  1. I have a Pioneer 4000-NEX and an iPhone 5s with iOS 9.2 installed. I use Apple CarPlay most of the time but since I upgraded to iOS 9, I see that Waze works again. So, my question is about navigation AND music. Can I use Waze and play music from my iPod? I cannot figure out how to do this and could not figure how to search for an answer. Thanks.
  2. I am going to mount these two modules in a cubby in my dash that will allow me to have access to all of the ports without having to remove the radio. Found them on Ebay and will update the group after install.
  3. I yanked the unit back out and disconnected the hdmi adapter and ran the lighting directly from USB1. Car Play works. So it seems that I can have AppRadio OR Car Play and not both. I plan to route all of the ports (HDMI, USB1, USB2 & AUX) out to the dash so I can hook up whatever config I want without removing the head unit.
  4. Good stuff. Hopefully they apologized for their screw up.
  5. I just pulled mine out (bezel off and 4 small screws then is slides out) and disconnected the HDMI Lightning and ran lightning directly from USB1. I confirm that Car Play now works on my unit. Give it a try, it is easy.
  6. that is what I am doing. I am getting a mountable USB extender (and HDMI) so I can mount it in my dash.
  7. While I have not gotten it to work in my 4000NEX, that is my understanding. The lightning cable must be in USB1 for Car Play to work. John
  8. So essentially you cannot switch between AppRadio and Car Play without removing the head unit?
  9. Hi All, I have another thread on my issues with AppRadio and Car Play. I have done a lot more research and have a simple (hopefully) question. Here is how my iPhone 5S is connected to my Pioneer Head Unit Should Car Play work with this connection method? Thanks, John
  10. Update - I talked to Pioneer and the guy told me that I needed to change the settings in order to use either Car Play or AppRadio. I changed the settings and got AppRadio to sort of work but still cannot get Car Play to work. When I change the Phone setting to "av adapter" I am able to access my AppRadio compatible apps (Waze shows up but displays a message that it is not supported). I tried Maps and it works. The thing is when I am in AppRadio mode, I can no longer use the Bluetooth connection to play music. How do I play my iPhone play lists when in AppRadio mode? Pioneer told me
  11. The firmware update is for version 1.08 and the instructions say to check to see what version is loaded before you update. The version from the factory was 1.08 so I did not do the firmware update. Can you use the HDMI/lightning to lightning adapter like below? Lightning still goes from USB1 through this and into the iPhone 5S. I still get power, I just don't get access to Car Play or App Radio.
  12. I purchased a new 4000NEX and installed it today. The head unit works great via Bluetooth, but I cannot seem to get the iPhone to work in App Radio or in Car Play. I followed the instructions and attached an HDMI to an Apple HDMI/lightning to lightning module. I plugged an iPhone lightning cable into USB1 and into the HDMI/lightning to lightning module. I attached a pic of what I get when I go to USB1 as a source and another pic of what the home screen shows (no iPod attached) Any ideas? Thanks, John
