  1. I have had the same problem in my 99 Grand Cherokee. My installer got lazy and did not connect the illumination wire to enable the night map mode (daytime mode = bright background at night/ night time mode = dark back ground at night) You will also have to enable the nightmode in the settings menue. He also did not connect the VSS wire! With that said I did the rest of the install myself whith the help of the forum. People wonder why we hate car audio installers? Its because they get lazy and take short cuts thinking the informed consumer will never know. This is the reason why we need to supp
  2. So i have figured out some of these issues. First: the N1 head unit will not always work with the N3 brain. Thus you have extra parts. Second: The N3 brain is not where the by pass switch is, its on the head unit (bottom side, under the silver sticker). Third: Paper Clips rule! Fourth: The N1 flex cable repair is emanate! Fifth: It is cheaper to by the sum of an AVIC unit with parts, to create a whole unit. Six: At some time you will have enough parts to have a complete back up unit.

My buttons on the face freaked out and the only thing that changed was the display scrolled all the letters when the unit was closed. Eventually I reverted back to the N1 brain and tried to start back at the begining but now my head unit freaked out and when I pushed the buttons on the face my system would restart, what a pain. Finally my head unit worked so
  4. The VSS wire for a Grand Cherokee WJ is located behind the instrument cluster. Its the orange with white stripe, you will have to use a splice crimp to connect the two. Also make sure you connect the illumination wire to activate the night mode screen on the N1 its located on the main wire harness with the head unit, which sould connect to the same color wire (orange) as the interface adapeter to the factory radio harness. As for the infinity system amp, unfortunately my installer fried my amp and he had to bypass the amp and direct connect to the wires. I guess I have to add an aftermarke
