  1. So, I got my Z110BT a couple of years ago and got a messed up system install by an unscrupolous audio installer. I drove around with a jacked up audio system and I was finally able to get it installed properly. The original installer claimed that he had done the by pass but it wasn't working properly and I wasn't going to drive an hour and a half to have it fixed anytime soon. Anywho, this new audio installation comapany I went to had to gut my system and start from scratch. However when they went to do the bypass, it wouldn't work. I directed them to your website and they followed your instructions to the letter as well viewed a few youtube videos tomake sure they got it right. Well it wouldn't work. They told me that the head unit itself had probably been damaged by the last guy. They told me that that the connector on the head units harness probably got damaged because they saw what looked like some filng.

They want me to bring it by so they can have another go at it at no charge. What I'd like to know is if the first installer could have really damaged something which could make doing the bypass almost impossible

  2. I really want this upgrade strictly for the updated map. I haven't had any problems with the nav for my 110, but lately it's been leading me to vacant lots, dead ends and locations that are at least a mile away from my destination. I tried to take a friend to the range rover dealer last weekend and were close, but still about a mile or 2 away. He then proceeded to whip out his droid and embarass me lol.

What I want to know is how does his smatphone gps show up my 110? I have msn direct, so shouldn't I always be able to update my maps with ease? Tom Tom barely charges you $60 for the year to upgrade your maps and garmin charges you $119. They really should have had a seperate strictly maps upgrade that I'm sure would cost way less. "I" simply don't need all that other stuff.

  3. Thanks for the fast reply, I just let the buyer know that they won't have any problems with the anti theft feature. Is there a code actually printed on any of the paperwork in the box? I just looked through all of my Z110BT stuff and I don't see anything. I figured out of all places, it would be on that yellow piece of paper.

  4. As most of you may or may not know, I just recently upgraded to the Z110BT and I put my D3 up for sale on ebay. I was just asked this question by a potential buyer.

Do you have a security code that came with this radio? Other auctions mentioned that thnx

I was unaware that the D3 had this feature until now and I never set it when it was first installed. I could only assume that whoever buys the D3 from me won't run into any problems. When I switched out the deck, I had forgot to take the DVD Nav disc out. So I brought the D3 into work so I could hook it up to a power-station so I could eject the disc. I no longer have the original box or any other paperwork for the D3, just the installation and operators manual. I also have no proof to show that I purchased it. Do I need to pull my auction from ebay because of this? Could someone please reply to this question ASAP as my auction has 6 hours left as of this posting. Thanks in advance all.

  5. I bought my D3 November 2007 and I just upgraded to the Z110BT. It has some some minor scratches on the outer chassis plastic from installation. Other than that, it's in great condition. Like an idiot, I forgot to take out one of the Nav Disc (west) before it got installed, so it's still inside. The installer used the wiring from the D3 to install the Z110, so I was going to sell it with all the new wiring harness etc. I still have all the instructions and I was going to add the ipod cable, but I forgot it at the shop which is 30 min away. I don't think I'm going to make that drive for a $20 cable. The screen itself is perfect and like I said before, it's in great condition. Do you all think that I would be able to get about $500+ for it on ebay?

  6. I got mine from 6th avenue electronics when they had their name-your-own-price sale for $1150, but now its been out of stock for a MONTH and i'm still waiting! I believe I ordered it on July 28th or something like that. Getting impatient, but def a good price.

Thanks for the heads up. I orderd mine September 7 and it's costing me $1148. I think that's well worth the price. I just put in $1100 to see what would happen and that's the counter offer they gave me. I'm guessing that's as low as they'll go. I got that, the MSN direct wire and the ipod wire and everything came out to $1267. It's supposed to get here tomorrow. I can't hardly wait. :D

  7. I'm still rocking the D3 and I think it's time I upgrade. This JVC does look pretty nice. It seems to have everything, is cheaper and has a sweet remote. I like touchscreen as much as the next man because hey, it's touchscren. Yet I can't be bothered with that while I'm driving around. I find it troublesome that I have to reach out and turn the knob with the D3. Now the Z110 has the little volume button. That's just going to be more difficult to deal with while driving. I haven't had a remote in years and I gave up steering wheel controls for the D3 so I really miss that convience.

  8. Could you imagine if all the hollographic designs really jumped out at you? Cool, hellz yeah. Safety hazard, definitely. Man I really want this thing. I doubt if anyone will buy a 7 month old D3. Only time will tell.

*sighs* what am I supposed to do with the D3 now...?

  9. Yeah, I've been randomly trying out my nav here in this area and this thing gives me the worse directions. I also think that some of my POI are wrong. I can't figure out why that would be considering my disc is for 2007. I set it to take me to the local subway that I know is only about 5 miles away. For some reason, it won't show me the address of the 2 that it has available. Well one is in another town and I know I'm not going that far. The other is located in a vacant lot. I was like, ok, I don't have anything to do today, so I'll humor myself by following this thing. Sure enough, it took me to a junkyard/industrial area and told me that the subway was on my right.

I also set it to take me to an IHOP which isn't to far from my house. The directions were pretty accurate for the most part. Up until it told me that my destination was on the right side of the street when IHOP is clearly located on the left side. I was planning on using this thing for a trip to a friends house, but I'm pretty weary of it now. I'll give it a few more chances and to see what happens. I guess I better stick with good old stalker quest... er I mean map quest.

  10. Allright, it's update time. Everything is connected and working fine for the most part. But, how do I know if the pink (VSS) wire was connected correctly? Is there some kind of test or something that I could run to make sure? This way if it's not, I could go back and have him fix it.

The day/nightime thing is working correctly... I think. In the picture, it looks darker, but minds doesn't look as dar for some reason. I can tell that it's not the daytime display though. The lights on my car come on automatically depending on the time of the day and cut off just the same. Could that have something to do with it? When I gave him the instructions on what to do, he said "Oh, I know what that is. It's the illumination wire. I never hook that up". I've heard people say that to many times on this board. We should all band together so that the illumination wire will not be forgotten.

As for the VSS wire, he ended up going under the steering will dash and connecting it to a blue wire. He told me that it was connected to the transmission or something like that. Can remeber exactly what it was he said though. I really should have been paying more attention. But he and I couldn't find any brown wires like the instructions said. Any advice on whats going on here?

  11. Thanks for the info HawgPhixer. I have the original book as well as everything else for all the accesories still in my car. I'll have to take a look at that later and show it to the installer.

On another note, I made it their last night like 30 min before closing, but the guy had an emergency he had to go and take care of. So I'll be trying to get this sorted out again today. I'm looking forward to using my Nav this weekend. I got a small trip down to LA and I want to see how accurate it is. Like anything else, you read about all kind of complaints about a particular item and nav accuracy was one of them. I hope it's not to bad as I can get lost much better by myself and have in the past.

  12. Ok, didn't make it to the car stereo shop in time after I got off from work. So I'll have to try again tonight. In the installers defense, there is nothing in the instructions that tells you what to do with the pink and purple wires. I looked over the instrcutions a few times and there really isn't anything about them in it. So that's probably why he didn't use them. Should he have automatically known what they were for?
