  1. I installed the GEXP10HD into the Z2 last night. Here's my initial impressions. The audio quality, once it finds the HD sub channel on an analog channel, is excellent. While I do not have XM on the Z2, I have it in another car through the factory (Acura) navigation/stereo headunit, and I would say the HD radio audio quality is better than XM (again, since I do not have XM on the Z2 it is not exactly apples-to-apples). The display sucks, absolutely sucks. I don't know what the XM module displays on the Z2, but on my other car it tells all. With the HD module, the best you get is
  2. Where you mount it will be vehicle specific. I did use the included mounting bracket and double-sided tape to mount the camera peeking-out from under the lift-glass handle. The camera is not obvious to a casual observer, and carwash brushes can't grab it either. Here it's aimed to just barely see the bumper at the bottom of the picture and down the road at the top. This camera is wide enough angle to fit the entire rear bumper in the frame (just barely). The camera has a composite video out plug and ground/positive wires for power. Plug the video output into the "backup camera" input
  3. I originally purchased a camera off Ebay which comes highly recomended by members in another forum. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SMALLEST-REARVIEW-BACK-UP-CAMERA-WATER-RESISTANT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50073QQihZ005QQitemZ150226677216QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW It's a great camera, but it did not have wide enough viewing angle, so I broke down and purchased the Pioneer camera. Side by side, there is no comparison between the two. The Pioneer is higher resolution and lower lux. You get what you pay for.
  4. That is an s-video plug. You can get an adapter that would output to an RCA plug (which is what you need to connect to the AVIC).
  5. When I flip the ignition switch from the "run" position to off, there is a momentary interuption of the power to the accessory circuit. Then, the power to the accessory circuit is back on until I open a door. This is frustrating when I want to continue to use the AVIC for Bluetooth or even just the A/V without idling the engine. Additionally, it can't be all that good to power down the AVIC, then immediately begin the boot-up process and then power it down again when I open the door a few seconds later. So I figure adding a capacitor to the accessory circuit could give me a few millise
  6. During the call, hit the top middle button and it has an option of "use handset" Thanks! I knew there had to be an easier way than digging through the menu tree, but I never tried that button!
  7. Does anyone know how to do this with a Razr? I've been trying to figure this out for a year now. Greg
  8. No I did not. Before I read your post it was working again. The unit was free-and-clear, hanging out of the dash, just to make sure there was nothing impairing movement. I looked carefully at all the sliding parts for a bit of crud too. Update: So far, the problem has not recurred. I have tried it "cold" a couple days now, and it opens/closes fine. It does not seem to be binding at all. For now I keep my fingers crossed. Greg
  9. I bought it through Amazon (which is on the list), Electronics Express is part of "third-party merchants participating in the Fulfillment by Amazon program". Pioneer told me Electronics Express was an authorized dealer, but did not elaborate so I don't know if they come piggy-backed through Amazon or what. At this point, I'm waiting to try the unit again cold. At this point I just hope it's resolved itself.
  10. So I decide it can't hurt to try the firmware update. In the process, the Pioneer Support site directs you to check the current firmware, so I power the unit up and check. While I then go back to the computer, DL the update and burn a CD, the AVIS is running for 20 or 30 minutes. I go back out to the truck in our cold Chicago garage, press the open button, and guess what? The display opens normally, just like it did the first (and only other) time last night. Last night, when I first tried to open the display, the unit had been running for a good while and was warmed up. I'll re
  11. According to Pioneer, they are an "authorized" dealer.
  12. The display stops partially open. Repeated pressing of the "open" button and it eventually opens all the way. It will never close all the way. I can (gently) push it closed again. Tried every level of reset described in the manual, no change. Here's the best part, it's less than one day old!!!! Bought it mail-order from Electronics Exress through Amazon. Pioneer said I should have the dealer exchange it. Dealer says no, it's a customer install. I call back to Pioneer. They say I have to ship it to them (I pay) for repairs. Pioneer will NOT replace it. So I pay ful
  13. Go to Google Maps, search for "Seattle", then when the map comes up, click the "traffic" box. Same data, looks a little different. In my tests around here (Chicago-Milwaukee) the Google data is more current than XM's. For that matter, XM's is really so old it's unreliable.
