  1. I really like the CarPlay part of the Pioneer deck but I like to have options. Pioneer stated last year that AvicSync was coming by the end of the summerof 2014. Now it's by the end of this year. It's even listed in the owners manual of the nav nex units as coming soon. Pioneers AppLive, AppRadioLive software didn't work for me. If it wasn't for CarPlay I would of bailed to another company. I'm just ranting as I know that Pioneer doesn't read the things we post. It's a shame. ( I'm off my box now )

  2. JonUNH82 and others, I've contacted the vendor and got a RMA. I have tried every combination of setting to try and change. So much so that I know the settings almost in my sleep. I'm going to try one more Pioneer 4000NEX. I contacted Pioneer service and got an auto response from them saying they will get back to me as soon as they can. Nothing as of the end of day on Tuesday. Frustrating. I'll have a new unit hopefully on Friday. I'll update then.

  3. Is there a way to do a factory reset on this head unit? I know about the button on the right side where the tracking buttons are. I'm having CarPlay, firmware and Siri issues and was looking for a hard reset. Is there one or just the reset hole on the front?

  4. I don't hear Siri at all while in CarPlay. The microphone comes up and then the line which should change as talk to Siri but for me the line stays straight across and then times out. The problem is, it worked for me but I can't remember which firmware and which version of iOS? Frustrating to say the least.

  5. Zaggin,

There seems to be Bluetooth issues with iOS 8.0. The first update to 8.0.1 caused connectivity issues with the phones carrier so they issued 8.0.2. You can't update to 8.0.2 now so to correct your issue you will need to upgrade to 8.1. Thus has taken care of most of the problems with the iOS. It doesn't correct our Siri and CarPlay issues however. 8.1 I believe will take care of your connectivity issues but there are always +'s and -'s in doing upgrades. Good luck.

  6. The audio going into Siri still is my problem with CarPlay. I've changed the firmware to 1.06 to 1.08 and back again. I'm wondering if it's a "privacy" issue with CarPlay. When you go into settings on the iPhone and go into privacy it lists the programs using the microphone. I don't have any program listed. I would think that CarPlay would show up there. Anybody else think of what might be causing this problem. I have a tech request in since Thursday with pioneer. Apple said its a Pioneer problem, of course.

  7. Thanks Pjrm68. I saw a pice on the apple website talking about what is happening between Siri and CarPlay. Their techs were aware/working on it. Today when I go into the piece and it's gone. I have tried several times this morning to activate a ticket but the system must be down or there is a conspiracy going on here between Siri/CarPlay . .

I'm just trying to eliminate the variables. I do want this to work and I'm not ready to give up.

Will work on it again this afternoon. Is there a way to do a factory reset on the ?HU? I know about the reset button but I want to back farther.

  8. Thoughts for today....

Originally I updated the firmware to 1.06 using a usb stick and usb1 on the back. I did have CarPlay working for a while ( day or so ) upgraded to 1.08 using the SD card. That's when my Siri issues began. I returned the firmware to 1.06 using the SD card and still no Siri.

Any thought on the SD card mode of upgrading the firmware causing the problems? I can't try it out now.. Maybe tomorrow.

  9. Phil, I've changed the volume while using Siri and it adjusts "CarPlay Volume" I can adjust the alert volume but this doesn't seem to do anything. I've adjusted from zero, 3, 15 and 29. Nothing. I've turned Siri all the up using the volume buttons on the iPhone. I tried turning Siri off but then it won't let CarPlay work at all.

  10. I'm in the same boat. Siri's volume is so low that Siri times out. I've updated from 1.06 to 1.08. I had the same problem when I was using 1.06 ( although I know it worked at the beginning). I've tried turning up the alert volume up to 18 but this didn't work. It works fine while not in CarPlay, with the iPhone not plugged into the USB/Lightning connector. I'm going to try a couple of things and report back. I'm using a 4000nex at 1.08 and a iPhone 5s at 8.1 iOS.
