    peace out.

worked perfectly! Took less than 5 mins. Thanks, I was really starting to scratch my head. Sorry but it seems you are generalising when a lot of people are using non-US AVICs. There *may* be zero issues on US AVICs, but you cannot overlay that to *all* AVICs worldwide! Seceondly no whining from me, I just wanted a solution. I'm a big boy and not afaid to mod anything.

    Cheers dude, much appreciated!

    peace out.

I am in the same boat. I just installed the mod last week. Went pretty smooth. Initially the bluetooth was working 100%, I recall having a conversation about how cool the mod was while on bluetooth. However a couple of days later the bluetooth stopped working altogether. On the weekend I upgraded to an iphone 3GS and today confirmed it cannot see the F900BT either and vice versa. I was with my mate at his car audio store earlier and we verified that his nokia could also not see the avic and vice versa. He suggested getting a bluetooth update off the forum (don't even know if there is one anywh
  4. Ok, so it seems there is most likely an issue to be had there with power. Poor move by apple if this is case, as it going to cause no end of dramas for a lot people. Guess I'll find out for myself sometime late next week...
  5. Thanks for adding that. I was hoping someone would put to bed reported issues with the 3GS, just as others like myself had done with the 3G and 3.0. It just didn't make sense that the 3GS would have an all new issue with charging. I can't wait to upgrade to one hopefully late next week.
  6. Sorry, but I can't see the point. There is something wrong with your install if your bro's iphone doesn't work like a normal ipod when you hook it up.
  7. If you can't even charge your iphone it sounds more like your whole ipod interface wiring setup is wrong. As repeated here multiple times there are plenty of people with a working iphone-F900BT interfaces and iphone 3G. Did you already have an iphone 3G before getting the 3GS? There is zero reason for anything to be different in connecting a 3G vs 3GS, apple upgraded the processor and the camera, otherwise they are identical. Unfort given the rest of the world has to sit around twiddling our thumbs till the 3GS is available this next week, I don't have one yet.
  8. All releases of 3.0 since beta have essentially worked(give or take some early beta glitches) with the F900BT. I don't know what your issue is but it doesn't gel with the rest of us.
  9. That may all change in June with the rumored release of a new 32gig version. I agree 16gig would be way to small for an entire collection, especially if you are like myself and insistent on mostly 320kbps quality. Mind you it certainly keeps me going when away from home. This weekend is a good example, I'm playing all the music I need off it.
  10. I see, you have it more than well covered then. Only diff I can see aside from not have the awesome 160gb of storage, is that you have slightly more chances of having your iphone on you at times when you wish you had some tunes to play but are not carry the ipod. Maybe do transfer a few fav tunes across, never know when it could come in handy when ipod-less. Personally I would never have the time to fill a 160gb ipod, nor do I even have more than 15 gig of digital music right now on my media server.
  11. Yes, right, exactly as was stated. Bluetooth music streaming is of course another subject altogether. Surprised you don't want to use it for music. I was hesitant at first until realised how convenient it was to have my music on it and stop carting CDs between different cars and home...
  12. Yeah that side has never been an issue with any version of 3.0 anyway.. It's all been down to the interface glitch as far as I'm concerned.
  13. Ahh cool, I haven't tried beta 3 pairing yet, since I'm always using the connector in my main car. I also haven't been in my other car to use the deck in that to try it yet, but will do so when I get a chance. I'll test the F900 later as well just for kicks.
  14. Seen that and tried to see if it works on a Pioneer deck in another car that fully supports BT audio streaming, but bluetooth symbol doesn't come up on the ipod controls. This is quite odd as it goes against what the video on modmyi shows. I'm wondering if it's perhaps not released in the current beta of 3.0. On top of that I can't see any evidence that the F900BT has audio streaming capability, which in my case would be a highly redundant feature..
  15. Oh well mine has charged since day 1 of having a F900BT with ipod interface. Guess my Car audio guys did it properly... 3.0 beta 3 definitely causes no interface playback issues off the bat also which is nice, not that 1 or 2 have proven to be that huge a drama to work around, just a nuisance.
  16. it CHARGES??? Sounds very interesting I don't get it? what's so interesting about charging? I'd be really annoyed if mine didn't, but it always has on the avic ipod interface...
  17. Jeez I'm a tad slow on that, I haven't read modmyi for 2 days and bingo beta 3. To me the test of beta 3 will be whether it works off the bat with my iphone and car interface. That was the previous issue, which as I've said can be worked around very easily.
  18. It seems to me there is a firmware difference in there somewhere that will prevent the maps from functioning properly, other than that everything else works fine. My thought is the easier unit to take across borders is the F900BT, since you can definitely load different GPS software into it because it is more like a real computer thanks to it's Win CE operating system. Moot point for me though now since I caved in and brought one locally. Still a lot of fun to hack though.
  19. Correct. Be it playlist or however you have you music setup, in my case albums I manage manually and copy into a playlist on the iphone. I've had zero hiccups since the initial repeat of the original connection issue after the beta 2 update nearly a week ago.
  20. Aren't you being a tad impatience. 3.0 beta and the new SDK have been out for a couple of weeks. I'm sure there are some people who would be keen to develop such apps, perhaps even Pioneer given time(certainly not going to happen overnight with them). As it stands there's still plenty of time for people to develop avic enhancing apps to be available when 3.0 is officially released in June...
  21. I've been running 3.0 for 2 weeks now. I can report actually that I discovered a glitch which will screw up the interfacing with the F900. Initially immediately after I upgraded to 3.0 the audio was working, but I found the next day I was getting 'could not connect' errors. However, it seems I accidently stumbled upon a solution. Somehow if you move music around on the iphone, copy new albums, delete some, it gets the interface going again. After a second time having the issue, I did just that and voila, it was working again, fine for over a week. Now having gone to 3.0 beta 2 in the last 2 da
  22. Well I would say I have now spent enough time trying various hybrids of the Z3 and HD3 software. Unfortunately the closest I seem to be able to get is that I have maps and all other functionality working, but the GPS never initializes. At this stage I have declared that I've spent enough time on the project. There is literally nothing left to try in the software. In the meantime I've also come to realise that the F900BT has a bunch of features much more suited to my needs, especially the iPhone compatibility, one thing which really failed to impress with the Z2/Z3. Also, some of the GPS data d
  23. I'm still working on it and have been kind of busy. I found the I have to go and re-image the local software as my copy got corrupted when I upgraded the PC I had it on a couple of months ago. I finally got some time a couple of Saturdays ago only to work out that the local image I was working with was corrupted. So I now have to find time to go and get another copy off my friends AVIC HD-3. You can see the files on the AVIC drive no problems, just make sure you've done all the standard unlocking explained here on the site.
  24. Good news I finally got stuck back into 2 nights ago and it seems like I've succeeded. In the end I simply overwrote the HD3 map files folder on to the Z2 and bingo, Australian maps. I just have to take it down to my friends shop and make sure everything else is working as it seems to be. So in the end it seems all we need is about 1.5gig worth maps, unsurprisingly a far smaller amount of data than the U.S. maps hold! I bought the bluetooth adapter online for the Z2 cheaply from the U.S. as well. The commonly available Pioneer unit available here is the same, just a bit more expensive(uns
  25. Sorry for the lack of reply. Short answer is yes. It will work, but I need to finalise which files need replacing. I can boot the Aus image on the Z2 but I lose button labels for some strange reason. So I tried copying some directories from the US to the AUS image and found that's what needs to be done. This was before xmas, then I got busy. I'm on the verge of starting again and reckon I should have it done quickly as I can now set it up at home instead of taking time out my day at my friends shop to do it, which wasn't convenient. Will have an update in the next few days.
