First you would have to find out if the radio headunit opening is a Double Din size.
The Avic z3 unit requires that size slot to install in.
-
Looks like its just a map update.
I was hoping for some interface updates but by the looks of it, Pioneer gave up on it which business wise it makes sense but still, there are so many bugs that still needs to be fixed......
I'm probably going to opt out and not getting this update. Maybe wait another year.

^^ Sure, there could be some more 3D landmarks.
But as for a complete redesign of the OS. I'm not sure thats possible from a simple DVD update. CMFIW, but that would require a lot more data and even some hardware changes.
I mean if you mean a simple color change of the menus, sure, maybe, but I stopped believing in Pioneer long time ago.....
-
They'll probably release it as a DVD update with just the 2009 TeleAtlas Map update. No Firmware changes, and label it CNDV-HD900.
Even though there still some firmware changes I would like to see with the Z3......
-
The latest(most updated) gracenote database is the one thats included in Pioneer's CNDV-800HD DVD Map upgrade Disc.
So basically, if you have a Z3, thats the most updated version.
Although they are due to release a new one for this year.
Looks like they abandoned the Z3 series updates.

To be honest, thats more than I ever need. IDK, I guess other people like to keep music in their HDD for longer time than I do.
I just keep my all time favorites and delete the rest after I get sick of listening to it.

That one clean install! Nice job!
-
I noticed a slightly faster bootup time going from my Z1 ---> Z3 update via the pioneer DVD.
-
Wonder if the X models in that list are the Z-series replacements? Or just some sort of code they use?
Maybe its a bundle pack of some sort but the same navi.
-
I never bought a F-series.
There, problem solved.
Still rocking my Z3
-
I blame it on the F-series
-
^^ Thats correct, you can also change the song's genre only in album mode as well.
-
Well, since no Z4 was launched or announced at the CES 2009. We can say goodbye to a new Z series and expect nothing but map updates from Pioneer.
So with no new Z series, a decent N flip out single din.... there is really nothing pioneer has to offer anymore.
IMO, the F series is still not worthy to compete in the navi market.

Hey everyone.
I wanted to report to fellow Z3 users, after 2 years, the Bluetooth module finally went on the fritz and died.
I first noticed that the error message of "Bluetooth unit is not connected" But it kept flashing on the bottom of the screen.
I was initially concerned that my unit might be at fault, which is more costly than just replacing the bluetooth unit.
So I unplugged the bluetooth unit and checked the connections and it was fine.
So luckily it was not my Z3 unit, but the bluetooth module.
The bluetooth in our units weren't that great anyway so I decided to just go with out the bluetooth and get a nice bluetooth headset that has noise cancellation features.

F-series IMHO is a huge step back wards.
Pioneer should use this as a learning experience to improve their business model for upcoming new navi products.
-Why did they release a product with so many known issues? Was there no beta testing phase of the product development? Common sense = thrown out the window.
-Pioneer should seriously consider improving its Customer Relations Management (CRM). The callcenter is not very helpful and most of the reps are not knowledgable.
-Use Navteq for its Mapping database.
-
I also noticed the LED lights on the lower buttons are orange too.
-
-
Take your time and double check your wirings and you should be fine.
I personally would have been worried about having issues with the F-series but hopefully the update fixed all that.
Thats why I have the Z3 (knock on wood).
-
Nope the Z series has great OEM style Back up camera functionality.
Meaning, after you crank the engine, the back up camera is activated instantly when you put it in Reverse and there is no delay.

Its seems like its definitely an issue related to the SCREEN or the FLEX ribbon cable or its contact where the connection takes place with the cable and the unit.
Does your unit still seem like its functioning despite the white lines on the screen?
I've seen the flex cable. Its so fragile, and the contact pins are metallic and held down by a clip towards the bottom of the unit.
If you are knowledgable about the unit, you can remove the screen and look behind at the flex cable to see if its loose or needs to be replaced. FYI be careful not to just yank the ribbon cable, its held down by a clip that needs to be lifted first.

can you explain a bit further? my car isnt here for me to go look. thx
Menu -----> Maps tab -----> Then Shortcut Selection
Check or Uncheck the ones you want to show ,
-
There is a faster way.
You just add the VOLUME option as a shortcut. So during a call, you just hit Displayed Shortcuts icon on the lower right of the screen and then you get go to the volume straight from there.

Holy Moly!
My condolences.
Was there any way you could have kept your car in a garage or a more secure location?

Wrong Forum Homeslice?
Pioneer does not equal Kenwood.
But to help your noobish ways, if its a Double Din opening it should fit, but knowing newer hondas, they seem to stray away from the traditional Single Din, or Double Din style.
Just verify that its a Double din. Rock on Noob! Rock on!

CNDV-900HD is OUT NOW

^^ I agree. But is that possible from a simple DVD update? How much can be changed besides color of the menu icons etc?
Might be a good hack project to change the menu style/colors
