  1. You can purchase the mic on Amazon for $22 - http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-CD-MC20-Auto-EQ-Microphone-Receivers/dp/B0038PIGDW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1459821696&sr=8-2&keywords=pioneer+mic I purchased one and use it to tune my Jeep system each time when I take the hard top off and on. I wouldnt say that its as good as tuning with proper white/pink/brown noise and sound measurement hardware, but it works well to balance your amp/drivers setup. Cheers.
  2. I did some comparisons with Bluetooth direct and Android Auto, same track played from Spotify. I definitely confirm your observation, there is a distinct difference in audio quality between the two and with AA active the audio sounds flat. Ostensibly this would indicate that AA is affecting sound quality by altering the audio processing. I wont speculate how at this point, but this bears further investigation.
  3. What app are you using for playback? Streaming or local files? At what bit rate? Generally, you are best to keep third party audio processors out of the path when it comes to using an android or IOS device as the source. These apps typically only use psychoacoustic methods to alter the sound, and introduce noise and jitter as a result. Try removing viper and see what results you get. See also: http://geeknizer.com/complete-guide-to-android-smartphone-audiophile/ I stream at the highest bit rate possible from my subscription services, and I play .flac lossless files from the SD ca
  4. I updated my 8100 without issue. Some answers to your questions: 1.AFAIK, avicsync is still not working...at least not for android 6.0.1. My app won't display the maps, and I also don't see much value to the app itself, apart from being able to program multi-stop routes from my phone. Even then, this functionality overlaps with other mapping apps, so the net-net isn't much, IMO. 2. My settings all carried over after the update. 3. I didn't have to reinstall any map files, but I haven't updated anything either, so can't comment. 4. I didn't update any Bluetooth components,
  5. Some points to consider: 1. If your amplifier has crossovers for high and low pass frequencies, you'll want to disable those or set them to allow as much range as possible. The 8100 has built-in active frequency controls and does not require amp crossovers. Leaving amp crossovers on will reduce the amp output if the head unit is also filtering.(Crossovers for component tweeters don't count here, leave those alone!) 2. Understand how the 8100 crossover works, and the specifications of your speakers. For subs, frequency range and enclosure specs will factor here. Sealed or ported?
