is this connected via APPRADIO mode or just iphone plug??

I hooked it up with the HDMI adapter (APPRADIO) and it worked just fine.

I ended up using a relay because I thought it was a cleaner solution. I also used the software hack as well. Works great.

Car Play was announced at the 2013 WWDC (I was there), and the API's have been available to developers since iOS 7 was anounced at that some conference. As an Apple developer, I believe you will see Car Play enabled by Pioneer along side a new 7.xx release of iOS 7. App compatability and performance are going to be the main factors. Rumor has it that 7.1.2 will be released soon, and I would bet this when Pioneer releases their update.

With Pioneer saying that Car Play is done, and they are waiting on Apple is most likely true. But that is just one manufacture. The OEM's, and the other aftermarket providers all need to have their particular implementations approved by Apple and working well with iOS 7 and iOS 8. My gues is they won't release it until all of the partners have their particular implementations ready. Othewise Apple might be forced to release more incremental updates to accont for minor differances between systems.

I was unsure as to the best way to set this up as well. So I ended up just hooking up both USB's with extentions (I had to buy one), an HDMI cable and the Aux cable to terminate in my console. Most of the time I am using Bluetooth or my lightning connection anyway. If I need the HDMI/Lightning setup, it's a quick connection. Everyone's use will be different, and when Car Play comes out, it will change again for a lot of folks.

I believe Car Play will need a lightning connection, so the lightning/HDMI cable will not work for Car Play. This is due to the fact that when the lightning cable is hooked up to the HDMI adapter, it is only good for charging, not data transfer. So it's best to keep the USB (1) extention terminating somewhere you can reach it.

I have the lead wire hooked up to the reverse light wire at the tail light, so it is only hot when the car is in reverse. With the camera RCA plug hooked up to my Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX (brown RCA jack on unit), the backup camera is only engaged when the car is in reverse.

The purple reverse light wire from the head unit needs to be wired to the main dash harness reverse light wire. I am using the maestro RR and a F01 after market wiring harness to attach to the stock car radio plugs.

My camera (Power Acoustik CCD-4XS) had two power leads. One that ran with the RCA, and one that was meant to run to the backup light. I ended up only hooking up the backup light end, and that worked fine for my install.

Now, the issue could have a simpler solution. My first installation of my camera, (which is very small and symmetrical) was upside down. I found this during my testing before running the RCA though the inside of the car. With that in mind, make sure there are no obstructions or other issues..(camera backwards etc.. Hey, it happens).

Plus, you can always check the camera by connecting it to any 12 volt wire, ground it and hook up the RCA to a composite compatible display or TV. Remove the radio for the equation and just test the camera.

No problem for me, I am way to cheap to use a valet service... But, it is a great idea. So far, I have not run across this in the manual. The only reference is to set a password in case of theft. Page 192 in the manual.

I noticed an unusual difference in the way the Sirius XM display shows station and channel information. I have attached two photos. In one example, the station and track information is shown in a white font, and the other it is light gray. Both have text to read, but the gray is much harder to read than the brighter white.

I have a pioneer AVIC-8000NEX and the Sirius XM unit is a SXV200.

Has anyone noticed this as well? My searching has not yet yielded an answer. No big deal, but I just need to know.

There are two camera inputs on the back. You need to plug into the brown RCA jack on the back of the pioneer, and enable the backup camera option in the tools menu.

I have my backup camera power comming from the backup ligh, so it only gets power when I put the gear in reverse.
