How did you get the cool red screen to show up ??

If thats just a splash screen, where did you get it, and where is the "system is starting up" message ?

I was thinking about getting a Z series to replace my crappy F900BT, but wanted to see what my other options were.

Bluetooth built in (or at least an optional box), EASY to use ipod interface, XM tuner, and accurate navigation is key to me.

With that said, has anyone seen any other NAV units in person to reccommend ?

I have read reviews and seen the manufactureres screen shots till im blue in the face. But that doesnt help.

Just went from a P6800DVD with add on NAV to this F900bt and I dont like it.

I like the kenwood 8120, but im leaning more toward the Z series due to my accessories being pioneer allready.

Can anyone post some screen shots of the Z3 with XM and Ipod ???

Yeah I tried to say it both ways, and neither one worked. I didn't even know what was on the ipod untill I plugged it in and glanced at the artists.

No biggie, at least I know it works

I just tried a 30gig video I have with a broken screen and it worked.

Its probably like 1 song throwing off the pioneer.

But voice control works great with the ipod. "Play artist 311" doesnt work though LOL.

Hmmm, all music plays fine with no issues there. Just the Voice control doesn't work.

Format and reload of the ipod is not an option, as I wiped out the computer the files were on to save space.

FWIW - the ipod has ONLY been used in my car attached to a pioneer ipod adapter.

Defective head unit perhaps ?

Upon connection of my ipod (or even after leaving it connected and powering up the system)

I get a message saying "information to activate voice recognition could not be found..."

My ipod is unable to be controlled via voice commands, this is the only reason I bought this stereo, even after reading all the other problems out there.

My catalog is turned on, and my mic works to switch source, and BT phone works ok-ish. They can clearly make out what im saying on the other end.....

Mic is mounted in the dash of an 04 GTO where the factory holden monaro BT mic would be. (least amount of wind with the windows down)

The ipod is an 80gig Ipod video, maybe almost 2 years old.

Yeah the entertainment screens on the 6800 were the only reason I went with it over the Z1 or Z2 (whichever was out at the time).

I never hoodek up the mic to the nav on the 6800 so I have no idea what that was like, but the nav as a whole sucked. My $150 navigon was alot more accurate.

I am kinda pioneer loyal but lately they seem to be behind the curve. I have had pioneer source units for the past 10 years at least. And 5 of them have been video units!

I'll check out the JVC you posted, I remember I used to have the top of the line JVC El Kamelion with voice control, so maybe they have more experience in that aspect lol

I knew the F900bt was flawed, and I can work with the ones everyone complains about, but its all the other things I don't like. Shouldn't be an issue for someone who is not used to the way pioneers are usually laid out in the UI.

Ok I just sold my last setup to buy a new one.

The last setup was a P6800DVD with an Avic-80DVD add on navigation unit with the updated map dvd. Had the P910 XM tuner, and the CD-IB100ii ipod interface.

My biggest complaint with the setup was the ipod interface was slooooow to scroll through all the artists. I would have taken me all day to scroll all the way down to ZZ Top.

So I read the F900BT does voice recognition for the ipod. Well maybe I suck, or my unit is worse then the rest, but it doesnt work at all.

(I read about the issues before buying)

I am also not happy with the way the map is displayed

Is the Z3 easier to navigate through the ipod than the P6800dvd with adapter? Even if its not via voice.... The F900BT has a feature where you can select the first letter of the artist/album you want and get there quickly.

Also I dislike that most of the features of the F900BT are burried under sub menus. My P6800DVD was not like that.

How does the Z3 stack up under "user friendly" ?

What excatly does the voice control work with or control on the Z3 ?

Aside from the map data and harddrive, are there any differences between the Z2 and the Z3 ?

I'm really trying to hold onto the F900BT, but the Z3 sounds better everyday

I miss my AVG-VDP1 that the Z series has built in, ability to use a cd changer, and background animation (spectrum analyzer).

Ok, so first off, I have an AVH-P6800DVD. As you know its very similar in design to the avic units.

When run off the high level outs (speaker wires) it sounds great.

When attached to the rca's I get alt/engine whine bad.

Checked all grounds, good.

Regrounded everything, to the battery, then a common point for all items, then to just different bare metal places.

Tried the ground the rca shield trick, no go.

Even tried hooking the head unit up to a different car for power, still not good.

Also all of this was done with all pioneer accessories disconnected from the head unit to eliminate them as a problem.

Also tried ground loop isolators and no help there.

Sound goes away when the rcas are disconnected from the head unit (OR) from the amps.

I've read on here (searched for the last 3 hours) about an rca fuse ???

Never heard of one on any device with rcas.

I'm thinking maybe bad caps in the power supply of the head unit ??

HELP! I want to resolve this so I can sell it and get a d3/z1/z2 for my new ride. The p6800dvd doesn't have external remote jacks that I need for my steering wheel controls

Used to be a local installer but im stumped!
