Do I need to drag the entire folder into my usb drive in order to update my stereo or do I need to only drag individual files over? If so which ones?

I cannot update my firmware! I've tried through usb and sd card it keeps on saying i need to only have the update file on the card or usb but there is nothing on the card except for the file what am I doing wrong?
