  1. All you should need is an SD WiFi adapter and it has drivers for Windows Mobile.

And a wireless network somewhere within range, of course. Probably not going to pick one up driving down the highway...

If you have a Windows Mobile phone with WiFi you can have a WiFi access point anywhere!

It works great for my laptop through my Treo 800w.

Exactly. My Treo750 doesn't have wifi we got ripped on that, but that MiniSD Wifi Adapter works with my Treo, then put anothe one on the headunit and you have internet access.

  2. Yeah that's their famous suggestion. "Send the unit in to Pioneer". It's a known fact that Pioneer tech support sucks, but it's not that the reps are idiots, they simply don't know anything that's going on, nor are they told anything, so they really have no answers. Also the new update is rumored to be posted today or tomorrow.

I highly doubt that update will happen as planned, call me negative...

  3. I called Pioneer tech support today if nothing else then just to bitch them out for releasing a poor product unprepared for public use and the rep who was on the phone was a total idiot.

He suggested I exhange my unit and I said look man, don't try to tell me it's my unit, go online where there's 1000 problems with this this thing.

I did get him to confirm they are working on a firmware update but that's all he would say.

  4. Hey Guys-

I've read this post a couple of times over, starting out with zero knowledge of even how to make mods. but i've come a lil' ways. Trying to make the change to the "pioneer.ini" file so the video will work while driving. here's my process, and result. anybody see my mistake???

After copying "My Flash Disk" from the HU, of course.

    1) Navigated to "My Flash Disk\APL2\iGo".

    2) Copied the "DATA.zip" file.

    3) Put it elsewhere to work with it.

    4) Double-clicked it, viewing its content in WinZip.

    5) right-clicked on the "pioneer.ini" file, and selected "view" which opens it in Notepad.

    6) Make the change from 16.0 to 128.0 on the line: "parking_break_speed=".

    7) "File", "Save", X out of Notepad.

    8) Window prompt comes up saying: that the pioneer.ini file "has been changed since it was extracted. Update archive with this file?" - to which I select "Yes".

    9) It updates the "DATA.zip" archive and i close the Winzip window.

    10) Copy the modified "DATA.zip" file to the SD card and out to the car.

    11) Boot the HU in WinCE, and navigate to "My Flash Disk\APL2\iGo".

    12) Rename the "DATA.zip" file in there to "DATA-bak" (of course, still maintaining its ".zip" extenstion).

    13) Copy the modified "DATA.zip" file from my SD card and paste it there, along side the "DATA-bak.zip" file.

    14) Close out of all that, turn off the car, take out the SD card, turn the car back on.

    15) Go for a spin. After hitting approx 10mph the video feed from the DVD that's in there blacks out with the "Viewing of front seat video source while driving is strictly prohibited".

    'preciate all yalls' time!

And your parking brake wire is grounded?

  5. it should but the only thing is does the os have the network capbl. of reading the wifi network. you might have to do some modding to get it to work but that would be cool if you could. you might look at some stuff on xda develpors. you might find the code or the info to get this up and running.

i was wondering if that would work my self

It worked on my phone with windows mobile 5, not sure if CE supports it.

  6. I can't believe how buggy this thing actually is. I got the F90 installed yesterday and boy does it have issues. It doesn't recognize my IPOD sometimes at all when it boots up, locks up the IPOD at times, is slow as hell, etc etc etc

Anyone else having this ipod issue?

  7. I just got an avic-f700bt and downloaded the modified DATA.zip file from the thread to remove the blue boxes. Then after I successfully copied it from the SD card to the My Flash Disk/Apl2/igo. Then I wanted to do the software bypass to change the speed at which I am locked out of the unit and this is where I ran into trouble. I extracted modified DATA.ZIp file that I downloaded and went to DATA.ZIP\DATA\project_config and I edited the INI. I changed the parking_break_speed value from 16 to 128. Then I used winrar and compressed the folder into a zip that I named DATA.zip. I then put it on my sd card, copied it over and when I try to turn my unit on, it always says that it is booting up. I can get to my radio but since that box is saying System Startup or what not , I cannot access maps, bluetooth or settings really. Did I do something wrong when I was recompressing the folder?

You cannot extract the INI then re-compress it. You have to use WINZIP to modify the INI file while it is still inside DATA.ZIP.

(At least this is what I have come to understand.)

Those who have tried to unzip it, modify, and re-zip have had problems if I remember correctly.

  8. Let us know if you notice any glitches after the process. You may want to start a new thread "manually updating you firmware". Or something to that affect.

I do know that I used mine stock for a couple of weeks, just so that I can get a baseline of how it acts. So that later on after you start modding you'll be able to know if it's acting funny or not. Something you may consider...

    Peace Out!

I'm not going to update the firmware, just copy the data.zip file over like you did.

  9. I haven't actually installed my unit yet, that happens tomorrow, but I noticed that a couple of the units (mine being the F90BT) can play back DVD Dual Layer discs burned with MP3's. This being the case, you should be able to add another 9gb of MP3's or videos (in raw file form) from the DVD drive. Can anyone with at least the F90BT confirm it will playback DVD Dual Layers with MP3's burned in data mode?

  10. I modded the DATA.ZIP file from Pioneer's update without unpacking it using winzip, and here it is available for download. This just modded to bypass the lockout so you don't have to do the mute wire ground trick. You still should have to ground the parking brake wire.

It should be injected back into the file system here:

    \LPUE080\APL2\iGo

For those of you who don't understand how to modify this, you can just copy my version over to the head unit (after you rename the original one to data.bak.)

Please keep in mind this is untested. I am just going by what I have been reading on here. Please let me know if you experience any issues with this.

  11. I could really use this, I just bought a 90BT and all I want is the video bypass, and if possible the the adjustment to allow more memory to be used for applications. The reason I am asking is because I own a mac, and I have not been able to find a compression tool that will let me edit a zip file without extracting it....

If any one can help me out either with the modded files, or by pointing out a tool that will work on a mac, I would appreciate that.

    Thanks :D

I'll upload the data.zip file somwwhere for you man.

    Here you go brother.
