  1. The screwed up thing is when I get into the service menu and select the stuff the versions that are showing are what's on the disk. I am using the 2005 disk that came with the unit. How is that possible?

And the GPS part says NG and won't load the version that's on the disk. Just says NG after I force the write.

  2. When you see that screen, release the eject button and enter the password, even if there is no password prompt. It takes a few tries to get it right, but it does work.

Just to clarify acouple things Jason. Is it both Eject Buttons? or just one?

Also when rolling back what disk do I need to have? I have the Original Disk that came with the unit. At one point the unit had a burned CMT80 disk that worked I think... The disks that are in it now that screwed things up was the CMT90. I tried the CMT100 disk but still does the same thing... It updates but then just returns the insert proper disk.

So am I able to revert back to the OG Disks? Or do I need to find all these disks?

Or should I just send it to Pioneer to get fixed.

    Thanks for all your help.

  3. 1. How to start the test mode

    1. When +Battery and ACC are ON, push RESET and EJECT buttons simultaneously.

    2. Release RESET button only.

    3. When “password entry screen†is displayed, release EJECT button.

    4. Enter the password.

The password is [ (up)] [ (up)] [ (down)] [ (down)] [ENTER].

    5. When the password has been entered, press [ENTER] key.

    6. If the correct password has been entered, the test mode menu will be displayed.

Then it gets a little complicated, I found a post that seems to describe the process: http://avic411.com/index.php?showtopic=18120

When I press the Eject and reset button down and release thje reset button I get a

Press Reset Prompt and nothing else. When I press reset it reboots the system and that's it no password screen

  4. I know the issue is with the unit. It has to do with the incorrect disks. They are burned disks and they messed up the unit.

What I am trying to figure out is will a new set of the current year disks fix the problem or do I need to take it to Pioneer and have it serviced.

Or is there some sort of roll back instructions I can use to roll it back to the factory disks I have that came with the unit when it was brand new 3 years ago?

  5. Hey guys,

Well so it happens again. I bought a new truck and this truck has a D1 unit. I have had it for 3 weeks and just got the Insert Proper Disk Error.

I called the person I bought the truck from and he doesn't have the OG Disks that came with the truck. He gave me burned ones that he had.

So my next step is should I try a newer set of disks? or just pull the unit out of the truck and take it to Pioneer and also buy a set of new disks?

If my memory serves me right this error was almost impossible to fix on your own.

    Thanks guys.

  6. Hey guys..... I just bought a Ford Sport Trac used and it has a AVIC D1 with an XM Module.

I am looking for help on if there is any way of doing Bluetooth with it? I have searched high and low and can't find anything. Anyone have info or input?

  7. Ok well I was in the service menu of my D2 and if I go to GPS test I get:

    Dragon Connect: NG!!

Also under Program Force Write this is what it says:

    System Version: 1.00

    System OS: 1.03

    System Program: 1.03

    GPS Program: NG

    Application Program: 2.010050

    Change INIT: ON

    Select Language: USA

I am guessing that the NG is a bad thing??? I can't get rid of the Proper disk screen on my system and I have tried going back to the OEM disks that came with the Unit.

Do I get the feeling this unit is a brick now?

  8. Hey guys,

I have a D2 and am trying to Roll the unit back to a previous disk.

have figured out how to get into the service menu. But I am not sure what steps I need to do once in the Service Menu to roll back to a previous version.

Can anyone give me the info or point me to a thread that has this info in it.

I know that I can this thru changing the Language but I can't access that as my system shows the Insert Proper Disk error and I have no access to anything except the service menu.

  9. As far as your question about the service menu, you might try these steps below. Also note that this requires you to have a D3 remote.

Getting to the service menu and these steps are exactly like the D1 pretty much. You will have to have the remote and one of your original discs.

The numbers on the remote work like a 4 way dpad when navigating. The 5 key works as enter in some menus, in some menus the 7 key did the job i think, and in some menus 1 was Back instead of 4 i think. I could be wrong about these but you shouldn't mess anything up pressing the wrong one.

    Service Menu

    1. Hold eject and reset at same time, release reset button once screen blanks out. Do not release eject button yet.

    2. Screen will say "please push reset button". Release the eject button at this point.

    3. Take your remote and enter 8 1 8 3 7 2 0 8

What does the above service menu and code do? Would this work on a D2? and is this allow you to roll back to a previous disk?

Yes this will allow you to roll back to a previous disc. There is a different procedure though if your using a D2. You actually don't have to have a remote if you have a D2. You can check out THIS THREAD for information on how to get into the service menu on the D2.

FYI though if you unit boots up then you don't need to use the service menu to roll back your map software. You can just change the language on your unit by going into the settings and selecting a different language. Your unit will then ask you for your NAV DISC. At this point you can insert the disc that you wanna downgrade to. The unit will then install the map software in that language. Now once you do that your obviously gonna wanna change back to the ENGLISH language, so then go back into settings and change the LANGUAGE back to English. Insert your downgrade MAP disc again and now this time it will downgrade your unit with the correct language.

What do you mean by Boot up?

When I turn on my truck my unit goes right to the Insert Proper Disk. I have no navigation and I can't get that screen to go away... I will check out this thread you posted and see what I can do.... I have had a hard time finding any way of rolling back this D2. Hope that thread will help.
