  1. I've got a 2012 Nissan NV and did my own installation. (van)

You will probably have to use the GPS sensor supplied with the unit.

    The workaround posted

    http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/38589-official-avic-nex-bypass-avic-units-only/

works I never attached the parking brake wire.

Plays movies off DVD or SD card while driving.

You can turn off the video instantly by pressing the mode button.

    The plug adapter I found

Had no wire on the plug for the purplelish pink wire (Speed sensor)

Speaker wires were all standard. ( had to wire on my new speakers and bass box )

I had to buy an adapter for the antenna from Nissan to normal antennae plug.

Metra kit 99-7614 I needed for side rail attaching to Nissan. The faceplate was worthless .. just went without it.

It wouldn't let the unit open and doesn't snap onto anything so it would fall off.

I would assume any camera will work the av plugins are standard and the settings can be left on auto or choose between six or seven video formats .. plus you can reverse the video if it's backwards to you. There is also a secondary camera input.

I wired my own addon backup camera powered by the backup light - that power wire I ran to the unit to tell it I was backing. You can set it up as powered or ground signal in the unit software.

Not sure about your phone. My Iphone works ok I'm not perfectly happy with the interface but it has many features.

Galaxy 5 is mentioned in this post

    manual is here

The processor in this unit seems a little slower than my old Kenwood KW-NT800HTD (JVC) but I like the NAV better and I swear the sound is better. I couldn't watch video in motion with the JVC but i never tried wiring in a workaround.

  2. I get emails all day long and need an easy way to cut them from my Iphone into the Avic 8100NEX navigation.

My Kenwood NT8700HTD had a map app that let me send it to the NAVI but so far I've found nothing yet that seems to enable that feature when I start New Route.
