Well I got home tonight and I had a AVIC-F900BT waiting for me. I got it all installed and with 17,000 songs on my iPod, it takes 13 minutes to sync the VR...

AND that is everytime you start the unit.

So that answers that one.

I was hoping that someone who had purchased one could verify the yes or no on that issue. The one I have on order should be here within 3 or 4 days and then I guess I will know for sure.

So as long as I keep the iPod connected, it wont have to catalog each time I turn on my truck... it will retain the VR catalog...

Is that correct?

Does it have to catalogue the iPod on every startup? I usually keep mine hooked up 24/7 unless I am adding music to it.

Also...

If you turn off the VR Cataloging, can you still use voice on other things such as the bluetooth? If its off, can you still use the iPod like it is setup on the D3?

Thanks for the suggestion. I was noticing the status screen in the manual the other day.

I was toying with the idea, but since I have the Sirius and XM add-on as well as the HD add-on, I decided to stay with Pioneer, despite the problems that they appear to be having.

25 years of collecting music and never selling or deleting from my collection led me to a library of 17,000 songs. With that big of a collection, the voice command was the top reason for my purchase.

I am interested in this too. I have the 160 gig iPod and I have it filled with about 17,000 songs. I am afraid that boot time would be brutally long.

I have read that you can put the antenna under the dashboard if there is no metal between it and the sky. Right under my dash would be the AVIC... Can the antenna be placed on the unit itself or is that not recommended?

They tried to sell me 2008 maps for an extra $199.00 when I said no, he told me he was authorized to let me have them for the same price since I was a returning customer (brought my D3 from them). So I dont know if I am getting true 2008 maps or they were just saying that to get me to shell out more cash. This was purchased through Broadway Photo in Brooklyn, NY.

Supposedly the one I have on order is coming with 2008 maps. They offered me a free upgrade from the 2007 to the 2008 and that they would do it prior to shipping. Well still haven't seen it and they tell me its delayed because of the 2008 maps upgrade.

I don't know if I believe them or not, something tells me they are the 2007 maps and hope I wouldn't notice.

I am having a hard time finding an antenna splitter for splitting the signal between my deck and my HD radio add-on. Does anyone have any brand names or such to help in my search? It seems when I try to find "antenna splitters" on any audio website it returns a NONE FOUND.

PS: If anyone knows if Circuit City or Best Buy carries them, do you have the part number (they dont want to answer the phone in my town today)?

I have one on my D3 install and thats why I ask, no sense having it lying around.

Is the Pioneer CDX-P680 6 Disc changer compatible with the F-Series?

I looked through the manual and saw no reference to this. My D3 had this as an audio option on its menu, but did not see it on the F900BT.

Does the F-Series support the multi-CD player? I saw no reference in the manual to this.

On my D3, the background color and the text color seem to be screwed up.

When set to White/Red/Blue the text is white and on Green/Yellow the text is the same color as the color setting.

Is this suppose to be like that or is my D3 acting funny?

I was thinking aboiut doing the same until a co-worker pointed out my xm, sirius and GPS antennas that were on the roof as a give away. Anyone come across the same idea that if they say the fake face they would know by whats on the roof?

I looked through all the compatibility threads also. I am looking for the same thing but for Sprint phones.

It works intermittently. It will connect and for awhile everything works. Then after a call or two, the speaker no longer works and it returns to using the phone,but the dialing and hang up options still work with the D3. Then it will disconnect and from there on out it wont connect and gives a connection error.

Once you clear everything and start over it will work, but then goes through the same scenario as mentioned above.

Anyone using the Sprint Upstage with the bluetooth module on their D3?

I am finding it connects rarely and you can't really do anything with it.

If I have to bail and buy a new phone, what is the best phone and provider that works very well with the module?

I just didn't want to buy an expensive addon and not be able to use it.
