  1. Is it possible to use a bluetooth headset which connects to the Z110 and bypass the cheap wired mic from Pioneer?

From what I've read the Parrot mics are not changing the problem which leads me to believe its an internal software or electronics issue, not the mic.

This is strange since we replaced an F900 Pioneer which had GOOD BT performance but the unit itself was plauged with being slow, long lag times etc. So now the Z110 does have faster response times and start up but the reverse it the problem, the BT sucks. In fact I've found it works just a tad better when the mic is furthest from the driver.

  2. I've done all the updates to my Z110BT, including the $160 map updates, plus the latest 2.03 firmware, moved the mic from the rear view mirror to the far left next to the visor and still the sound quality is poor. Mine sounds a bit muffled instead of clear. Sometimes it sounds as if the words run together. Has there been any other fix or remedy? Oh and I also tried wrapping tape around the end of the mic as well, no go.... :(

  3. I just installed my Z110BT, everything seems to work, CD, IPOD and HD radio but the regular AM or FM are both grayed out. Does this have something to do with HD radio being installed. On my old F series and D3 I had both, HD radio and regular AM and FM. Any suggestions?

    Thank you

I took photos of the back of my F900 series and my new Z110BT, should I post these photos for people who are thinking about upgrading from a F series to a Z110 or Z120? It shows the different connections needed. Basically the RCA connection cable was the only major change, the harness from the F900 plugged right into the Z110Bt. The other issue I had was the mute cable was connected on the F900 series but needed to disconnected with the Z110BT or the att was always on. VR works much better, screen touches are immediate. I'm happy with it.

  4. I would use DVD Copy 123 or something like that to make a copy of my Blue Ray disks and then move them to an IPOD and play them that way. Handbrake is another good program for reducing file size. First it was CD where you had about 800mb of space then we went to DVD and went past 4gb of space. While the size of content that can be put on a disk has grown as stated viewing it on a 7" screen does not make it that appealing. OK so a blue ray disk could hold much more data on just one disk but then I prefer to get rid of disks and have it all on an IPOD with 160GB. Just my opinion.

  5. I'm having a problem searching this site, usually if you wanted to find the term "bi amp" you would use " before and after the two words and it would only search for those two words found together. However when I put "bi amp" in the search box it looks for "amp" and then finds too many to find what I'm searching for. This happens in advanced search.

What do you enter into the search box to look for posts about BI AMP?

    Thank you

  6. Has anyone ever found a site where someone tested all these rear view cameras? Everyone seems to look for quality but it appears the only variable is price. Sales folk will steer you to the more expensive units but that does not always mean better image. Unless someone had them all side by side to compare it would be hard to comment. Most people install one and feel the picture is OK and there is not much difference from one to the other. Is there a difference between the $300 Sanyo that has birds eye view and the cheap $99 Boyo camera?

  7. HD Radio sucks, I added the HD option to an F series and have it with my D3 and I am not happy with it. While the concept was sound and it appeared something I would want I rarely use it. Now I live on the fringes of Los Angeles where we do get reception but not all that often and it comes and goes. So while the sound quality when you can get it is nice the fact that it drifts far too often makes it something I rarely use. The interface was a big disappointment. If you expect all this digital information forget about it, you get less information. The presets are a joke (no info attaches to them). As stated its the same interface as the normal AM-FM but Pioneer just did not implement HD as well. The biggest issue is if you don't live IN a big city or if you move from city to city it might not be for you. HD is in no way sat radio. Reception is the biggest issue, data is the second. This is for me, I would suspect there are others who enjoy it being located within a large city.

HD TV has the same issues, while back in the day when you had rabbit ears you could get a decent picture even if far from a large city. Now you either get it or not, there is no gray area. Campers will find this a big problem, HD just does not get out far enough for people to pick up. The old analog had its faults but you could get a signal miles away, OK maybe not perfect but you got one.

Not sure if I'm making sense here but I was disappointed with HD radio from the start, nice concept but its not all that. The interface? Be prepared for plain, not much info and basic.

  8. Is the IPOD interface that much better on the Z110BT then the old F series? I have a D3 and know someone with a F series and did not see that much of an improvement from D3 to F series. Even with the latest software the F series is still slow, command touches are slow and things tend to stick or take their own sweet time.

Z series was cool, pop in a CD and it rips its own songs from it. I agree it was way too expensive but still built in "Japan". Ever notice when things start coming from China the prices bottom out.

Anyone ever find out what the biggest sized hard drive was which you could attach and use with a Pioneer unit? Can you plug one of those 750gb WD portable USB drives into one?

  9. I installed an F series and I recall there IS a button at the top right of the screen where you can have the complete rear screen show the rear view as you drive. We hooked it all up as instructed in the manual, it was a small Panasonic camera we used with nice picture, got it on Ebay new for $100 shipped. Images were sharper then Boyo in my experience. Also good night images. I also think it was hooked to an AV port on the F series. But really to get to see the rear view while in motion forward it was not big deal or difficult to figure out.

  10. I have a D3 and tried an F series a year back, while the main harness was the same some of the wires did not seem to be the same so I had to change the wires on the harness. It's also true the GPS antenna differs, I did not know you could change the connector so I re-ran the wire. I could use my HD radio module but the other items for the D3 were not compatible. Good luck, it appears upgrading from the aged D3 is worth while. I still stuck with my D3 due to the slow F factor.

I'd love to hear from X D3 owners who have up graded to the Z110BT and how they like it. I remember paying about $700 for my D3 when it was the only thing out there and today you can get a Z110BT for a little over $750.

Is it faster and more refined then the new X series that replaced the F series? Is Pioneer going to come out with a model above the Z110BT, I'm not talking about a Z120BT either but something even higher in the line? What about Premier units? Or is this Z110BT the replacement for the Z3 or old top of the line complete?

  11. I have a D3 and recently had a F900 series that I tried out, I would assume its not much different then the new X series. I too was concerned with what changes as far as harness and plugs. I can tell you this. You'll have to change the GPS antenna since the plug is different. The microphone had a different jack as well. The main harness for the unit us the same however some of the wires going into the harness differed a bit, I recall I did the hack on the D3 so that might explain a different wire. The unit did work with the same harness but it did have some issues. Hope this helps as I was in a similar situation.

  12. Thanks, I had a problem with MSN direct, I did not complete the MSN portion of the update so it would not work and any time I put either SD card in I got a card read error. The key to resolving this for me and getting the MSN update is to turn the car OFF. Put in the SD 2, start the car, allow the system to boot, wait for MSN to connect, then go to "Status" and the updates starts on its own, 8 minutes later your done. Thanks to the previous poster for pointing out the steps, particularly inserting the update SD only when the car is OFF.

  13. I did the update CNSD-100FM on my Pioneer Premier AVIC-F90BT which I paid $60 for plus $10 shipping and tax.

I had no problems with the install but did not complete the MSN portion. Took about 35 minutes when using SD card 2.

unit seems to boot faster, better touch screen reaction time, everything seems to work better, I would recommend the upgrade to anyone who has not yet upgraded. The F90BT is more what I wanted when I first purchased it.

Just wanted to add my two cents, since some people reported problems, I was expecting some but they never happened.

    Thanks

    Pioneer :D

  14. About a week ago I bought

"Pioneer Navigation SET East&West CNDV-80MT 2009 Update!" for $21 on Ebay. I read the feedback for the seller and knew that the disks that were coming were in fact copies. Today I got my two disks, not even as pictured on the auction, while I don't care about the graphic on the disk, the auction shows two disks with the Pioneer graphics. What I got were 2 blank Memorex DL disks with sharpie writing, "West" and "East".

Ok, no big deal, I pop the west into my AVIC D3 and get a "read error" message, I pop in the east and it appears to start loading data up updating something. Then a grey box pops up and tells me inappropriate disk insert the appropriate disk. Well at that point it won't accept any disk, not the previous 2007 originals or the new copies. It will still play CD's, IPOD and radio but won't allow me to press the "Nav menu" button in the upper right corner.

I had read on here that if you could change the languages you could get it to re-load but I can't seem to get it to that point to select "settings" within the Nav Menu. I've done the reset with the ignition ON and with the Ignition OFF. Same deal, grey box with inappropriate disk load appropriate disk or a black screen.

Perhaps some one knows how to do a master reset or something to resolve this. In any event take care when you think about saving money and buying DVD copies of the Map Updates. Mine did NOT work.

  15. Perhaps this is already been stated somewhere on the forum. If it has please direct me to the proper thread.

I have a D3 and was eager to upgrade to an F900bt or F90bt. From what I've read here and on other sites it appears the functionality of these two units is in question. Some state that the firmware fix has solved the problems while others state problems still exist. I'm not talking about the slow boot or start up issue as I can accept that seeing the unit is compared to a computer that boots. What I want to know is it worth buying and does it function as promised or as advertised?

    1. Which is better the F900bt or the F90bt? I understand the extended warranty, included cable and 4volt output but other then that do the units perform the same with Voice recognition, Blue tooth etc? Can I assume they are identical and have identical issues and problems?

    2. Has the Blue tooth problem been solved? sound quality? connection issues?

    3. Voice Recognition "VR" does it work as promised, does it work with Navigation, Ipod and Bluetooth phone?

If the answer were simple one would not read the posts from those who have given up totally and not looked back on the F series. Then those who state it has issues but they learned to deal with it. Finally those who seem to think the only issue is slow boot.

Thanks for your input. Sorry if this is answered somewhere else and I did not post in the right place. :D

  16. From reading other posts I think this question has been asked before and it's found that the D3 has a fault regarding how far you can search. 10 miles in any direction seems to be the max, I was hoping there was a work around or patch to this however that does not seem to be the case.

Speaking of patches and firmware updates is this possible for the D3?

  17. I've had a AVIC-D3 installed for about 6 months now.

The only issue I have is when you're driving in an area and want to search for "POI" ie restaurants, gas stations etc. The D3 seems to only find things that are within 10 miles, otherwise it finds nothing. My Garmin would find what ever you're looking for no matter how far it is. Is there a way to do this or a work around?

    Thanks
