication is what's so disappointing. I have never thought carplay would add significant functionality to the radio but it certainly was the reason I picked the NEX over the competition and other, cheaper pioneer options.

  4. As for Ferrari getting it first, I think we all expected that. But once that happened, Pioneer should have had it out there shortly after. As that hasn't happened, that seems to suggest even more strongly that Pioneer still hasn't gotten their programming right and Apple keeps sending them back to fix it.

Ferrari just released a couple of days ago.  Two weeks from now wouldn't be all that far away in the grand scheme of things.

  5. Lol we are both referencing the same article for the negative review. The problem with that article is that it's negative points are either about speculation of how Carplay will run or complaining there are no apps for an interface that isn't even out yet.

Haha. Oops. I should have paid more attention to your post.

I guess my thought is that Apple has a tendency to release products with strong functionality on a few features, rather than focusing on a lot of features that only work okay or are hindered by the hardware. e.g. The original iphone (no App Store), and Apple TV(which is still held back by Apple). This will mean that a lot of people will complain it's too bare bones to be useful. Anyway since pandora is baked into the NEX, I'm really only worried about Spotify (there) and Waze (will be months from release) being installed.

Where have you seen any reviews? The closest thing I saw to a review was this one guy who's grand total complaint was "my iPhone can do everything Carplay does" duh, your iPhone is powering Carplay. It's also doing it from a much larger screen.

Edit: here is the one meh article I'm referencing. http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/185815-apple-carplay-is-limited-functionality-all-there-is[/quote

I read another but here's what I found via google:
