  1. Hey I was checking today and measuring the sizes the z1 is about 7in wide my factory radio is almost 7 1/2 that would leave a quater of a inch on each side. The factory radio has the bracket on each side where it goes on the rail do you think I'd be able to take of the bracket and screw it on the side of the z1 and be able to fit in, you've done there cars before right, and know about the rails and the brakcet on the factory radio on the volvo 70 series, any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

  3. I'd appreciate your help, but my factory radio doesnt have a cage where the radio goes on it has side rails where the radio slides into and locks into place. Just wondering if they have a cage which is similar to the rails on the factory radio?
  4. I was curious whats the longest anyone here has left there avic on straight? I once had my factory radio in my nissan on for 5 hrs straight and it overheated, wonder if the avic is like that if it has fans or does it come on alot? Dont want it to fry on long trips, any insight on this?
  5. Thats what I was saying the d1 and z1 are the same size, I hope it works I'm really siked about getting this avic z1. Do they sell aftermarktet cages for european cars like my double din volvo? I heard on volvospeed kenwood makes a cage, do you guys know anything about.

How does the voice rec work do you have to press a button on the z1 itself or do they give you a button on the steering, I know they sell steering controls seperate, and I know the mic is included on the z1 but how does it work, do you have to repeat often cause it doesn't understand ?? Just curious before I get mine today or tomorrow

I went to volvo speed and the guy who has installed pioneer double din units into 70 models says its going to be hard, do you guys have any ideas on what things I could get to help with my install ? Would appreciate any help.   9. Oh okay I understand most of it, so when I'm going to install the avic z1 dont ground the brake wire and dont connect it just leaving it hanging and taped up. My volvo is automatic and I never use the handbrake maybe once in a blue moon if I'm on a steep hill but I guess I'd turn the radio off than pull up the brake, so just leave that wire hanging taped up. Now if I were to buy that headlight flashing devise u have I wouldn't have to flash my lights everytime I would start my car, it would be restricted all the time? This might be a stupid question but I'm a little confussed I know what grounding out the brake wire did for the older pioneer dvd unit. but I just bought a avic z1 and wanted to know ( my dumb question lol) Why ground the brake wire ? What are the advantages ? Its been said by flashing the parking light during loading will release all the avic z1 feature during driving so why ground the brake wire ? I've also read people who have grounded the brake wire will see a error install on the screen. What's the best option to have if you want all the features dvd while in motion, bluetooth navigation
  11. I believe the inside depth of the radio is 7-8 inches and a little more slack for the wiring so possibly 9. The things I'm worried about for the install is the width and the rails on the side for it slide in I dont know if the avic z1 has that.

Hey guys I have a pic of my radio, I went to chinatown yesterday to see the avic z1 and if I could get it cheap those guys were trying to play games with me with the pricing so I left, I did get to see the unit and I measure how tall the avic z1 is and was exactly 4 inches and I measured my facotry radio and its 4 3/4 inches the width I didn't measure o the avic z1 cause I was busy talking with the guy. Am still thinking if it'll work maybe a little smaller and have a gap around it, what do you guys think? sorry the pic isn't as good as I wanted it to come out.

I just emailed the guy from cructchfield and he says that I wouldnt be able to install the avic z1 without modifiying my dash, he says they have to avic 1 is the 3 inch and the other is 4 inch for most japanese double din, but since my car is not japanese and is double din about 4 3/4 inches tall, how come it wouldnt fit the whole might be a little bigger than the unit size, but than comes the clips on the side maybe that has to do with it. I was really looking forward to getting this unit, how much modifcation would you guys think would be needed to make it happen ? I'll send some pics of my
  14. Hey thanks for the info edrock and ducatiboy, I do belive that when I turn on the parking light it kinda dims, I know when the hid comes it def dims so I'll gues it will work. I also had a another question I just realized today that my factory radio has 2 pins that pulls the radio out instead of taking apart the dash ? I don't think it has a cage like other double dins, so would this be a problem for the install of a avic Z1 if I get one and one if someone decides to break into my car 1 day to easly steal it lol I'm also relieved they sell wiring kits for my car so I dont have to cut the

I have a 2000 volvo v70xc cross country double din I measured the opening and its 4 and 3/4 inch tall, would the avic z1 fit in my car, and would I have to cut my factory wires for the install ? Second I read the smart idea on how to bypass the dvd by flashing the headlight, but I have aftermarket hid headlights and they say frequant flashing of the lights will damage the the ballast for the light. If I'm going to get the avic z1 is there any other way around this ? I read a post on this subject of flashing the parking light, but does that pulse work to bypass it. I don't want to sp
