1. Well even with aftermarket ones they will be prone to breaking if she continuously abuses them.

So your control of the situation is to tell her to turn it down and take care of them or she'll have to deal with shitty sounding speakers.

Show her the signs on what to listen for so she knows when its too loud for the speakers.

Then I suggest just getting some speakers that match up with the radio, or outperform it (according to your 50Wx4 or whatever specs you have). Then if you are putting in a sub, but a crossover on the door speakers or some bass blockers to help the cause out some more.

Then make sure 100% that the speaker wires are run properly and NOT hitting anything that could ground them out, this would be very bad. Anywhere along the wire, yes even with the plastic/rubber on can get interference by hitting a ground area.
  2.

first question how do I ground a parking brake, Its for the Avic N2. Would a person at Best Buy know how to do this??
If you are saying grounding to do the Bypass, Best B or Circuit C won't do it. Just attach it to the Ground.
Circuit City near me does it, just have to sign a waiver of liability.

It's simple, find a ground (steel, frame, bolt) and then connect the wire to it, done.
  3. Well I managed to get the Z1 to fit in an 04 Focus, which only has a 1 3/4 DIN slot. Still working on putting in the modifications to make it look factory, but it works rather well.

Just check the measurements of the hole you have to work with as well as getting it to show through fully.

There is an A/V input that your Sirius should be able to plug into if I'm understanding you correctly. Though since the Z1 can directly control Sirius and XM, I'd suggest trying to find an option that goes that route.

  4. Well after last night finally got them to hook up the speed pulse as well as the rear signal wires.

That pretty much solved the problem.

There are just some places out there that don't have the experience with the unit yet. So they have no idea what they are cutting when they are trying to make other things work. No idea why they would cut an already existing connection for the life of me.

But at least its over with now.

  5. Yeah, I read on the forum before I got the unit that the unit may use the reverse wire to help out with navigation in that sense. So I had them hook it up.

Now it may or may not be true. Of course I am also getting no speed pulse either, which accounts for the Vehicle Dynamics, even though I don't see that the wire is actually unhooked.

Its just a whole frustrating case, especially since every time I take it back to get it fixed they don't have their Z1 person work on it. Just doesn't make sense.

  6. No its not the button that switches between true north and always having the car point to the top of the screen. I know what that does and this is not the problem.

The problem is during the last install batch my installers for some reason disconnected at least the rear signal wire. Now the Speed Pulse nor that are registering and all of the related Vehicle dynamics are not functioning.

Also, most of the time the direction my car is facing according to the Z1 is off, by a good amount, sometimes more than 90 degrees.

My thoughts are that if they hook this wire back up and make sure the speed pulse is hooked up properly that it should work again. Though I want to make sure I'm 100% positive.
  7. So I've been using the Z1 for a few months. Everything has been working just the way its supposed to.

So I had my local installer attempt to put in a rear view camera, power inverter and game port. They managed to somehow not get everything installed how I asked and also disconnected the reverse wire which has been hooked up all this time.

Now when I drive, the direction arrow of the car stays in the same direction most of the time and when it does change it is constantly off from the true direction of the car. I.e. when driving on a road heading north, my direction arrow says my car is facing east yet somehow driving in a northerly direction.

On top of this, everything but clock, direction and voltage are showing up as "This function is currently not available." in the vehicle dynamics screen.

Currently having them redo the work with a more experienced employee, so hopefully that fixes the problem (by having him reconnect the reverse wire).

Has anyone ever heard of this occuring or any causes/fixes?

Also, does anyone know how to change the background picture in the vehicle dynamics? Not the three base sytles, but the actual background that shows up in the styles.

  8. The software that is already yours is NOT already yours. What you have purchased is a license to use the software a set number of times. After a certain number of installs it no longer validates via the original key. So what you need to do is call Microsoft who will give you a new key to use during the install. It doesn't take that long and is fairly easy, if not a bit tedious.

Once we can figure out a way to upload images to the Z1 permanently, instead of using the discs all the time, I'll be all over that.

We already have that... you need to unlock your hard drive.

Then you can upload as many as you like to the LDATA drive, there is an image directory there, but they are all BMP files.
Already knew about that, basically meant I'm waiting for a safer method.
