  1. I put in the parking brake switch for my N1 and switch it on after it boots up and most of the time I do not get the parking brake error message but as soon as I start moving the nav functions do not work.
  2. OK, so I put a switch on the parking brake wire to ground it but it does not seem to make any difference. Sometimes when I turn the unit on I still get the parking brake error message even with the switch off. Even if I don't get the message after I turn the switch on all the functions are available and then after a few seconds I get the message and the functions go off. Is there some sort of sequence as to when I should turn the switch on? If not I wasted a lot of time.
  3. I just installed the 70 series disks and now I have the same problem. It is intermittant.
  4. Well my first searching did not answer my question but since I have done this post I have spent more time browsing and have found that the N1 gives this error message unless the it sees the parking brake on AFTER booting. I don't understand this logic. Don't most people have the parking brake on when they start the car and the unit then comes on? In any case if it is true that you can get all the nav functions by installing a switch to ground the parking brake signal after booting then that seems the easiest way to go.
  5. I bypassed the parking brake when I first bought my N1 and everything worked great while driving. Then I upgraded to level 60. I realize that I can no longer perform the same functions while driving with this level. But I am curious as to why I get the connection error message even when not moving. As far as the unit is concerned my parking brake is on and I am stopped. So how can it determine that there is a connection error in the parking brake? It does not affect operation after I reply OK but it is a nuisance and I am curious. I may eventually do the soldering bypass.
