That won't work, however, for the default apps such as Music and Audiobooks. They can't be deleted. Right now, the default apps take up most of the first screen.Carplay is going to show you all of the apps that work with it that are installed on your phone. The one way to delete them from your Carplay screen is to delete them from your phone.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the update (1.09) is only for the 4000NEX. Is there one for the 8000 too?The website states that the update is strictly for the 8000NEX. Has anyone tried it for the 4000NEX thru 7000NEX models? If so, what were the results?

I don't have GPS (it's the 4000NEX). But my bypass still works fine.Would you mind confirming your GPS was reset back to factory?
Also, did you have the bypass enabled before / or if not, does it still work now?
I'd like to give it a try this afternoon.

Well, I just took the plunge and updated. The update went fine and, so far, I notice absolutely zero difference. Boot time seems exactly the same. But, I guess it's good to be current.

Ever since the latest iOs update, I now have some extra icons on the front screen (5000) that I don't need/use- for example, Audiobooks, Podcasts and a few others. There's no way to delete or remove those is there? Just checking....I feel I know the answer but want to ask anyway.
Thanks!
Not a stupid question at all. I'd love to be able to edit the icons that appear on my home screen, but no, at this time there is no way to do so.

I'd like to install this if it speeds up the boot time, but I'm also wondering what this update might break that wasn't broken.
-
Did you install 1.09 or 1.10?Ok, so updates installed. There is both a firmware and a bluetooth update. I don't use bluetooth (carplay) but I installed them both. Boot up is faster. Built in iPod controller can once again control phones now with the new music app. No significant changes that I saw for how the music app operates but at least now it OPERATES. So I'm happy with that.
Pioneer says it's a bug fix update. My device is booting faster, and my built in music app works again. I'm happy.

Maps always had a 3D button but it didn't really do much. Just tilted the angle slightly. Any chance of seeing a screenshot of the updated fonts?Fonts are different, tighter looking, no layout differences though. Siri voice command wave is a lot more animated, maps has 3D now (dont remember that before?)

Any changes/additions from IOS 8.4 that you can see?Carplay on iOS 9 beta 3 is working flawlessly through the AVIC 6000NEX. Very responsive, Siri understands everything.

It almost seems like he was hoping CarPlay wouldn't work so he could go on an anti-Apple rant. Mine works great, by the way. Some minor bumps, but I use it and enjoy it every day.what is more to expect from an iPhone Hater. Fact is,, your problem has nothing to do with iPhone but more so in user error upgrading firmware. I would offer help but i don't want to get blamed for your stupidly. good luck!

All I know is, since installing 8.4 my CarPlay has been crashing like crazy. I went from having zero problems with it to having it crash every 90 seconds or so.
Actually, I want to take this comment back. I noticed that my iPhone was low on remaining storage space--under 300MB--and when I deleted some stuff and cleared up more room, CarPlay started working perfectly again. So, not 8.4's fault,

I use 600x600 files on my 4000NEX but anything larger than that won't show up.

I've been using Apple Maps for over a year and have never had a single problem. It's always taken me exactly where I needed to go. Better than my old Garmin GPS, actually.

how is the 256gb sd working these days? Just installed a 4100NEX and trying to figure out the best way to store my flac audio files...
I use a 128gb flash drive for FLAC files through USB2. Works like a charm.

Wireless Carplay is one of the fuctions they said should be good to go.
http://www.engadget.com/2015/04/08/ios-8-3/
Can you try?
It only works with certain kinds of cars. Supposedly there's a list somewhere.

where is the carplay settings on the phone?
My CarPlay setting didn't show up until I connected my phone to the head unit. Then, it was under Settings/General

I have been able to play video from the MLB app's archive and also a spring training game through my HDMI using the lightning connector adapter.
Right, but what I'm saying is that CarPlay will never allow that as a native feature.
-
probably, or it might show who's up next, batting average etc. kinda like game day maybe? I have an HDMI cable plugged into my 6000, so I can get games that way
I doubt you'll get any visual information like that, as Apple is adamant that CarPlay not be a distraction to the driver. So video isn't going to happen either.

I don't think MLB At Bat works with CarPlay yet, even though it's listed as a compatible app. It's never shown up for me and none of the app updates have ever even mentioned CarPlay.
-
I'm guessing the answer is no, but does anyone know if it's possible to replace a 4000NEX screen with a capacitive 8000 screen?
-
Interesting.. mine stops also, it just is a bit annoying..
Yeah, in a perfect world I'd rather it didn't happen. But as in all things Pioneer, you have to take the good with the bad, I guess.

My 4000NEX does the same thing, but I've kind of gotten used to it. It stops after a couple seconds and usually I'm playing music by then.
Carplay icons dumb question...but hey, those are my specialty
