  1. I figured it out. You have to download Pioneer's "AVIC Feeds" program. I thought that was only for smart phones but it turns out that it's also for the home computer. Downloaded it and I can now see "gasmileage.DAT" but I'm a bit disappointed that it only saved the last entry. It didn't log each individual fill up but overwrote each previous entry every time.

  2. I have the X930BT in my car. It has the option of calculating/logging gas mileage. You enter how much gas costs, volume filled and kilometers driven and it then gives you L/100 kms. Fairly straight forward calculation and that's not the issue. On the gas mileage screen there is an "export to SD" button to save it on the card. I did that for a few months and now that my car is in storage for the winter I tried to upload them to my computer. On the card is a .DAT file. My computer (Windows 7) and my girlfriend's computer (some sort of newer MAC) don't know what to do with the file. I Googled a little bit and dabbled with the renaming of the file like Google said but it only came up with gibberish. I downloaded a program to open it and again it only came up gibberish.

Does anyone know how to make use of the .DAT file? I was expecting some sort of Excel spreadsheet.

  3. I tried Googling this and it's surprising how little information there is on my issue.

I'm looking for a double DIN navigation system (any make really but I prefer Pioneer) that can output the navigation source to a "rear" monitor but still have A/V screens up front. The set-up I'm going to have in my car is like the first one pictured below. The "rear" monitor is the one in the Honda display pod and the actual source unit is below the climate controls. My ideal goal would be to have navigation in the top screen and have my XM screen on the main unit. That is all I want. It doesn't matter if the unit has DVD or other capabilities. I do not care about watching DVDs, iPod videos or anything like that. Also don't want a carPC. From my searching most source units only have RCA output but if it helps my monitor has VGA input as well. I would settle for having navigation on the source unit and XM on the top screen.

Is there any way I can do this with a modern double DIN navigation system?

  4. Last night someone stole the full stereo out of my dad's 2004 F-350 Diesel. Happened after 2 am in his "secure" underground parking lot in the North side of Edmonton (Oxford). They were very professional in the job as they didn't break any plastic clips or cut any harnesses. I'll post some pictures up a little later but in the mean time, if someone notices a Pioneer AVIC-D1 for sale which has no box and a handwritten 2007 navigation disc it's ours.

  5. Don't know how much the N1 is worth. Mine crapped out so Best Buy exchanged it for me. If you want better navigation then don't bother with the D3. I had the N1 with the N3 map disks. The mapping on the D3 is minimally better. Now if you're talking about interfaces (sat radio, I-Pod) then yes, the D3 is infinitely better. I have both XM and Sirius on the D3 and love it. The interface is actually acceptable now. Can't say much about I-Pods since I don't like those things but I have heard good things about the interface.

  6. Yes, the antenna is identical. I just replaced my N1 for the D3. The reverse, speed sense and gps all plugged right in. You will have to wire your D3 harness to your car and as said above, no brain (but still same function as the N1) to wire in.

  7. ^^They are NOT exactly the same. On the N3 you have a one line display. On the Z2 you have the artist and song name as well as the station logo's. And you also have the memo button up to 12 songs I think it is. I'm going by my D3 interface which I was told was similar to the Z series. You'll find it's a HUGE upgrade over any N series unit.
