I just went ahead and got the local sound shop to do it. I figured I wouldn't be so lucky and he confirmed with me when I got there. * Bonus though... The trim piece from my 2008 F150 fits the 2006 Exploder...Explorer. Thanks for the advice!

I just got a 2006 Explorer EB with the stock nav unit. I am under the impression that it is a version of the AVIC units. I have a D3 sitting in the closet and was wondering if by some weird twist of fate the harness connections would be the same, making it plug-n-play more or less. I have no real install experience, but I do have common sense so don't noob me too quickly. If it's not that easy I'll just take it to the local car audio place. Thanks for the insight!
