  1. Hey suri works for me when my phone is inside the glove box. I dont see how it can not use the external mic. It does however work only when not playing music. I have to pause the music and then say hey suri. It does not even work if its playing music at "normal" volume. Ron
  2. Sorry to hear to took a while. I have a vw and found the converter on one of the first couple links using a google search. Since my car did not come with a camera it was easy for me to find the correct one for the radio. That being said though I got the oem golf pop-out one so was not as cheap as it could have been. Ron
  3. You can keep it but most likely you need a converter. Most car manufactures do not use the rca connector for video. However there is most likely a converter that will convert the signal from the camara to rca. You should ask a car stereo place or search on the internet for the converter. Ron
  4. The car info screen of radios that support that screen allow you to read and clear TDC's as well no phone or scan tool needed.. I also have a scan tool for my car that allows me to program my supported options that the dealer disables or does not enable by default but its easier to just setup the radio using gauges i would want anyway but would not want to be taking up space. Ron
  5. the guages show more than listed as it shows acceleration, # of gals left and a couple more. You can only chose those that are supported by the car and the firmware version of the meastro controler. I was told about the nex and no guages as well. It doesnt really matter if you are holding out for carplay but if guages are what you want if your using the meastro rr then you really need to get a kenwood or alpine. I am sure though wether it be this years nex or next years nex guages will be added to a pioneer radio that supports the idatalink. Just because the car information option is the
  6. Yep I hear that. That is why if I get a radio this year before it comes out I am getting a kenwood. If the firmware comes out before I get a radio I may have to see how it works before I buy it. Ron
  7. Mixman, Here is the email I received from Idata sales when I inq'ed about a radio for my car. its a 2012 beetle. Unfortunately, the only choices you have for radio that will retain what you have in your car now are Kenwood (2014 DNN, DNX, and DDX with HDMI) and Alpine 2014 Navi models (INE-957HD, X008U). The Pioneer NEX series radios are listed as compatible but Pioneer has not yet released the update for the radios to make them work serially with iDatalink. That says it to me none of them work with idatalink yet? He may have been refering to them working serially specific if t
  8. MixmanThe Alpine already has full Idatalink compatibility. I have read here that the Pioneer will not, but will have some Idatalink compatibility.......How much? I would like to know. So take this for what it is but a tech from idata posted on another board that the nex radio will only support factory items when paired with the maestro dohicky. This means no gauges for the nex this year. Maybe next year radio's will have gauges. he also brought up that the nex does not even support the idata link yet. this firmware is supposed to come out with the car play firmware or maybe the one aft
