I distinctly remember having to reset my head unit every time that "extra wire" is removed. Its a July unit and it never bypassed until I reset it.

This may sound trivial, but did you reset the unit after hooking up all those wires?

Well even with aftermarket ones they will be prone to breaking if she continuously abuses them. So your control of the situation is to tell her to turn it down and take care of them or she'll have to deal with shitty sounding speakers. Show her the signs on what to listen for so she knows when its too loud for the speakers. I am failing to see how resetting a default value would be beneficial. I live in Ohio and the default value for me was L.A. Just find a location where you are positive of where you are at and the direction and modify it again to be precise. Anything other than that and the navigation will be off. Or do you have another motivating factor?

Well I managed to get the Z1 to fit in an 04 Focus, which only has a 1 3/4 DIN slot. Still working on putting in the modifications to make it look factory, but it works rather well. Just check the measurements of the hole you have to work with as well as getting it to show through fully. There is an A/V input that your Sirius should be able to plug into if I'm understanding you correctly. Though since the Z1 can directly control Sirius and XM, I'd suggest trying to find an option that goes that route. -Litos

Well after last night finally got them to hook up the speed pulse as well as the rear signal wires. That pretty much solved the problem. There are just some places out there that don't have the experience with the unit yet. So they have no idea what they are cutting when they are trying to make other things work. No idea why they would cut an already existing connection for the life of me. But at least its over with now. -Litos

Yeah, I read on the forum before I got the unit that the unit may use the reverse wire to help out with navigation in that sense. So I had them hook it up. Now it may or may not be true. Of course I am also getting no speed pulse either, which accounts for the Vehicle Dynamics, even though I don't see that the wire is actually unhooked. Its just a whole frustrating case, especially since every time I take it back to get it fixed they don't have their Z1 person work on it. Just doesn't make sense. -Litos

It is sideways, but considering it worked flawlessly up until the recent work on the vehicle, it seems to be more of a wiring issue. But once again something I'll have to look into. -Litos

Yeah it sucks. But it was connected when I first had it in so I'd like it connected now. I keep asking for the Z1 knowledgeable people but never get them. At least the first time I got my money back because of it, hopefully its the same way this time.

No its not the button that switches between true north and always having the car point to the top of the screen. I know what that does and this is not the problem. The problem is during the last install batch my installers for some reason disconnected at least the rear signal wire. Now the Speed Pulse nor that are registering and all of the related Vehicle dynamics are not functioning. So I've been using the Z1 for a few months. Everything has been working just the way its supposed to. So I had my local installer attempt to put in a rear view camera, power inverter and game port. They managed to somehow not get everything installed how I asked and also disconnected the reverse wire which has been hooked up all this time. Now when I drive, the direction arrow of the car stays in the same direction most of the time and when it does change it is constantly off from the true direction of the car.
