i definitely dont want to do a restore.  my last hope right now is to do a full reset of the unit and re-do the blue tooth.  

if that doesn't work then i will remove the bypass and see if that does anything.

i do have tag forwarding set to usb1.

whenever appradio opens on my phone it just take me to the screen with the arrows drawn between the phone and head unit, it ask to ignore or allow but then the screen on the head unit sits there with the black screen on white writing saying the app is starting, and the only button i can hit is ignore.

is anyone with a bypass able to use the auto eq feature? mine is greyed out, and i think the only way i will be able to use it is if i remove the bypass and hardwire the parking brake

Before you restore your phone try using different iPhone 5 app radio is free anyone can download it then take it off their phone

I hear that the ones who did the 6.0 jailbreak are not going to waste time jail breaking iOS 6.1.3. They are waiting for ios7

Only restore phone as last thing. Might be awhile till we get a jailbreak again

Your phone is not in safe mode is it, any tweaks from cydia that would keep a app from opening?

i really dont want to restore as you are correct in that there wont be another jailbreak till ios 7

ok bluetooth reset did not work.

this is what i get when i open the radio control app after the unit asks for permission to communicate with the phone and i hit allow

at this point it seems like one of three things are incorrect;

1. my iphone 5 is the issue and i need to restore it (i would be forced to update to ios 6.1.3 which i wouldn't be able to jailbreak) 

2. the bypass i am using is causing and issue ( im using http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007QE03IM/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )

3. my unit is defective (seems very unlikely that everything works perfectly except appmode)

tomorrow i am going to try removing the bypass and hardwiring the parking brake and seeing if that fixes the issue.  if not then it looks like my phone or the unit are the issue.

i have tried almost everything, it took me a while to figure out how to set it to digital AV (i didn't hit source to off)  

at that point i thought i had it figured out until the actual appmode didn't work.

i havent tried completely deleting the blue tooth profile on both the head unit and the phone, so i will try that next.

I'm running 8.19. iPhone is at 6.1.3.

 

I turned back on apps. When I did this I got the same condition as the OP. I then disconnected the iPhone, closed and reopened the app on the iPhone, plugged it back in and then it worked correctly.

 

T switch between others and iphone(digital AV). You have to turn off Bluetooth on the phone disconnect the iPhone and then you can go into settings and change it. It states that right on the screen.

yes it is correctly switched over to iphone (digital AV), i spoke to 2 techs at pioneer yesterday and both said the unit shipped with the correct firmware, today i spoke to another representative and he is telling me that it wont work until and update in the end of april (the guy was an idiot)

my phone is jailbroken on 6.1.2

unfortunately i dont have access to an unjailbroken iphone 5 right now to test it it is my phone.

are you using any type of bypass or properly hardwired to the hand brake

can anyone with this unit confirm what software they are running?

The biggest problem I'm having with this radio and my iphone5 is it recognizing the iphone.  I have to plug it in then check to see if it connected.  It doesn't then I reconnect it.  I have to do this several times and then it will eventually recognize it well some times.

 

Are you sure in settings you have it set to Iphone(digital av)?  I know obvious question.

 

I have noticed that I have more luck if I have app radio app running on the iphone but minimized and on the home screen when I connect.  It will then ask to allow it switch on the iphone and I click allow.  Maybe try that.

 

What I can tell you from my experience is it's very unstable to the point of unusable in my opinion.  Just this morning I decided to unplug the lightening AV, switch to the "others" setting and plug straight usb to lightening.  This puts it back to a regular usb ipod.  Pandora and playing music from the iPhone works good.  I'm going this route until maybe they update the firmware.

 

Keep us posted and let me know if you have any tips on getting the unit to recognize the iphone.

its definitely set to digital AV because it wont even let me use the app button on the head unit until that is switched over.

at this point i may just switch back to regular usb until they update this crap

Where did you buy your Apple adapter and what did you pay for it?

i purchased it from apple through amazon for $39.99, its an authentic adapter and it plays video out on my tv flawlessly

Why cant you re-jailbreak?

apple stopped signing off on the 6.1.2 so if you restore from back up it will force you to update to 6.1.3 which cant be jailbroken

Man I dont know. The only thing I can suggest at this point is to remove the app from your phone and redownload it. If that doesn't work a full restore of your phone may fix the problem. Other then that without me being there i cant help you.

ive tried reinstalling the app's as well, i cant do a restore on my phone unfortunately as it is jailbroken and i wont be able to re-jailbreak.

i highly doubt my jailbreak has anything to do with it though

It doesn't appear to be launched in the above pic. Try launching the app from the phone.

i took the photo with my phone which was mirroring to the unit at the time. but i have launched it multiple times and it still just mirrored it

Well do you have the App Radio app installed on the phone?

yes the app is on my phone, it opens and i just see it mirrored on the head unit

yes that is the exact cable im using, i have tested the connection with the HDMI and USB and both are connected correctly.

Yesterday i installed an avh-x8500bhs and everything seems to work except for some iphone functions. if anyone has gotten the iphone 5 to work on app mode please help me out.

i am running the usb to lightning cable and an hdmi cable to the apple video cable to my iphone 5, when i click on the appradio button it launches the "appradio" app and ask for permission on my phone to do so.  at this point the radio just mirrors my iphone screen no matter what application i am using.  there is no touch screen usability on the head unit itself, and the carmediaplayer app just show a picture of a cable being plugged in when i launch it.

when you hit the app's icon does it automatically launch the appradio application?

as soon as i hit app it launches appradio and just mirrors my phone display, any other app i launch (carmediaplayer, mygps, navfree) just continue to mirror my display.

i finally got the button to work that lets me switch to digital AV.

Now i have a new issue, when i plug in my iphone 5 it launches the appradio app and then all it does is mirrors my phone. i am not seeing any appradio functionality and nothing   on the head unit touch screen does anything.

has anyone gotten an iphone 5 to work with appradio functions?

the AVH-X8500BHS does app radio out the box no update needed just set App connection to digitalsomeone should do a walk thro on how to change that setting, took me forever to get it in digital,and I'm still not sure how I did it
