  1. I don't have navigation and your complaints are part of the reason I didn't bother.

I bought the Apple Digital Converter over the weekend in prep for a road trip with my kids and to try and utilize app mode. Once I got it working, I like the implementation. However, I quickly realized Siri no longer worked and how finicky the connection was. This AM I literally spent ten minutes in my driveway just to start up Waze and Pandora. One issue is iOS making me press the allow button to switch etc. -- take away the prompts and the integration is a little more seamless.

I am very, very happy with the regular functions of the radio and functions outside of the whole AppMode hookup. However, I could have gotten these functions for a lot cheaper!

That's a long way to say I feel your pain, at least in some areas.

  2. Yes we will. Come back to this thread in two years and it still won't have happened.

Just because you think it won't happen is irrelevant because you, frankly, have no basis for your conclusion. Apple could easily release an open API for Siri -- many people expect it will. And, yes, Apple is very controlling and may make it nearly impossible, not unlike the current limitations for AppleTV, but you have zero support that it will never happen.

  3. No it won't. Siri will never control a stereo.

You're saying this without any basis. If Apple was to release an open API for Siri, Pioneer or idatalink etc could integrate stereo control in an app.

  4. I reread that article. Pioneer says nothing about the update coming within a matter of weeks. They only say "early summer" which is what they've been saying.

Yes, it was likely edited and is not surprising that they'd revert to the official company statement, rather than speculation by the presenters. When the article was released, it said a matter of weeks.

  5. I Had mine installed so I can park and not hit anything in front of me like concrete deviders.

So, what do you do, press the aux input button when you are parking to see the camera? I'm just wondering if that's more cumbersome than it's worth for my application.
  6. Beyond a backup camera, has anyone hooked up a second camera (or other input source)? Specifically, the 4000. How does switching to that video source work? I suppose this is a question of whether or not it would be pointless to hookup a second, front-facing camera.

  7. If you plug your iphone in before Bluetooth connection is well established, the phone will still connect but Pandora won't properly connect -- meaning you can listen via Bluetooth audio and see song info but cannot use Pandora interface.

Update : I deleted the pairing of my iphone on the unit (and vice versa on the phone) and paired it again, and this problem went away.

  8. I have no problems with phone connected BT and usb1 and have full control of pandora functions, also in smartphone setup I have USB chosen so I'm not too sure what you are saying is correct

I have my phone set as bluetooth, not USB, and I'm pretty sure (100%, in fact) that what I'm saying is correct since it happens to me. I chose bluetooth because I was getting poor audio when Waze tried to direct audio over bluethooth when using USB.

  9. If you plug your iphone in before Bluetooth connection is well established, the phone will still connect but Pandora won't properly connect -- meaning you can listen via Bluetooth audio and see song info but cannot use Pandora interface.

  10. "The upgrade will be available as a download from Pioneer’s website, which you can transfer to your NEX system using a USB key drive. When? Pioneer’s official line is early summer, but Cardenas called it a matter of “a few weeks†before the upgrade would be available."

  11. I installed the pioneer brand camera. The quality is only okay. I actually think the angle is a little too wide. I only half way set up the parking lines by setting them to match the lines in my work parking garage. Install isn't that hard but you have to know how to find the reverse bulb wire so you can trigger the camera. The best thing about the pioneer camera is that it always has power so you can see the camera anytime you want -- you can set others up this way too, just have to be intuitive in setup.

  12. I have the latest Ipod Touch and I was attempting to watch a video on the system and was only able to get the sound to come through. Any suggestions?

I don't think this is possible unless you use App Radio mode. Someone let me know if I'm wrong, so I can watch video from my iphone.
