People, and not just you, need to read the whole thread before demanding help.

 

Also, putting this modded firmware on your F/X series is not a life or death issue. If someone has a question that isn't covered here, I'm sure everyone would gladly help them, but to so blatantly have NOT read the thread and just hop in there screaming that it won't work and please help does no one any good.

 

As a note to all future demanders of help. If you're going to do something that could potentially brick your mildly expensive piece of electronic car entertainment equipment, would it not help you to read the whole damn thread dealing with said something?

Does it make you feel that much better to be such a pampas a$$? I mean really? I read all 18 pages and just beacuse I need a lil help doesnt mean I or others asking the same questions deserve to be treated so rudely. FYI i did not "demand" for help I asked like a respectable person. Plus i have done numorous updates from the 2.0 update to the 3.0, to branded POI, to speed cams, and change the arrow size in the program scipt all without bricking my unit.

After all this board is for help and sharing of knowledge, even to those who are slightly less skilled with computers.

Sorry for the dumb inquiry but how do i un-rar the torrent file? I have downloaded winRAR, winZIP, 7-Zip and not one can i get it to extract. ANy suggestions as far as what to try or what free programs can accomplish this task?

 

If the two of you can't figure out how to download a file via torrent, when it's outlined in this thread at least twice, don't even attempt to mod your head unit.

I have done the 3.0 and numerous other updates and mods but none with .rar files. Ive tried numerous programs winRar(trial), rar frog, 7-zip and had no luck locating the numerous files in the rar file. I just need a lil guidance on what to use and what to look for.

How do you extract this rar file? Ive tried winRAR, Rar Frog, 7 ZIP. and no luck. Please help!!

Do i need to put the testmode and winCE files on the SD as well? Also i downloaded all 16 files but they're in a ".rar" format. Is this correct or do i need to unzip these somehow?

Has anyone updated from the X- series version of 3.0 ( the method we all used in July ) to the official F-Series? I've been using the X-3.0 on my F90BT since July, but it locks up quite frequently. Got the F-series SD cards a month ago, Wondering if the official F-Series update is more polished, and also if it will go over the other 3.0 or should I downgrade first

You will probably also have to go and dig out the bmp's that are listed and put them into your data.zip in the same location as well. You are going to also have to toy around with the position.

Im working on the original mod but editing the numbers in the schemes that way you can see the street names in 3D(3.01FW update).

I have done it. Works for me. Still not perfect but much better than the original 3.0 where the street names didnt show up at all. You have to edit each scheme one by one. They are all different so you can only change the certain section.

Once you get to the blue screen then press the toggle Up, Up, Down, Menu, Left, Right. This will clear your hard drive and update the wndows operating system. Then continue with the above steps.

Step 3: Copy the 2 WinCEIMG files to an empty SD card.

 

Step 4: Turn unit on. When the pioneer logo comes up, press and hold the menu, map, eject and the reset button at the same time. When you hear a pop sound from your speakers, let go of the eject button but continue to hold menu and map buttons. This will bring you to a blue screen where you will have to enter the service combination. Press the volume knob in this sequence and you will see * signs for each push: Up, Up, Down, Menu, Left, Right.

 

Step 4: Put in your SD card with the WinCEIMG files.

 

Step 5: Select Update CE

 

Step 6: Select Update SD Format

 

Step 7: Wait till it says restart in the bottom center.

 

Step 8: Remove your SD from the AVIC, put it in your computer.

 

Step 9: Delete all of the files off the SD card and put the testmode folder, DATA file, and the flash dump from torrent on.

 

Step 10: Insert the SD card into the AVIC and hit the reset button.

 

Step 11: Once testmode boots, open explorer and copy the contents of the flash dump to the "My Flash Disk" Drive.

(Should take about 20min even though at first it says like 140min)

Step 12: Copy the Data file from the SD card and replace the one in "My Flash Disk\APL2\iGo" (Soft Bypass)

 

Step 13: Press and hold restart and eject for 5 seconds.

 

Step 14: Enjoy your new 3.0

Just copy the X910 zip and use those contents(for step 11 aka flash dump)

Yes. The A/V part of the AVIC, which the Image.res covers, has not changed much from 2.0 to 3.0. The only thing that will need to be fixed would be the box that comes up on the Nav screen when a phone call is in progress.

I don't have mine perfected yet so I won't post it but if you want to try editing it the color3d.ini is in My Flash Disk -> APL2 -> iGO -> Content -> Schemes then whichever scheme file you are using. Make sure to remember to edit both your day and night scheme.

Thanks a bunch that was a lot of help. I looked in that wile but evidentially not deep enough. I just went My Flash Drive-APL2-iGO-content and thats it. Thanks for the info. I will wait till someone perfects it and try their file. I'm going on a trip this weekend and don't want to fuss around with it potentially making it un-usable for the trip.

Is there a setting in the 2.0 software we could transfer into the 3.01 software which would allow us to see the street names again. I prefer leaving my system zoomed out so I can see upcoming streets but I also want to know the name of that street too.

The 3.01 does not install according to the pioneer instructions.

I placed the LPU folder on the sd card, inserted into stereo, powered up stereo but it justs boots up normal no - automatic update! should I start up the testmode and copy and paste? any tips?

maybe i need to take the files out of the LPU folder and place them on the sd card?

I have had this problem 6 times. I have done mods and updates several time before seeing how i had one of the first f-series units. I did the 3.0 update4 times then tried to update with the pioneers 3.01 and no such luck.

Does anyone know which numbers to change to make street labels show further in the distance?

I have changed them and have not seen any change yet.

I recently have updated my F700BT to 3.0 found here: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25751 I successfully upgraded and my unit has no problems such as shutting down but i was trying to update to pioneer's 3.01 free update. I tried 6 times uploading the LPUE080 and then following the steps on pioneer but for some reason it seems like it doesn't recognize the file when i put the SD(with LPUE080) and starting the unit up. It just goes through the actual start-up process and my unit load like normal. I cant get it to automatically register the new LPUE080 to save my life. Any ideas? Or does anyone with this full update already done have a copy of their My Flash Disk that i can use?

Did some researching in went in to Settings/Navi Settings/Smart Zoom edit(wrench looking button)

-Set the Zoom-Out level to 400ft or below. You can get them with 500ft but sometimes they dont show up till you're right on top of them..
