Don't know if your problem is the same as mine so my resolution of the problem may be different to yours. In my case, I came to the conclusion that my hdd was a write off. I sent a pm to Garret Toomey so that I could discuss (via email) my situation and if push came to shove, did he still sell pre loaded new hdd's with all the necessary firmware upgrades etc to upgrade my Z1 to a Z3 - I haven't had any reply from him (along with others who have posted regarding similar help/information).
