  1. I've been out of the loop for a while. Decided to log in to see about selling my Z-1 and the classifieds seem to be MIA. Did we have some scamming issues?
  2. Not sure if garrettoomey is still doing HDD's or not but if he is you can get a new one pre loaded with what you need from him.
  3. See I knew I wasn't nuts, there had to be a way.. Thank you sir..
  4. z1 with Toomey Z3 hard drive.. Ok so after a few failed attempts over a 3 year time period I guess it's time to ask.. Has anyone had any success using a RCA to 3.5mm cable to use an mp3 player or phone or boom box ? Doesn't seem to compute that I cant turn on the AUX input and use a portable device to play music.. Just trying to make sure I'm not loosing my marbles.
  5. Click on this.. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=22062 Here is the linkto Pioneer to buy one http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/par ... um=CSX1093
  6. Looks like the Touch Panel is whats cracked, See the link i posted above, it's pretty easy to change out.
  7. You need a Non Dimming illumination wire. One that just supplies 12v when the lights are turned on.
  8. Yup sure enough I had it plugged in the wrong dang port Oh well, working now. Thanks for your help yet again sir!
  9. There is only one place to plug it in on the HU no? Checking the tuner is easy but the HU not so much. If it was plugged in incorrectly how would I get the tuner to funcion?

  11. So I moved the Z from one car to another, didn't have time to install the XM tuner during the first install so I went back today and finished. The Z see's the tuner, shows what song is playing etc etc but no sound. Can change stations, manually tune one in pic comes up shows artist but no sound. WTH???? Anyone have a suggestion?
  12. 3d calibration rest will fix you up my son Had the same problem, had to reset it twice before it finally went the correct direction. i also do not have the VSS wire hooked up.
  13. Glad this post was of some use to someone. As far as a step by step goes there wasn't much to it. The screen has to be open. Turn the unit over so you can access the little panel where the ribbon is, remove the cover and slide the ribbon out. I can't remember at the moment which side was easier to remove. I think I removed it from the head unit then removed the screen. There are 2 screws holding the screen on the sliding chassis so once the screws are removed and the ribbon is removed you can twist the assembly out, be careful of that little spring that wraps around the screw on t
  14. Well I had a huge reply all typed up but not complete, hit he "Save" button and I have no damn clue where it "Saved" it to. I'll send you a PM with my contact info and I can give you a quick walk through.
  15. I don't think your door chimes have anything to do with your head unit.
  16. 1. Can we assume you have the Bluetooth adapter for your radio? It's a separate device not built in. 2. No. All you can do is buy a larger HD and install it in the unit. garrettoomey on this site sells sweet drives ready to go for a very reasonable price.
  17. Well I hope you didn't spend your money for nothing as well. sure sounds like it's not getting a GPS signal though.
  18. I too had a perfect experience with Garret, Fires up fast and I love having all the XM images... Good stuff and priced fairly! Thumbs up!!
  19. That sounds screwed man.. How many GPS sats are showing up on the screen?
  20. So I did the 3D reset again on the way home last night and within 3 miles it was working properly.. All better now.
  21. Here is a quote I still had saved from when I was searching for install goodies. "2002-2005 VW Vehicles do not have a reverse or parking brake signal on the can bus. The green and red/white wires do not function for these model yeah vehicles. Parking brake and reverse signal wire's can be foud with a volt meter in the vehicles factory wiring. Vehicle must have the factory installed double din headunit (4" tall)."
  22. Car already had after market stereo installed so nothing other than a simple adapter was used. I did look into getting one though and after digging into them it wasn't worth it. There is no CANBUS at my radio as is wasn't originally equipped with a Double Din stereo. So none of those wires (VSS, REVERSE, PARKING BRAKE) were even there
  23. Mine did that exact thing. I had to reset the 3D calibration. all better now aside from the MPH screen in the Maps area doesn't work I'm just happy I'm not drifting everywhere I go now. For reference my GPS ant is in my back window. 02 Passat.
  24. Hmm. So if you drive say 40 miles your car isnt visable on the screen any longer? What are you getting for a GPS signal?
  25. I just had something like this happen. I had to go into the Hardware screen then to connection status, reset th settings in there and mine was tracking fine. Before it looked like I was driving through the middle of houses etc.
