  1. iOS 11 causes CarPlay woes...

It's been awhile since I've been here, but I want to share what I just went through with my iPhone 6+, and the new iOS 11 and also 11.0.2. updates. I have two vehicles; one with an AVIC-8200NEX, and the other with an AVIC-8100NEX. Both were one firmware version behind, and prior to the iOS 11 update, all was working fine with all functions of Carplay. Once I installed iOS 11, everything went to heck; Pandora, Carplay kept rebooting, etc. Also, a hard failure was that the text-by-voice would not work. I could touch "messages" in carplay, and saw a list of texts, but they were not clickable anymore. Also incoming texts no longer brought a popup on the AVIC screen. SO, I checked, and sure enough there were firmware updates for both head units, and I successfully installed both this afternoon. The 8100 got v. 1.10, and the 8200 got v. 1.07. After a bit of resetting and fiddling with settings, resetting connections, etc., I am happy to report that most of the issues are resolved. HOWEVER, the most important one for me; the voice texting function through Carplay, is still not working (same condition as before new firmware). I cannot find anything online about what to do, so if anyone has figured it out, please post, as I'm sure I'm not the only one who will very much appreciate it! I'll post as well, if I get a fix before anyone else posts. Thank you for reading! Charles
  2. Two NEX units; one iPhone, AvicSync issues

Thank you to the admins for joining me here! I've been trying to find out what to do, and although I admit I have not thoroughly searched here yet, I am hoping there is a solution to my issue... I have two vehicles; one with an AVIC-8100NEX, the other with an AVIC-8200NEX, and I have one iPhone 6plus, which I have tried to marry to both head units. The problem is, that although I had already bought the live traffic map app for AvicSync on my phone, and married it successfully with the AVIC-8100NEX, I was forced to re-buy it when I married it to the AVIC-8200NEX. I don't mind the extra cost of the second purchase, IF it works. Cutting to the chase, I have been unable to reunite the phone for the AvicSync with traffic map to both units, without having to "add new smartphone" each time I drive the other vehicle. Major nuisance! I also had to download the bulky AvicSync map twice, which seems not right. I hope there is a way to leave the phone united with both head units, and just get in, plug in, and go. Anyway, all input will be very much appreciated! Thank you, Charles M
