Here is my problem, I have wired it just like i wired in my 2008 corolla, but picked up the wire for speed senser purple as suggestion on the top of this post.

1.0 problem begin, while driving, the pointed car arrow would get stuck at one place and wont move. no guidance voice would come out, and once get to the destination, it would say you have arrived at destination. and I would go in hardware to see the pulse speed, there wont be any pulses.

2.0 another problem is sometime, the arrow would be pointing all the way upwards, and I would be going sideway. and still at this time, the pulse is zero.

I have reset the unit few times, but still the same problem

I had this z2 for year and half, and update the drive with z3 6 months ago. never had a problem, but recently took that from 08 corolla and installed it in 09 corolla, problem begins...!

all of the sudden while driving my pulse will go to zero, and the direction of the arrow on the map will be straight up, it will stay up the whole time, I would have to turn the car off and then turn it back on, and everything will be fine, like lroad will go eft to right, and arrow would be pointing up...!

any help?

how would i find out if i have jbl sound amp installed in it, i did hook z2 up to see if it works, and it does work fine with just 2 connectors plugged into it, and I have checked the 4 speaker and they are working fine, but i dont know what other connector are for, does this car has 6 speakers.

does anyone else have any info about how to hook z2 into 2009 Corolla S with steering controllers, and about the vss and reverse signals, thanks

This post does help me somewhat in installation of my new 09 corolla with z2.

my question is that I have 2009 corolla S and it has 4 connectors when i unhook the factory radio,

the harness i have is only 2 connectors, so what would i do with other 2 connectors, are those for the controllers on the steering?

my second question is where is that purple wire, which connector?

where is that reverse single wire location is it still located in the fuse box in the front of the vehicle, RED wire, please explain in details where would that be, I really dont want to hook up the wrong wire? thanks

The Reverse Light, is it coming from the fuse box in the hood of the vehicle?

will install the avic-z2, like to know where the vss and reserve wires are located, i will be pulling this avic from 2008 so i need the new harness, or the old one will work with 09 corolla s?

secondly how to hook up the steering controls to interface with this, thanks a lot for looking into it for me.

I wanted to buy the ipod for my z3, but now i am thinking about just getting an IPHONE, would that work the same as IPOD in Z2, what do i need, I mean what interface i need to connect ipod/iphone for z2?

thanks for you answer, but i have the album that is 5 cd long, like about more than 70 songs, that i want to put in 1 album, those wont fit in one cd, i wish it did, that would be the easiest solution then, but it aint.

i have dont what i was told, create the same title/artist, and they will all be copied under the same album, but it doesnt?

no1 knows the answer to this? did i ask something very strange guys?

I have an Album which consist of 5 cd's I created a cd-audio format with the same album title. while recording into the hardrive, it created 5 different albums, i had someone told me here, that as long as the album title is the same, it will go in one album title, why did it create 5 different title?

how can i make it not to do that, and put all in one title?

that is kind of sucks, the UI should let you skip to whatever level you want intead of holding that button, even wimamp or media player in the computer let you do that they should work on the firmware.

I have about 670mb worth of mp3's consist in 3 folders. lets say FOLDER 1, FOLDER 2, and FOLDER 3. I would rip them into CD they way they are, the z2 will scan through quickly on FOLDER 1 and FOLDER 2 so fast, and when it gets in FOLDER 3, it would start playing from track 1 in that folder. I dont understand why it doesnt play from FOLDER 1 and 2, I have tried to go up arrow button, and then it would start doing the same thing, scan and play in FOLDER 3. I have wasted about 4 cd's but no luck, those cd's do play fine in computer, or any other mp3 players.

Please Advise.

2. if someone wants to fast farword the track, the only way is to press the track button and hold it right? because if the track is about 1 hours long, it takes a long time to keep on holding to get to the point where you wanted, there is no screen bar we can drag right? i just wanted to make sure....!

i have one album that is 2.5gb in mp3 forum, and if i do this in cd form, i know it will be lot of cd's

can i copy those all in under one title, because it is cd of bible which one tied up to the other, so i would like them to be in one title. if so, how can that be done, thanks

i know i am asking the dumb question, but i will anyway.

1.if one dics is 700mb, and if i have the hard drive with is 30gb, then i can only record about 40 of those cd's worth of music, then what is the use of 400 albums ?

2. so i have to have in the audio cd form in order to record into the harddrive? mp3 format will not record into the harddrive? right

if that is so, i dont understand the 400 album when there is not much space, it can only have 40 cd's worth of music

so it is different than A FF REpair Station by any means, or the same thing, besided saving the data which i really dont care much. I am just trying to save some money

and second question is i just have a laptop, with serial, parallel, and usb ports, so all the ports, so in order to get that drive connected to laptop, which converter would i need, please let me know. I have got a understanding so far that with laptop you cant do, so i though i still ask anyway.

as for the dimming, i wasnt talking about the screen, i was talking about the buttons that are blue in light, those dont dim, that is all.

i though when you dim your dash light with the dimmer, those button will dim too.

it is avic-z2, the ill is connected to the ill or the harness, and power is power, and dimmer is dimmer for the harness. i believe ill is connected to parking lights, which works as you turn on ur parking light, but the dimmer does, and

as i mentioned, there is no on/off of the unit, so it power up always as you turn on your vehicles, it says poineer navigation is booting up, and it goes to the prevoius state when you turned off your vehicle, like if you had it to playing songs, it will go to that, if you was wathcing movies/dvd, it will go to that, maps then it will go to maps as after it boots up.

i like to find out, if there is any power button of something like the normal car stereo has, or that is normal, cuz i go in and out from my vehicle a lot, and everytime it boots up, and so on, i dont want it to go bad on me already.... thanks

I have the power wire to the harness power wire, and illumination, to ill from the harness,

and now this is what happens, as soon as i turn on my vehicle, to on postition, my navigation power up. so there is no switch or anything to power it down, it always come on regardless, and goes to maps, so everytime you turn on your vehicles, it boots up, is that how it is?

and yes illumination works when your turn on light at night, it does go to night maps screen.

but one things i have a question about is, that the car dimmer, when you try to dim the lights for the vehicle, everything dims, the whole console, but the navigation unit, is it not connected properly? i though the dim wire will work, as you move you dim dial in your vehicle, it should dim the dash lights, as well as your navigation unit lights?

Thanks for replying to my questions, i think i will put everything back together now, since it is working, but still like to understand one more issue.

I have hooked up power and ILL, so at night when i turned the light on, it goes to night vision, and dimm the screen, and i believe that is how it is suppose to work.

so the question is about the dimmer wire. i believe that there was a a wire for dimmer, and i connect that to my dinner wire in harness, and when i move the dimmer knob, all the dash light will dim as you move the knob, but not in z2 anymore, so did i do it right, and this dont work with z2?

I have search the forum, but all they talk about is dimming the screen, but i have that already working good. thanks
