I know that there’s an system menu icon you select that would take you to that screen.

The "mode" button on the IR remote flips between the 2, so now the question is "why" is this happening to me .... Question:  do most people hit the first nag screen or do they let it time out?

I’d be interested in what carrier everyone is using, what model iPhone folks are using, and what iOS version it is running. Also, include which of these problems you are experiencing.

I was thinking we should probably start a new thread about discussing the Siri Mono / Audio disconnect problems, (since we have hijacked this "impressions" article).

My info:  iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 14 beta 2, Canada-Rogers

Given the information you provided with your experience with the ilx-107 and intel chips, maybe just maybe this all points to the WiFi chip(hardware)/coded wireless protocol(software) that Pioneer implemented in the x600 series as being the culprit. If I were a betting man, I’ll place my money on it being a software issue where Pioneer need to tighten up their code to interact more seamless with IOS. Reason why I ruled out it being hardware related is because from my recent testing with wireless AA, the connection is solid without fail. What user’s experienced with the ilx-107 could’ve been software related as well, but since Alpine never released not 1 single firmware for that unit and was soon thereafter discontinued there’s no way to determine whether it was on their end or if it was related to a phone’s chip set.

I'm not sure I would say it was Alpine (or Pioneer's) implementation that was at fault since using different iPhones (or Androids) allowed it to work, it makes me think it's more a case of Intel doing something incorrectly and Apple just uses their firmware/chipset drivers.  What gets even weirder is my actual experience with the ILX; before figuring out that "turning off LTE" would work, I actually tried switching cellphone providers ... my thought at the time was as the car was moving it was re-triangulating with cell-towers and doing something that caused intel to drop wifi for a moment.  Maybe some incorrect implementation of cellular protocol, or maybe only with certain tower-set, or maybe frequency range, of the carrier.  I was on Bell, and switched to Rogers, and completely fixed it for me.   A different user was on Rogers, but in a different province and having drops (so it wasn't the cell provider exactly either).   Once we showed it seemed "cellular" related another user turned off cellular completely (since it was all local storage music), which worked for him, after that it became a case of trying different cellular settings, until LTE was tried.  That is why I'm suggesting it first.  A quicker test would be turn off cellular but since so many people use things like Spotify I was trying to keep it easier.  I will try to find the original reddit article on it (but the above is what we found in a nutshell)

    found it (it's long) ...

  4. I have turned "Hey Siri" back on to see if issues come back, and I added to 'AdGuard Pro' to not use VPN rules when connected to the wifi that CarPlay is using.  To this end though, this reminds me of a similar problem I had in the early days of using the Alpine ILX-107, a couple of users had it, and it seemed to be related to the iPhones that were using Intel modems (used for both cellular and wifi), now-a-days all the new iPhones use Intel (2020 is supposed to be QualComm again) ... anyways, we found out that if we turned off LTE for the drive, we had no audio drops, (so just using 3G or lower)

Some of the similarities are: when you brought the phone closer to the unit it would not fail.  Using products that didn't have Intel modems worked (older iPhones, and in Thorissr case Samsung is using QualComm).  Since  I have a hard time getting the problem to happen, anyone will consistent failures, can you turn turning off LTE during one of your drives and see if you get audio drops?

  5. So today is my 5th day with the HeySiri off (and today I drove to get lunch so technically I have driven 45-1hour 12 times) and on the 12th time (the drive home) it had 3 audio drops.  Now after crying uncontrollably,  I started to think “what changed”.  I just installed AdGuard Pro (which is a VPN adblocker) so it might be that, (and hence more evidence to “extreme wifi latency intolerance”).  This is more just FYI while we wait for a miracle....

@IvanRaide I saw in your video on your thread about the volume knob mod that you are using the iOS 14 beta.

How is your Siri and phone call sound quality with the beta?

I’m still pinning this problem on Pioneer, as other cars don’t have this problem. I just hope it is fixable with software, and not due to them cheaping out on Bluetooth hardware.

No, iOS14 didn't help that, Siri still sounds wrong, (like bluetooth mono).  I suspect it's not going to get fixed, they probably implemented phone and "voice dial" via HSP and HFP and not AVRCP/A2DP and I highly doubt they are going to go back and redo it, (I'm sure they are already onto new hardware and cant wait for you to buy that NEW hardware instead of this months old junk).  But, lets hope ....

I see you have "hey siri" on.  You have mentioned distance as well.  I have my phone always in my right pocket so about 2 feet diagonal to the center of the head unit, today is the 4th day of no drops for myself though.  One thing if you could try ..... say "HHHHHEEEEEEYYYYYYYY" (pretty loudly) and tell me if you get a few audio drops after that?

  7. Searching this forum for "iphone firmware 3.0" will find you lots of articles about it NOT working on the Avic-F series!! My question is, has anyone determined if the same is happening with our D3's ????

I was kinda hoping that the bluetooth streaming for the D3 would start to work with this firmware, but given what is happening on the F series, I'm a little scared in general!! Here is an example of it (somewhat) working for a person (not an Avic) but it initially made me hopeful

Also, what about Phone Contact Push/Pull, (is this working??)

  8. This will not be terribly helpful, but I also get Error-11 when my iPhone has become unresponsive, so I think the tech that told you it means it can't communicate to the 3G is right.

In my case its an app/script I am running that eventually causes the GUI to have no free memory and locks up the whole phone (and the next day I get error-11 when I start my car), but a reboot works for me. The phone I am using in this case, is a 2g on firmware 1.1.4 so pretty different circumstances.

  9. Actually it is the same old question

(that link and 2 down from it)

I had this idea some time ago, and have links on both ModMyiPhone and Hackint0sh about it, but unfortunately no one seems to know, or care enough.

I was also into WM devices and found some interesting stuff, but NOTHING directly about remapping the bluetooth MAC.

If you find something, (for either device), I am fairly certain it will work.

  10. Just did my upgrade on my D3, thanks jlong1987.

To kruff10, I was able to do a PIO search, (which I know doesn't help you, but its info anyways...)

To everyone, I remember reading about people who had used the previous WEST disk torrent and saying that after a week or so their units said "inappropriate disk", (or something like that) .... does anyone know why this happened, (and will it happen to us?)

Does anyone know if this West was different then the torrent West disc that was floating around about 1 month ago?

    Thanks again.

  11. Thanks kryngle. It has been a little disheartening with so many people saying "I got mine!" that no one has offered to share the info.

This place is about sharing info, weather a bypass, or a Z3 image, or a DVD torrent...

Anxiously waiting for your "I got mine!" ...

  12. You do realize the updates are already out???? :?:

Only if you buy an AVIC-N5 unit. They aren't being sold separately yet.

Maybe you can't "buy" them, but they are "available".

The West disc is out, which we know about, but not the eastern disc, unless you, jaedee have/know of one. If you do, please tell us, we are all anxiously waiting for it?

  13. I asked this question back on page 10 to infinkc specifically, but never did get a reply... oh well, you can't really look a gift horse in the mouth .... I guess we will eventually get the Eastern disc.

There was also comments (from romney) that this does have a firmware update and that it seems to have some performance gains, (though that could be from the map data as well...)

Once, the firmware update is complete, the disc will function like a normal NAV disc. One thing I have noticed is that the map is faster and locating POI's is faster too.

So for everyone saying its only map data, it might be more then that, (though I agree its probably not anything to revolutionary). For the people on the West coast and having done the upgrade, would you say it was consistently better, (now that the novelty of something new is over?)

  14. So I decided to try it, and it seems to work!

Using pin 11 on the diagnostic port is about 1.2 million times easier then the ECU pin 66, so for anyone with a VR4/Stealth <= 93, you can hookup the VSS to pin 11.

Right now after 10Km, it shows 27,000ish Speed Pulses and the learning has changed to "3D Hybrid". This is the end result right (for when a VSS is hooked up?)?

  15. Thanks romney good to know, and man was that close, cause I almost did it earlier.

To infinkc, I know you don't have the Eastern disc, but more out of curiosity, shouldn't have your N5 come with both discs, (I thought both discs were always a package deal?)

To those that have updated and have an iPhone, in the incredibly unlikely case, can anyone confirm if maybe Pioneer added PULL contacts support, (cause if they did I'm packing up the house and moving to the west coast :-P )

  16. I'm an EASTERN person so I wasn't planning on using this disc per-say, but now with the possibility of a firmware update; I guess I have a question. If you use this and it updates your firmware, can you stick your M70 Eastern disc in? Will it work, etc.

Don't want to risk it in case the 80-Eastern disc doesn't materialize for a while...
