  1. Pirrama,

More specutlation here, if your F840BT is wired directly to the battery instead of the ignition, it may be that you unit never gets turned off so it doesn't actually boot the sd card when you turn on the ignition.

If you find that is true, put the sd card in your unit and remove one of the battery cables for 30 seconds or so and then reconnect and see if your unit boots.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try. Should I remove the password first?

  2. RonS,

    Currently I'm on version 5.

I was aware about full formatting of SD card and 16KB cluster size allocation.

If I insert SD card into the HU when it is already running it plays some strange music file.

And for sure, I have AVIC-F840BT.

Maybe you can advise how to install a third party software on my unit? I would gladly use something like "Navigon" or "CityGuide".

Thanks a lot for trying to help me. I really appreciate it.

  3. Does your HU have the parking brake bypassed? Otherwise I believe you need the PB detection correctly wired and the PB set. The first step in the Pioneer installation instructions is to set the parking brake. Now, that may be just to cover their ass from potential damage/liability suites, but many functions won't work if the HU doesn't detect PB. I can't easily test this theory since mine is bypassed and has been from day-1.

I believe it does, I can watch movies while driving.

  4. I usually don't follow this forum (I'm Z series) but I see you're not getting any help from these people - even though you have helped several others. :(

I think there might be something wrong with how your files are arranged on the SD. Some unzip programs do not properly extract all the archived files into their original directories. Also, I recommend extracting everything to a folder on your hard drive, then moving the files to your SD.

What folders and files are in the SD root? Should only be Cardinfo.cif, and folders FIRMWARE and UPDATE. Ignore FIRMWARE for now - it's not needed for this part of  the update.

    Inside UPDATE is:

    NDATA (folder)

    USER (folder)

    ALLDATA.HTM

    ALLDATA.VER

    AUTHINFO.DAT

    VERINFO.DAT

Inside NDATA is a hundred or so files named NDATA.nnn (where nnn is a number). It will be different on your release.

Inside USER are two folders: PRG and SYSTEM. Also the file VOLUME.DAT

That's enough for now - if the above files and folders are not arranged like that, you need to extract the ZIP using a different program.

    RonS,

Okay, finally found some spare time yesterday.

To be 100 percent sure, I went to my local computer store and bought brand new 4GB SD Kingston card.

On my computer I formatted that card to FAT32 with 16KB cluster size.

Then I copied two folders (FIRMWARE, UPDATE) and CARDINFO.cif file directly to freshly formatted SD card.

Inside FIRMWARE folder I have another folder named BT. Inside BT folder – 3 files (bootloader, CK5050P.plf and updater.plf).

Inside UPDATE folder I have two folders (NDATA and USER) plus 4 files (ALLDATA.HTM, ALLDATA.VER, AUTHINFO.DAT and VERINFO.DAT).

    Inside NDATA folder – 106 files named NDATA.001 - NDATA.106

Inside USER folder I have 2 folders (PRG and SYSTEM) and 1 file named VOLUME.DAT

And guess what? Nothing! I inserted SD card with the update into SD card slot on my head unit, started the engine (just in case) and my F840BT booted up as usual. Unit sees the card for sure, then I press “eject†button it shows me that SD card is inside.

Honestly, I have no idea what to do next…

    Thanks RonS,

I will give it a try on a weekend.

  6. Yes i understand vut nothing happen if i do that..

And hear every onr talking about those folders sooo i dont know

    Same here, mate.

My unit does not recognize the update.

I did the formatting and I've tried to use different SD cards.

Stupid piece of the junk just boots up as usual. And if you press "eject" button it shows SD card, so unit sees it but not an update on the card.

Any ideas how to force F840BT to start the update procedure?

  7. Hi everybody,

    (excuse my english, i'm french)

I bought a car in Germany, a Audi S3 sline, wich is equiped with the Pioneer Avic-F960dab.

Unfortunately, the person who sold me the car doesn't know the password of the device

I read about password recuperation with the hackmode/testmode of on some forums and tried

to put a MicroSD card with the condi's HACKMODE in it.

The radio doesn't boot in the SD card nor in a USB Key

I don't wanna try something without being sur of what will happen

Could someone help me to know how to get back the password of my F960DAB ?

I don't really want to pay for it :/

    Thanks :)

    Hi Ceetro.

Search forum for "supertestmode". Then do the following:

Grab the test mode files and load it up on the SD card and head over to the head unit..

Insert SD card and load up test mode.. Go to the file manager -> User -> system -> security -> password and do a Text dump of that file...

Write down what is on the screen. That is the password you are looking for.

    That's it!

  8. Don't ever change any files on the original upgrade unless you are told to. The files to be installed are listed in a manifest file along with their CRC values. If the file has changed,   the installation will not work and leave you in an ugly state.

Thanks mate! I will modify .exe file after the update.

  9. Hi All!

    Just a quick one.

Is it possible to replace original "Navi.exe" with edited one and then run the 2015 update? Or AVIC will detect the change?

I just thought that it would be more convenient to replace exe file on SD card before the update, rather than struggle with copy/paste after the update?

    Thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Alex.
